Great to get landscape mode for the iPad. However, the videos are truncated and don’t show the full chessboard. Can you fix?
  • Give it a chance

Much has been written about the comparisons with the app and website. The app is not the full Chessable product, but its a good start and they have committed to making it better. Whats the point of leaving all the negative reviews when theyve been very clear about the roadmap and issues?
  • Struggling to get it

I can tell this is a slick app. I would have rated higher with better onboarding because despite trying it for a few days, I’m struggling to understand how to make the most of it for chess training. Also, still haven’t managed to get any free course I sign up for to show up in the dashboard so I’ve deleted the app.

Thank you for the review. This has been duly noted and we're beginning to work on the onboarding.
  • A great and constantly improving learning tool

Since I downloaded the app several large improvements have already been made such as landscape mode. I am very happy with how the app works and look forward to it becoming as good or better than the site itself. Couple of minor issues, occasionally crashes but quickly will reload (you just lose you current study session if that is something you care about and track) Also being able to load the score boards would be great. If you want to purchase courses you will need to use the website, but I am sure that will change in the future. For anyone having minor issues or inconveniences with the app, remember that the browser site works great on iPads/mobile devices so use that for anything that is not yet on the app

  • Great content, garbage app

The content and format of Chessable are phenomenal. Unfortunately, the app itself is absolutely terrible. Extremely slow and laggy, prone to hangups, long load times, etc. We are trying to load a chess board with some annotations, not Skyrim. Whatever firm developed this app needs to be fired and the app reworked.

Stick to using Chessable from your PC until they fix this mess.

  • A start

Chessable allows a person to access content created by a number of decently strong player — that’s nice. Unfortunately, the app itself isn’t great. Every single PRO feature on Chessable is free on similar services. When you pay for a course, you expect to be able to study it when you want and how you want, on here, you can’t.

Also the app is laggy to the point of being unusable, and there is no way to landscape mode yet. — But I assume those are short term problems... still, they really do need to be fixed.

  • Great

The app is really great and smooth. The only question is would it be possible to have purchasable courses like the ones on the Chessable site.
  • Still crashes far too often

When the app is such a poor version of the web version it is mostly frustrating to use. From being logged out, crashing on subvariations, crashing on testing, not alerting correctly whether your streak needs to be maintained or not, it just is not super useful. Hopefully they will keep updating it and I will definitely increase my rating if so.

  • Add landscape rotation for ipad

Really happy to see the app coming to ios. I hope devs can further support ipad, since the rotation is currently locked to portrait mode.

Update: The devs are very active, pushing regular updates. Apparently, landscape rotation is also in the works. Updating the review to 5 stars.
  • Good supplement for the website!

However the app doesn’t seem to remember my log in credentials. So I have to log in every time I open the app.

Overall, I like the app so far!

Quade so sorry for that, it seemed to be a bug in the last version! If you try to install the update it should now be fixed. Sorry for the trouble.
