Made everything click

I’m very new to it, but I’m trying to learn Turkish. I tried other language apps and resources but it frustrated me how they would jump straight into memorizing words and sentences without explaining how the language works, and to someone used to english and spanish grammar, it was very difficult to understand what was going on. I just found this app and I’m on the first few lessons and Turkish is already feeling a lot less scary to learn, I am actually starting to understand how it works. This app is way better than the no-explanation memorization based apps as it is taking me slowly through understanding the nature of the language. Thank you for making this app free, I would otherwise have no simple way of learning Turkish. It is not the only tool you should use, but the approach of this app is tremendously helpful.

Great app

Similar method to Michele Thomas. Please make the Intro French to a complete French. Free and much better than some paid apps.

the only app review i have ever written

this is literally the best app for learning languages. It’s the reason i’m fluent in spanish. this app explains things in minutes what my spanish teachers at school couldn’t teach me in years, he makes spanish seem like a dialect of english as they have so much in common. if you’re learning one of the languages available here and you aren’t using language transfer, eres estúpido. (also everything is free?? Mihalis I will leave my will for you)

Highly recommended

A stand-out method of learning which I’ve seen accelerate my learning of languages with a practical approach.

You made my time in Costa Rica unforgettable.

Thanks to Mihalis (the creator of this app, and the sole teacher and only person behind all of this), I was able to go down to Costa Rica with an old friend and essentially hold conversations about the weather, the police, the locations, travel, time, and food!

I had tried so many other apps like Memrise, Babbel, DuoLingo, Drops, etc., but the sheer fact that I could step into a lesson and see the intricacies of language (particularly Spanish), such as the Latin origins, typical conjugations, irregular conjugations repeating themselves in other verbs (making them not-so-irregular), and explaining how the Spanish sentence structure works has been an incredibly seamless experience that I strongly doubt and have never experienced before. Someday when I’m in a better spot, I can’t wait to support this project!

Duo not working out? Try this!

Ho sinceramente bisogno di più contenuti per il corso di italiano. Vi prego! I’m a big language learner from Australia. When I say that I mean my entire bookcase is filled with learning materials from Spanish to Icelandic. With the convenience of apps it shouldn’t come a surprise that I have Duolingo, Pimsleur, Mondly, Drops, QLang and Ling as my most used programs. So, what is Language Transfer like? It feels like a more natural Pimsleur but I’m sure it’s got its own method / tweak.

Whatever the case, I finished the Italian course and it really surprised me how I swear that I could feel my brain working differently than it does with the other apps. It’s like sitting in a true classroom and the creators really have poured a lot of love into it. The most bizarre thing is that it is all free which is rare these days. There is the option to donate on the website but it doesn’t bug you about it. How long will it all be free? I don’t know. Duolingo was like this too but focusing on the now it is all free and worth a go. I’m pretty happy with it and do plan to donate if not to vote for more Italian lessons. There are other languages too: Arabic, Greek, Spanish, Russian, French, German and Swahili from memory.

My only problem? The Italian course is far too short and I crave more. I think if I could keep going I would really show some “progressi impressionanti”.

Più contenuto italiano, per favore! 🙏🏼

The most useless and weirdest app to learn a language

In the beginning, they said just listen and you will learn. Ok, understand this kinda method exists but not in this app situation. It's more like a quiz method where you listen and check yourself if you really know the language. But let's say people know the language, why would they download the app just to be sure that they really know the language, doesn't make sense. I came to learn and not just to seat and listen to that monotone not interactive audio voice of a student who decided to come and check if she/he really knows the language. This app is the most useless app I've ever tried.

Great introductory course!

Great if you want to begin to learn a new language and don’t know where to start.
The course is very simple and will only take you to a very basic level, so you’ll need to supplement with additional study if you want to develop your skills further.

Truly the best language-learning app i’ve ever used

I never, eeeever write reviews of apps, if i’m honest- but i am so absolutely grateful to have come across this project and felt like i had to say something in promotion of it.

I’ve taken spanish for the past six years, most of which were in classes in under-funded and overlooked public school language programs, which ignited a hunger in me for engaging language classes, while also leaving me feeling as though i had very little direction for how to find that and little clarity as to what that looked like.

Over the past few weeks, i’ve realized that THIS program, is what that looks like. The spanish that had been swept under an old rug in a forgotten corner of my brain has been illuminated by the wonderful lessons available in this app. Not only am i able to recall old lessons I thought had been lost on me, I’m also finding that what language transfer does that’s absolutely invaluable is create an incredible flow between one’s intuition and the information provided.

Unfortunately I’m still not very eloquent in english so everything i thought i was saying in this review is pretty mushy and garbled, but nonetheless if any prospective language-students are thinking of downloading this app, give it a try!!!! you’ll never revisit duolingo again
