  • False advertising

I bought the quip sonic toothbrush and on the packaging and manual it mentions this app. I downloaded it because it sounded like a fun way to stay on top of my brushing. The app wouldn’t let me do anything without pairing a toothbrush. I just found out it only for the smart toothbrushes. I feel like if it doesn’t work with all of the toothbrushes then it shouldn’t mention the app on the incompatible toothbrushes…kind of misleading. I hope they can come up with a way to make the able useful for people who don’t have the smart brush!

EDIT: After reading the reply from the developer I tried troubleshooting with the app again. When I redownloaded it I was able to manually track my brushing unlike before.

Currently, only Smart Toothbrushes can be paired with the app. However, you can still manually enter your data to track your brushing habits and earn rewards using a standard motor. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at reviews@getquip.com.
  • No just no

So I like electric toothbrushes and I love you but I remember my mom got me one and this is my experience with that. I never had a phone at that point so I was like OK I’m just gonna wait till I get a phone so that I can make A review. OK so when I got the toothbrush, I was like I’m gonna connect it to my iPad because that’s what I had that point and the app is so bad. I got my toothbrush and I was trying to connect it so I got myself logged in and everything. I did all the steps of like pressing the queue to turn it on and then turn it off and then like turn making sure my Bluetooth is on like all that and it’s still like said we cannot find a toothbrush like that so I tried it over and over and over again I was like look, this girl was freaking over and she’s literally like me right now. I’m doing it again. I’ve got another one another and I need you guys to answer me help me please.

  • good idea, glitchy tho

I'm really big on oral care. So when I saw there was a toothbrush that came with an app to track everything, I was all over it. However I only have the electric toothbrush, not the smart one, so I have to manually put in when I brush/rinse/floss and all of that.

Again, I'm a religious dental caretaker. I brush twice or even three times a day (depends on my meals), floss at morning and at night, oil pull, brush my tongue, alladat and more. I figured this would be a great way of rewarding myself for these habits. But, for whatever reason, the app only recognizes my saves every other morning. I know I've been recording everything so idk what the issue is. I'll just check later on and my morning brush tracking is gone.

I really really want this app to work so I'll keep using it but maybe the developers should look into this a bit more.

  • Needs more realistic achievements for those with mental health struggles

Ever since hearing about Quip, it’s changed the game for my oral health completely. As someone who struggles with multiple mental illnesses, resulting in a lack of personal hygiene (which unfortunately is not talked about enough), Quip has saved me. Tracking my brushing, flossing, and mouthwash rinsing has me feeling so accomplished AND I can actually see the data of when my oral hygiene is good and when it starts to slip.

I LOVE the achievements feature. However, I find it difficult to hit some of them because of how much relearning of a habit I have to do, due to my mental health. As of right now, 7 days a week 2x a day is just not realistic. I would LOVE a more realistic goal/achievement, such as “Perfect Morning-Brush Week” or “Perfect Night-Brush Week”, or even something small like a “Brushing Streak” for keeping track of all the days. I feel like that would really motivate me to not break my streak!!! An addition like this in the app would honestly do so much for me.

I would also LOVE to see more articles about the connection between oral hygiene and mental health. I briefly recall seeing one but it would be nice to have this normalized, de-stigmatized, and know that I’m not alone in this difficult journey of creating better hygiene habits.

Thank you for reading!! Continue to do amazing work on this app. I would just love to see it more personalized. Have a wonderful day!! :)

  • Constantly re-pairing

I don’t normally put reviews out for apps but this is worth mentioning. I’ve been using Quip for a while now and switched to the new wireless charging smart motor brush setup (lost my previous brush traveling, oops). Recently, the brush stopped connecting to the app without having to re-pair it every time I open the app. I select the brush type, asks for the Bluetooth prompt (which it’s already on because the app hasn’t been removed from my phone) and won’t let me proceed further until confirming it’s on, which repeats because it’s already on. I’ve had to delete and reinstall the app multiple times to get it to work, but now it’s doing it constantly. Luckily the brush saves the brush data but if it won’t connect and sync, what’s the point? Seriously considering switching to another brand now.

  • Mostly OK, but Should Work Better

I’ve been using Quip and its app for over three years now. While it is an undeniably beautiful app that usually works, it can be buggy and some of these quirks have remained present for years now. For example:

    1. The Bluetooth connection bug: When you turn Bluetooth off and then on again on your phone (you may need to do this for several reasons), the app often disconnects from your device and you may have to uninstall and reinstall it. In the meantime, you may lose data from your brushes. Sometimes this also happens after an app update also. Very frustrating!

    2. Statistics: Percentage of time the app shows on your upper and lower teeth still isn’t accurate. This is a forever beta, I suppose.

    3. Brush types: We’ve finally, a year after the initial release of the Pride brush, gained the ability to properly identify it in the app. Better late than never, I guess.

Overall when the app works, it works well. Some of this may seem nitpicky, but I just think after three years (especially as Quip continues to add features) some of this should get better.

  • Good concept, feels like first draft

After struggling to get my kids to brush regularly and throughly, these first two days were VERY promising. They were excited to brush and see their points accumulate.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem created to know about multiple people using the smart brushes, just multiple brushes assigned to me.
When I open app, it shows brushing stats but no indication that it’s just for kid 1 (brush 1). It should say that at the top.
Then to switch to kid 2, I have to go into settings and select brush 2. It should just be a swipe from the main UI. (With labels to show which brush I’m on)
Also, if I add floss or rinse to kid 1, it also marks kid 2 as doing the floss/rinse. These aren’t tracked separately. (Brushing seems to track as expected)

  • kinda like it. kinda dont.

I really do enjoy the toothbrush and the idea of earning points to get cash off of other quip products.
But the app not having any widgets to make a quick mark of completion for the day, makes it hard to log in the app twice a day every day.
You also get notifications all the time for random sweep skates that you may or may not be interested in. I know today I received three notifications and I always wake up with a couple.
Not sure if I’m gonna keep the app, but I like the toothbrush itself.
  • Best toothbrush; good app!

The app has improved a lot! I used to have syncing issues, but those seem to be gone now.

I still can’t delete the regular brush, so it shows the smart brush and the normal one. Kind of annoying, but not a big deal.

The UI currently doesn’t look great on iPhones with Dynamic Island as some of the graphics are “underneath” it. Would love to see the “syncing” notification come down from the island and then go back up.

Please add a widget for the Home Screen and the option to customize the dashboard and navigation bar (remove goals like floss, hide tips, reorganize, etc). Pull to refresh would also be nice.

The only real gripe I have is the points animation. It takes forever to count up to the number of points you have. I’d suggest removing it or just have each individual number scroll in.

    Keep up the good work!
  • App is ok, but…

The app is well thought and functions well. Major downfall for families though. I have one app as my kids dont have their own phones/emails, so we share. We also dont have the smart brushes. The only option for adding a brush is to upgrade to the smart brush. Wish there was the ability to add users under the same account that were easily switched between. For us, the app doesn’t fit the use of those who need the fun reminders the most….the kids of the house.
