  • Perfect app for busy people!

I tested out tons of different task and note-taking apps before finding this one--what I was specifically looking for was a digital version of a bullet journal. On top of all the bullet journal functionality I was looking for, I'm discovering many other ways of staying organized. It's taking mental bandwidth I used to devote to keeping track of things and instead letting me feel like I'm on top of my work.

I'm a professor, so I juggle many hats throughout the day, as well as manage and push forward my own research projects. Anyone who has to do any kind of project management, either at home or at work, will make their life easier with this software. I used to look sideways at "productivity" apps... who has time for them? But this is absolutely making my life easier and me more productive! It somehow reaches the right balance between being simple and intuitive to use, but with lots of deep functionality if you're looking for it.

Plus, the developers are coming up with new updates all the time, and they are so kind and helpful when you reach out to them with questions.

  • Getting better all the time

The latest features (sub-tasks, drag task to calendar to block time) work great and are super useful. Over the years this app has gone from great to exeptional.

The only thing I am sorely missing is AppleWatch integration - if I could just see my blocked times, that would be already swell. Being able to interact (check-off) today's tasks would be even better. If making it fully fledged with the ability to create tasks is too expansive, maybe an ability to convert apple-reminders to tasks, would be a suitable workaround (add reminder on the watch, convert to noteplan task on the desktop or iphone/ipad). I keep dreaming.

  • Love it

This is an integral part of my daily workflow and journaling. The best part for me is that it is 100% future proof because all notes are completely locally stored and are plan text. You can also edit with a text editor. For the non-technical this is not apparent how valuable this is. If you stop using the app you still have all your notes stored locally and not locked away in some proprietary format. 10 years in the future these notes will still be around.

The developer has been improving it with new features.

  • The best note taking app

I’ve tried all of the different note taking apps – Obsidian, Roam, logseq, Craft – you name it. Each of the other ones were good but always fell short on something. Sometimes it was how native the apps were, sometimes it was mobile support, other times it was open formats.

NotePlan does it all for me. It ticks all of the boxes that the others don’t. 💯% worth it!

  • Keep coming back

I just keep coming back to NotePlan. I've tried Craft, Bear, UpNote, Agenda, OneNote, Apple Notes, Notion, all of them and NotePlan just clicks for me. Tons of features without being overbearing. And while it does have a large feature set, it feels light and quick. I use a mix of daily notes and actual note reference writing and it just does a better job of keeing me organized than any other app. The developer is also constantly making improvements and updates. The only feature that I feel is missing is an iOS widget for instant access to my daily note. Try this app - start small with a note or two and grow into it. It's great!

  • It keeps growing

I started using Noteplan as a way to always carry my Bullet Journal with me (my phone), and the fact that it allowed me to have links was a plus.

Just like the Bullet Journal, I've had periods where I simply fall off the track and stop keeping track of or plan my days. But everytime I come back there's a new neat feature.

Also, the fact that there's a feedback website where we can all submit and vote for ideas / suggestions is really nice.

  • Exactly what I’ve been wanting

This app lets me keep a running ‘stream of consciousness’ type log of my work, tasks I need to do, meeting notes, basically everything I need to keep track of, and it’s all searchable, taggable, and sorted by day. It meets my needs perfectly, and I love it! I also appreciate the new features that are getting regularly released.

  • A real productivity booster

I’ve been looking for a single app that could manage my notes, todos, and habit tracking. This does it all be more. I’ve been using NotePlan 3 for about four months and it has really helped me to make better use of my time. Everything is in one place. It allows for hierarchy in the folders system for saving all my notes, plus tagging, so I can always find what I’m looking for. I love how easy it is to add notes about a meeting or event. I also love the templates and how easy they are to customize to my needs. Great app!

  • Best in Class

I believe this is hands down the best note taking app on the market today and I have tried them all. It’s linking features to projects and people make searching a breeze. It also is based around our lives…the calendar. I love it and it is the only note app I recommend and have used consistently over the past several years. They also are constantly adding features.
