Somewhat unsatisfied

Ok first of all, in terms of user interface this is basically just a web browser that only goes to DND beyond’s website. Editing a character is fairly difficult, requiring several steps to even add an item into the inventory. Near as I can tell it also just doesn’t translate character background abilities and features to the user interface. Add into that the fact that this is a feature that users have been begging for and expecting since DND Beyond’s release several years ago and what we get is a half finished effort with no note taking section or description section, and I’m very disappointed in this app. It’s saving grace is that DND beyond has the specific races and backgrounds that I wanted for my character builds, or I would most certainly be using a different app.

Nearly there

The flow and accessibility is great, the next thing I need if I’m going to actually use it is the ability to edit my inventory!

Clunky and awkward

Honestly, I want to like this a lot, but until it gets some QoL updates I’m giving it a miss. It feels awkward and annoying to navigate, slow to update things like character name changes, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to increase my AC or “equip” a weapon, as despite selecting a greatsword in the character builder, the sheet only tells me the stats for unarmed combat.
It’s also slightly annoying I have to continuously go back to the website through the app to update anything.
Not very impressed with the UI either. On a tablet I can see it working, but on a phone there just isn’t enough on screen at once. I’ll be sticking to paper sheets for the time being, but I’ll keep an eye on this app in case it improves.

Fine but limited

Its a grand way of checking a character sheet but it lacks alot of the dnd beyond functionality and i struggle to see why anyone would use this currently, instead of the website.

The biggest gripe for me is its useless to DM’s and you cant click for details on any of the spells or items, which as a player makes it very annoying.

As a replacement for a paper character sheet, its fine though.

Fantastic tool with room for growth

I love this app yet it carries over one of my biggest gripes from the website - I would love to be able to set custom defaults to the “home” page of player creation. My group nearly never uses MTG or Eberron content but we very regularly use playtest and CR material. We level on XP and roll for HP.

It’s really annoying having to change every single one of these toggles EVERY time I want to make a new character. Surely I should be able to set these to my default preferences and then, if I ever want to use MTG content, I’ll flip that switch on the character that needs it.

Otherwise, this app is beautiful and I love it.

Great Start But...

Hey Guys,
I hesitate to give this 3 Stars because I’m so thankful to have it and believe with a few patches it’ll easily be a 5 star app in my opinion. The app, as it is right now, is polished in appearance and very user friendly. However I feel it misses the mark in how you can’t edit aspects of the character sheet or read spell/item descriptions unless you go to “View Character on Website”. This feels like an extra step and almost defeats the purpose of the app. As in, why not just pull up my character sheet on Safari instead? I’m confident this will not be the case it future patches but for now it’s kinda inconvenient and feels self defeating.

Hate saying that because, once again, I’m thankful to have this and believe it has great potential. In due time I suppose!

Lots of potential!

Because this app is still in early development, my rating is based on the quality of what’s there, not what they’re still working on implementing. I love that they finally made an easy way to access character sheets on mobile (the website worked fine, but it was still more of a hassle than just going to an app). The features they’ve added so far are great. I can do most of the essential things in the app, and there’s an easily accessible pop up for the website that lets you do everything else. Once this app is finished I’m sure it will be a great way to manage my characters. In addition to implementing all of the regular character sheet stuff, something I would like to see added would be access to my campaigns, so I can see my friends’ characters in the app too.

Wait for the Fully Functional Version

If you’re like me and use DnD Beyond primarily for dice rolling and character editing whilst in game then I would wait for updates which are expected to come. Right now as a basic overview tool for your character it works well. The app itself is stable and runs smoothly with no technical issues. It’s a good framework that will hopefully blossom into a fully functioning mobile version of the desktop website soon. At that point I would give it five stars.

Very happy

This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for as both a DM and a player, I love that you’ve focussed on using abilities and spells and being able to view all of the most important things first and can’t wait for future updates to make this even more convenient. Thank you!!

Essential app for D&D (Beyond) players

A solid MVP that every D&D Beyond subscriber or regular players of the RPG should check out. Better than just about everything else on the market. Automates much of the data tedium in the game tracking character progression. Looking forward to a few of the greyed-our options making their way into production in the near future, as well as tighter integration with subscription content such as PHB, DMG, MM etc. Impressive debut
