Frustrated
Last summer we were having so much trouble with balancing our water. We bought AquaChek! They were amazing! Finally could get real readings! Fast forward to this summer! I pull out strip after strip because my camera won’t focus. I thought maybe it was my new phone. So we tried on many different age phone and will not work. So frustrated we have to buy a different kind. Hopefully they get it fixed.

App no longer reading test strips
I’ve used this product for a couple of years without issue. This year I opened my pool and tried about a dozen test strips and the app never recognized the test strip. I followed all the steps repeatedly and the box would only turn yellow or red. When I click the manual button, the app crashes and closes. I bought new strips and I have the same issue. The app no longer reads the test strips. This used to be a great app/product, now it’s just a waste of money.

Useless
The app worked great last summer, but this year it will not scan the strip. The camera can’t focus and it refuses to read the testing strip. I have been watching for updates, hoping they would address this issue but haven’t seen anything. So needless to say, the app is useless. You have to use the manual chart that comes with your testing strips. Disappointing because I really appreciated the chemical instructions when it worked last year and being able to look back at trends for my pool.

Used to work
I downloaded the app last summer merely so I wouldn’t have to write down the readings. It worked fine last summer. Now, it won’t take a pic of the strip. Says I need to line it up with the black and white squares on the strip, but those aren’t there. My strips are good till Sept 2025 and have been in a cool dark place all winter.
I couldn’t remember the gallons, so when I tried to calculate that and hit save, it was giving me the prompt to enter them myself without giving me the result. If I remembered them, I wouldn’t need the calculator!!
Additionally, when I tried to manually enter, the app crashed. Looks like I’m going back old school.

Camera not focusing
So last year the app worked really good and the camera focused just fine to take the pictures of the test strip. Well I just bought a new kit this last Saturday because I opened my pool and we’re trying to get all of the levels correct so we can start swimming. We went through 4-5 strips and did everything exactly the way the kit says and we could never get the camera to focus right for it to take the picture and get the levels of everything. We really liked this app because it reads the test strip and then gives us a breakdown of what we need to do. So I’m not really sure on what we need to do?

Does not work with iPhone 15
I used to use the app with an iPhone 12 Pro with 50/50 accuracy. However with an iPhone 15 pro, the app doesn’t support swapping cameras or focusing so does not work.
Hold phone away and zoom in!
Was having trouble getting strips to focus on iPhone 15 camera. The trick is to hold the phone further away and then zoom in to line the strip up.
Not convinced the results/suggestions are totally accurate vs what my eye sees on the strips but will continue to compare to my pro test kit and update my review in the future.

Still crashing!
Used to Love this app and used the manual entry all the time! App was updated and now manual entry crashes! Please fix!
Disappointing
I was looking for AquaChek Smart app as shown on website. This app doesn’t look like what was shown on website, no good for 4-in-1 test strips, drop down values for manual entry are too limited & colours on screen (iPhone 15 )don’t look much like colours on AwuaChek container.
I have been using the 4-in-1 test strips for over 15 years and find them useful.
However, this app is too limited. Manual data entry only allows ph to be 6.2, 6.8, 7.2, 7.8 & 8.4
Ideally , I aim to have my pool at 7.4 (7.2 to 7.8 is in the ok range - so why no options?
Same with TA - it only accepts increments of 40
