  • I’ve tried them all…

Literally. And NotePlan is the best. It’s easy to use like a simple notes app yet has all the features and interconnectedness of a complicated note system without being so confusing it’s unusable (I’m looking at you, Notion). You can tell the developer was influenced by the Bullet Journal Method because it works very similarly to that system while being digital and customizable. I love that it has a page for each day, week, month, quarter and year and yet they are connected and accessible from your daily pages - I imagine that took a lot of skillful programming. You can attach files, connect notes with backlinks and timeblock within the app. I’ve truly spent multiple years looking for an app that has the best of all these worlds and NotePlan is it.

  • The best

I’ve looked into a lot of notetaking and task management apps over the last 10 or 15 years. Noteplan is the one app that rules them all. It really is just absolutely brilliant. Especially with the addition of the incredible automations and features that are provided by many great plug-ins that other developers have kindly written and made public.
I use Noteplan for all my task management now, which integrates nicely with my calendar and Apple reminders. I also use it for storing the bulk of my Notes and research Info. Although for larger amounts of data, what I would call the heavy lifting of my “second brain”, I do also use Obsidian. Thankfully, Obsidian and Noteplan can integrate quite nicely with Obsidian so that the two are able to work on the same data repository.
I could rave on and on about this app, but really just try it out. But, do take the time to go through the many excellent tutorial videos, because there really is so much power in this app especially in the many shortcuts and automations that it has. Without really learning about the features, it may seem a little underwhelming. Once you get familiar with what it’s capable of I can promise you it’s probably gonna seem a little overwhelming. However, it’s then just a matter of getting familiar with what you need to use.

  • Flexible enough to handle my unconventional workflow

As someone who’s always on the lookout for productivity apps that can adapt to my unconventional workflow, I often find myself caught between a desire for structure and a need for flexibility. Traditional calendar apps usually fall short of this balance, and while I dabble in bullet journaling, the method's inherent fluidity can sometimes be a bit too loose for my tastes.

Enter NotePlan, a recent discovery through my Setapp subscription. From my initial impressions, it seems to be the ideal tool for someone like me. NotePlan promises to merge a structured calendar approach with a free-form system for organizing daily tasks and goals. This combination appears to be a perfect match for my "sudo-bullet journal" style, offering the best of both worlds.

The app's integration of calendar and note-taking functionalities appears robust and user-friendly, allowing me to lean into my scheduling while still maintaining the flexibility to adjust and organize key elements of my day. While I’m still in the early stages of using NotePlan, the early signs suggest it’s a promising solution for those of us who thrive on a blend of structure and creative freedom in our productivity tools.

  • Nothing like it in the Entire Appstore

I did a trial and then hesistated thinking the subscription is expensive. Next 30 days, i was trying to find alternatives, evernote, notion , craft, nothing even comes close. You just cant go to any other note app after using this. The daily note, the ability to backtrack reminders ( NOT MOVE) , the ability to put notes and reminders in one but also have folders. Its just too unparalleled. After 30 days i just couldnt hold off. The productivity gains and the organising ability is just unmatched. A hearty congratulations to these developers for winning over a 2011 evernote and 2017 notion user. Its not easy to move platforms but you did it in 30 days! I was going to nitpick about repeating tasks but then you come along and add a reminders integration. Really amazing! i urge folks to trial it for a couple of days. If you find a note taking platform like this. Kudos to you.

  • This app shows me one incredible feature after another

I don’t know how Eduard is accomplishing this, but the application he has built here and continues to update with astonishing regularity is putting competing apps from large companies to shame! I was excited when I first ran across it and saw some of what it could do… but now that I am using it and started watching some of many tutorial videos it feels like unwrapping one Christmas present after another. The many capabilities and integrations of this app are simply remarkable. I am very happy that I found this app — I don’t understand why it hasn’t been regularly included in the reviews and round-ups of note-taking and productivity apps by the major publications and app review sites?! So, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I definitely encourage you to download and try out this app if you have not already.

  • The one you come back to

I’m sure that a lot of people that will download this application are in the business of downloading a lot of productivity applications. It’s always interesting to watch which application you go to when you are in a pinch. When you really need to remember something or you really want to put something down in a way that will support your day. This is the application that I constantly come back to. If something is really important, I don’t hesitate I go to this application.

I haven’t even bothered learning all the bells and whistles. And that means that I am constantly pleasantly surprised when a feature popped out of nowhere. NotePlan is the unicorn you’ve been looking for.

  • I think I've finally found what I've been looking for...

I've gone through all the organizational apps there are... So far, this one has taken the cake! It allows me to use my brain exactly how it works (very messy & moving from one thing to the next and back constantly) BUT this allows me to keep it organized. If you've ever bullet journaled, this feels similar yet way more powerful. I can scribble everything the way my brain wants and between the links and tags- it stays organized. The UI is simple and easy to navigate. There's a small learning curve with understanding how all the different formatting options work and why- but its not nearly as time consuming as some initial set up for other apps.

If you're doubting it- just give it a shot. It's exactly what I was hoping for. Plus they have great documentation and customer service. What else could a girl need for her organizational app? :)

  • Send NotePlan to the moon

I've recently been captivated by the "Building a Second Brain" concept, which is closely linked to the discussion around note-taking applications. I've experimented with Notion, Evernote, and Obsidian. All three are impressive applications, yet none seemed to live up to the hype for me. It's not that there's anything wrong with those applications; they just didn't engage my mind in a way that led to improvement in areas unrelated to "Personal Knowledge Management." However, NotePlan has been a revelation. I enjoy viewing my to-do list in a context that retains the references from the accompanying notes and insights that I've quickly jotted down beside each task. At night, I find peace in organizing my tasks for the following day, and the interface is so intuitive that it feels natural to drag and place tasks on the specific day (and time) I want them. This comes with the added advantage of avoiding vendor lock-in (notes are in markdown) and prioritizing local storage first. I initially opted for a monthly subscription, but I plan to switch to an annual one at the beginning of next month.

  • Must-have app with one omission

This app is a game-changer. I spent countless hours in Obsidian (and I love Obsidian) building a system that NotePlan does automatically, right out of the box. Everything in my head goes into NotePlan, and markdown ensures my notes are always mine.

However, there's one item glaringly omitted: where are the widgets??? I love using the app and have no problem opening it but it would be such a time-saving feature to be able to create a new note, append/prepend to a note, navigate to a specific note or folder, see all open, due, or overdue tasks, etc. right from the home screen. I left NotePlan for a while for Agenda because Agenda has widgets; however, my workflow relies heavily on periodic notes, making Agenda difficult for me to leverage effectively. For me, widgets would make NotePlan one of the most solid, 5-star apps in the App Store.

  • A great app just keeps getting better and better

High praise, but well deserved. I've tried many apps to help me manage my tasks and all the information that is connected to them, but NotePlan is by far the best: It is both simple to use (just watch the many videos and read the support documentation) AND has deep functionality to support whatever workflows and functionaliy you need (within the boundaries of notes and plans, of course, but with a useful calendar view thrown in too).

And the support of the developer is amazing. He listens and responds. A recent example: the most recent update polishes away a major friction point in my workflow. NotePlan now moves nested tasks as a single group. It just keeps getting better and better. Thanks!
