  • Great but not without flaws

I love this game. It’s my favorite word game I’ve ever played, BUT while I’m playing Puzzle mode (and of course while I’m really engaged) the game starts force closing after every word I make! It’s so frustrating to have to reopen the app and click through the prompts over and over and I eventually quit playing each time. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice, but to no avail. So disappointing. I hope it’s fixed soon!!

  • 1st one was better

I liked the first tower so much and spell so much. At one point it kept giving a message that the app would no longer be supported, so I bought this one. It is much harder to do well, and not as much fun. Also, the other one had a really cool puzzle where the whole screen was covered in letters, and you tried to find as many words as possible. That game is gone, and it was my favorite. It is similar to Tower, but many more rows and columns. I miss the old game. Bring support back to the old game :-(

  • Good game, but frustrating

Fun game, but a few frustrations are making me wonder whether I’ll play much more. From minor to major: I wonder why sometimes it takes so long to show standings for the daily games. It’s often days behind. The ads can be a bit much. If not for the other issues, I’d probably buy my way out of the ads. The game just freezes for a few seconds pretty often - at launch, switching between game modes, starting a game. I mainly play on an iPad Pro, so it’s not exactly a a slow device.

The absolute worst thing, though, is this: several times in Daily Search mode I’ve make a short word on my way to making a longer word, and even though I haven’t lifted my finger, the game will take that short word. And that’s it - no undo. Game ruined. Streak cut short. I’ve come close to rage-deleting the app when that happens.

  • No ad issue; love game

Even when just trying out this game, I don't recall any huge issue with ads.

The game's great—especially for a word nerd like me. Plus, I'm not the best strategist—like, chess leaves me scratching my head—but this game teachers me about strategizing, using a medium with which I'm really comfortable—an super-engaging word game.

Imo, when you find a great game/app—& if you can afford the $2.99 or 99 cents or $4.99 once or twice a month for one or two carefully chosen apps (or however many you want & think is reasonable for your budget)—just pay it. No ads.

I imagine most developers like their work, but they deserve compensation (from ad revenue, or via a small app fee from others)—& they need funds for housing, food, etc., as we all do.

  • Fine but Frustrating

I played the free version for awhile to make sure I enjoyed it, then bought the paid version. Now when I’m playing in puzzle mode, all of the sudden almost every new row of letters has tiles that require using 5-6 tiles to form a word. I get the challenge, and enjoy it, but when the rows build up with only consonants that require that many letters, it’s actually impossible to do. Instead of a fun challenge, it becomes a frustration and makes the game end much sooner than my games ever did in the free version. I hate that I spent money on a game that I’d rather just delete now.

  • Why isn’t ‘Christ’ a word?

Was surprised there, felt I had to write a review. Even used the challenge feature, and still ‘Christ’ isn’t recognized as a word. For something of great importance that has existed for 2,000 years, this is definitely an issue for such a great game!

And I’m not even a Christian

4 Stars from me, until this issue is resolved..

  • Best played when using Full (paid) edition

I didn’t get into these word games and variations until I paid the small fee to unlock all options. THEN I started getting into the daily competitions for one thing. I play almost every day. I usually manage to get in the top scores but I have a long way to go before I feel good about how I play. It’s trickier than I first thought. One variation can be played for hours if you desire.

It is well designed and I appreciate the competition.

  • Great game, oppressive monetization

I really liked this game a lot. The ads don’t start popping up right away, but when they do it’s about as offensive as it gets. Full screen 30s ads pop up, and they even interrupt you mid-game.

So I was like, okay, that’s pretty rude, but this is a good game. I’ll just pay the one time fee and play it for a while. Then I saw the price tag of $5.

It just seems too expensive for a simple word game, so I deleted the app instead.

  • WAAAAYYY TOO MANY ADS

I saw all the other reviews about too many ads and just ignored it because of the positive feedback about the game but the ads proved to be overwhelming. They pop up after every single word I submit which sometimes causes my phone to freeze then I have to exit and go all the way back just to be met with another ad. And before you say it, yes I had my phone on airplane mode and WiFi/data turned off THE ADS CONTINUED TO POP UP. It’s disappointing because I really like this game especially Tower more but I cannot with the ads so I deleted it.

  • Seriously?? Unfair

I paid for the original game when it came out years ago. I shouldn’t have to pay for the same game because that’s just extremely unfair. I feel like those who bought the original game should have this full game unlocked for free. Instead of making a new game (that’s pretty much the same) why don’t you just continue to support the original? If I pay money for something... it should work!
And the ads are super annoying. This game does require thinking and ads interrupt that.
