  • All This is Free!? ❤️

Amazing for someone on a budget. I am blown away by what is included in the free version. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We already did online grocery shopping at Walmart and this syncs beautifully with it. It also gives me a chance to mark the things I already have at home and change quantities before sending the list to Walmart, so I’m not over buying. And even once it’s been added to my cart on the Walmart app, I can still adjust. I know it syncs to other shopping options too. We’ve likely all the new recipes we’ve tried. The recipes are simple enough my family actually eats them! But it’s also simple to swap out meals they suggest to ones we’re more likely to eat. I love that I have the option for a paid version if I needed to track macros or other more detailed eating styles (diabetic, etc). We keep coming back to this app, especially on busy weeks. I love it.
  • The main way I accommodate my eating disorder

I have never felt inclined to write a review before, but this app has changed the way I eat drastically. I have an eating disorder called ARFID, which essentially means that certain types of foods my brain cannot process are edible, and it feels like trying to swallow poison to eat. Because of this, I’d often be skipping multiple meals, feeling grossed out by everything surrounding me. I would get dizzy from burning more calories than I ate, and generally was in a very bad place. This meal prep app not only provides easy recipes and is completely functional on the free version, but allowed me to exclude over 80 ingredients that make me feel ill and still provides recipes and portions that give me the proper nutrition and calories I need. You can always switch to so many more options if your preferences change daily, and generally is just a lifesaver. I highly recommend it.
  • Was excited for this until I started using it

The idea of this app is really great but the execution was rather poor, IMO (I work in software). I am a pretty experienced cook, but get bored with the same meals over and over again. We also end up wasting a lot of food. I thought this might be a good way to change things up and prevent waste. I selected clean eating. I liked that it would let me filter out some ingredients. It took me a while to set everything up and then when I went to actually plan the meals I was seriously disappointed in the lack of choice and rather boring choices. I had to work really hard to get a plan for the week that sounded exciting, but was also healthy. I don’t really think bread, pasta, and rolls are clean eating. When you pick something like pesto it doesn’t give the recipe for pesto. It assumes that you have bought it premade…yuck. It also forces you to sign up for a subscription before you can check the app out. I ended up canceling it right away. I think it needs a lot of work before it would be helpful to me and my family.
  • Wow!

I love this app. I’ve always struggled with food so this helps me get my eating on a schedule. I love how easy it is to customize each meal and of course, my favorite part, the fact that I can send my grocery list straight to my Walmart cart and just go pick it up. That makes my life so much easier. As with all apps I find that there are a few things that would make it better. I wish there was an option to add toppings. So say for a baked potato it only has salt and pepper on it but I want to add a sprinkle of cheese or sour cream I can’t accurately reflect those calories on the app. I also think it would be nice if there was an option to curate recipes based off of leftover ingredients from the week before. I end up with things I don’t usually eat, such as leeks, and they end up not being used after the one meal I got them for. Overall I love this app and I think it’s the best thing ever for meal prepping and eating schedules.
  • Game Changer

I cook for my large family who has various dietary needs. I also don’t cook every meal for every person. Being able to have profiles for everyone in the family and then select who I’m cooking for when planning meals for the week is a total game changer. Two of us are diabetic, 2 have food allergies, we mostly follow the “clean eating” plan but were able to customize the macros to add higher amounts of protein, less fat, and even my carb target since I’m diabetic. It also adjusts portion sizes based on individual needs. It will let me know on the meal plan I should have a half serving for lunch and, for example, and add more protein, and my husband could have 2 servings. Then it generates a shopping list and adjusts the recipe so I only purchase and cook what’s needed for our various needs. PLUS it is SO easy to add favorite recipes from various websites or even our own favorites (although the suggested recipes we’ve tried so far have all been fantastic) and seamlessly integrates them into the meal plans and adds the nutrition info automatically. Total genius! Can’t praise this app enough!
  • Does it all for you!

So far, I’m impressed. This is the kind of app I didn’t know that I was looking for but am so glad I found. Since finding this app, I have to say that I finally feel motivated to lose the weight that I’ve ignored for years but has bothered me so much. One of my biggest challenges has been food, and planning what to eat and tracking. It’s always been a nuance to me, but this app does it all for you! It has you answer a bunch of questions but it’s all so that it can plan to fit your lifestyle which a lot of these cook books, meal plans, or calorie trackers don’t do. You can swap meal options if you’d rather eat something else, you can choose a food lifestyle like if you’re pescatarian for example, you can pick what meals in the day you eat like for me I’m a breakfast, lunch, snack person, and it’ll format your meals around all that and more. I think that this app is gonna be so helpful for people like me who struggle to plan and track, or lack the motivation to. I can’t rave enough about this app. I’ve already recommended to a few friends and family, that’s how excited I am!!
  • Great for the most part!

This app is great for my meal planning and has multiple diet-type options. It makes my meal planning so much easier especially when there is a chaotic week.

However the only flaw is you can’t add your own side or snack. For example, there isn’t any nutritional options for the bread, yogurt, and ketchup that I buy. I am a Type1 diabetic and need these specific products to keep my glucose levels in balance. You only have the option to add a recipe, which you can only add to the main meal when planning. You also can’t add a meal to snack or side. Example, I can add my yogurt to a meal if I create a recipe, but I can’t add eggs because they are both main meal options.

**I would love to see an option in the next update to add your own side and snack, so that you can work those better items into the meal plan. I’m asking for the option to pick if you want this to main meal, side, or snack. I am totally fine with adding all the nutrient info manually like it is for recipes. I am not asking to turn this into a carb counting or fitness tracking app. I just wanted to be able to customize the above options, so I don’t have to manually calculate nutrients for what I’m eating in the plan given if I don’t have the same item. Thank you for your time.
  • One Year Review

I’ve been using Intent for over a year and can say that it does make figuring out what to cook for the week much easier.

However, I used to pay about $70-$80 a week on groceries for just myself. Then I started paying $90-$110 a week after using intent. You can save a lot of money if you already have a good collection of spices but if not then, remember that you will will have to build up your collection $$$!. That’s what happed to me.

Food tastes great most of the time. I initially set my caloric intake to something like 2200/ray but found that the app over compensates so now I’m setting it to 1900 and that is better for my meal sizes and wallet too. Over all I would recommend using this app to my friends as a tool to help with meal planning but don’t expect to loose a bunch of weight because you will soon become exhausted measuring every little 1/8th of a teaspoon of spices and oils per meal.
  • I love this app!

I absolutely love this app! It has a database of recipes to choose from, creates a customized & completely customizable meal plan for your specific goals, creates a shopping list out of your chosen recipes and you can send the list off to the stores website (like Kroger) to make everything easier, you can put your own recipes in, it even has a meal prep mode, you can log what you eat from your meal plan, log weight, it tells you how much weight you should lose or gain from the meal plan! I can say more about this app, but it would take too long. It’s amazing! The developers have really thought of almost everything you need for meal planning!

I only have two small suggestions. When I add in a manual recipe, I would like to add a picture of that recipe for myself. It makes me excited to cook visually when I can see it. Second, I would like to add drink options to be calculated into the meal plan, because I send my grocery list off from Intent, and I sometimes forget to add the drinks. Plus it would be nice to see how the drinks I drink feature into the meal plan!
  • Love it so far

I’ve only been using the app a couple of weeks, but so far I have enjoyed all of the recipes that have been suggested. I’m still sorting out how many meals to plan for in a week and how to handle left overs, but that’s a matter of me being realistic about how much I actually cook/prepare in a “normal” week. The grocery list feature makes shopping incredibly easy. The recipes have been tasty and easy to prepare with ingredients that are easy to find. There are so many meal planning options to choose from that anyone should be able to find a plan that works for them. The ability to adjust quantities and likes/dislikes for other members of one’s household makes this so easy to incorporate into family meal planning. This app has reduced my meal planning burnout 100%, and that alone is worth the subscription I opted to pay.
