Leave a Review MICHAEL JAMES SMITH TV
MJS has taught me much about brushwork and patience!
I have done 6 of Michael’s tutorials so far. They aren’t easy, but his realism is astonishing, and I have captured a very WEE bit of it.
I like having the drawing diagram and reference photo.
I bought his brushes, and I cannot imagine being able to do the details without them.
All in all, enjoyable and informative.Show lessReference photos problem
The reference photos provided aren’t very helpful. They are oriented in portrait style instead of landscape like Michael was painting. I’m going to have to start over and try to make another sketch with proper orientation. I’ve noticed at least two of the lessons have reference photos oriented improperly.Show lessEnjoying learning new techniques
I have learned most of my painting from online classes. I am new to oils and so far all my landscape paintings are in acrylic. I wanted to take my paintings to the next level and I found MJS on YouTube. I was blown away by the photo realism in his paintings. Since joining the MJS Tv I have an excitement and new techniques to bring to my paintings. I definitely see an improvement. I am so grateful to artists who are willing to share their passion and experience with aspiring artist as my self.
Thank you Michael. I am loving the classes, as well as making it affordable.
From a hopeful wanna be artist in the U.S.Show lessSuper learning opportunity
I’ve taken advantage of the reduced rate and have started on a couple of the Still life paintings. The tuition is very in depth and even though there’s hours of content it’s by no means a leisurely stroll - I’m having to pause on quite a few occasions to catch up with MJS
By being so detailed you get an incredible insight into the way these paintings are constructed, particularly the colour mixing. I’ve previously had about 15 different colours knocking around on my palette and seeing what can be done with 5 or 6 is a real eye opener. Also my palette is a complete mess compared to Michael’s so I’m trying to not slop the paint around so much which is improving the clarity of the colours I mix. What I’m hoping is completing as many of the paintings as I can will sharpen up my own work so I don’t flounder about taking ages over things only to have to paint over or scrub out. So far the online courses are providing a blueprint for how I’d like to go in the future so it’s a definite 5 stars from me.Show lessGreat way to learn how to paint
The lessons are very detailed, and I have learned quite a bit about painting landscapes and greenery. I only wish there was a separate section on mixing greens. Mine never seem to match what I can see on my iPad. Other than that definitely worth the moneyPainting Magic!!
Fascinating to watch. Painting jewels of nature. So thrilled to find a Master artist who helps visual learners to see. He takes the time and mixes the colors right up front. So happy to have a whole year membership. He is a gentlemen with a fine British accent. I live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, so appreciate a artist who is calming and informative. Thank you!!!Show lessLove it
Great app. I highly recommend it to any artist. It helped me a lot in improving my skills.Great Teacher
I really enjoy painting along !
I’ve never painted along for hours like this
and can see the growth already 🙂
Excited to see this process of really understanding oil painting unfold in front of my eyes 🖼🎨✨Great app
Really good for learning to paint, you get to see everything at normal speed and he does a really good job explaining what he’s doing. Would like to see more content on the basics for beginners. I have started a few of these and got it complete wrong because of lack of technique.Throw your money at him, he deserves it!
Best painting lessons you’ll find, explains every detail, videos are full length, no sneaky jumps. Great value for money if you put the effort in. 10/10
