Random assessment of readiness.
After using this app for a few months I’ve come to realize the rating is white randomized. Hrv can be fairly high and resting hr low and the score is still low. And Vice versa. Not worth relying on by any means. Had high hopes, but very disappointed after these few months.
A good substitute for whoop
I used to be a fanatic whoop strap user until the monthly subscription price finally put me off.
I searched high and low for a suitable replacement to make sense of my constantly changing HRV scores provided by my Apple Watch.
While this app doesn’t make recommendations about sleep time or base your recovery on previous nights sleep it does give you a good indication of your readiness to train by giving an easy to understand score out of 10 together with a few lines of advice about how hard to push it.
Looking at the development roadmap there are more good things to come for the app.
Pay for the extra charts too, they give some good insight into your overall fitness gains or losses.

Great app but still has more potential
Absolutely been loving the app, I’ve been looking for a whoop like Experience on the Apple Watch and this has delivered. However, the app could improve a bit more with having a questionnaire to assess your perceived exertion or taking into consideration your sleep data. With that being said, the app is fantastic and paying the small fee for the graphs in my opinion is a no brainier. Love this app so much, I’m constantly looking at it during the day as a form of assessing my physical condition. Worth the purchase and can’t recommend enough🙂

Pointless. Never works.
I had moderate hopes for this app, but even those we’re disappointed. This app almost never receives my heart rate without doing the annoying breathing function, I workout 5 days a week (mostly cardio) and I still have to do the breathing exercises only for this app to consistently tell me I’m below a 3 for recovery. What a waste.

Simple and helpful
I love the interface and ease of use.
Poor tutorial, don’t know what the numbers mean
I love the idea of this app. I see the numbers it gives me & I see graphs. I just wish the tutorial gave better descriptions as to what the different numbers mean. I don’t have any idea what to do with those numbers.
Great in theory
I give this a ...meh... at best. Cool in concept however I’ve felt no correlation from being told I’m at a 10 or a 3. I’ve woken up feeling great only to look at the number and see it state I’m a 2 😨. I’ll do some yoga or a HIIT session and I’m instantly a 10.
I’m starting to put less stock then ever in all the “advanced metrics” being pushed out by app dev’s and putting far more in the way Apple provides their stats.
Apples way is less likely to make you paranoid. Practice consistent sleep habits, eat well, go out for a walk and breath. Forget about the number this thing gives you and listen to your body. If you are feeling stressed, irritated or ready to take on the world, get some yoga in you, go for a run, break a sweat and you are guaranteed to feel better then when you started.

Response from developer
Many thanks for trying Training Today and sorry it isn't working for you as well as it could. There are some things that can be adjusted to make the readings most relevant to you - if you want to give it another go drop us an email at support@trainingtodayapp.com and we can investigate.
A very useful and helpful app
At last a way to understand and make use of all that HRV data! This app provides a useful indication of how well I’ve recovered from previous workouts so I can modify my workout plans for the week or maintain awareness of how I feel during workouts so I can push myself (or not!) accordingly. I think paying for the extra charts is well worth it for those like me who appreciate geeking out 🤓. They could do with making the functionality and UI a bit more self explanatory/intuitive but knocking a star off just for that would be disproportionate to the value of what the app offers. I hope they continue to improve on it. Well done!

Beauty
I don’t personally have a whoop, but friends do and between this and the app CardioBot. I feel I have a whoop. I like this app a lot. It seems to be pretty accurate as well with how I’m generally feeling and definitely picked up that I was hung over!
Very optimistic
Very helpful for somebody like me who's too macho for rest days and needs an objective source of when to ratchet down the intensity
