Ledge prime connectivity janky

For a supposed one stop connectivity app for your new grill non of the software is easy to operate let alone connect to. I rate this app lower than a one star

The YouTube videos of the ledge prime are out dated and skip a lot of the finer details related to connecting to your bbq

Frozen Mess

I get past the sign in and the app freezes up - you can’t scroll or move in anyway but backwards. Wildly frustrating. I deleted and re-downloaded three times and the same thing - I loved my Daniel Boone (I think that’s what it’s called) I will probably love this new one too, but it’s already got a demerit because it has no working app!

The App Is Terrible

Love the grill but GMG’s app support is sub par. When I first got the grill I had to download their old app, directly connect to the grill, & update the firmware. Only then could I use the new app. Nowhere does GMG explain this. Used this app a few times while grilling and it worked fine. Then went to use my grill and the app had deleted my grill out. When I went to “add a new grill” it found it right away, but then refused to actually connect. Meanwhile while it was attempting and failing to connect it was giving me temperature updates for my grill it supposedly couldn’t connect to. Just frustrating to even bother with.

Terrible app, wish I bought a traeger

Bought the grill for the advertised app functions. It’s basically non functioning! Wish I had bought a traeger. The wifi and prime app do not work at all. Complete trash! GMG should be ashamed to provide such a poor product. Despite terrible reviews they still advertise FULL FUNCTIONALITY! Horrible false advertising

Seems to work?

I have the GMG Ledge Prime Grill. I used the GMG prime app yesterday for the first time to smoke some fresh caught trout. I used the server mode and disconnected my phone from my wifi to see how it would work if I was monitoring my grill with data from work or while on the go which I plan to do when I’m smoking a brisket for 16 hours or something like that…

The app worked perfectly. It started the grill, I was able to set the temperature, I was able to set the grill to stop when my trout reached the desired internal temp, and the cook went precisely as I programmed it. The trout reached internal temp of 150 and the grill shut off. I monitored the entire time to be sure the numbers on the app matched the numbers on the grill and the internal temp i checked with an analog meat prob and it was correct. So far, in terms of functionality, I can’t complain about anything the app is great and has lots of customizable features to control your cooks.

Why 4 stars? - I’m 34 years old, and while not a tech junky, I know my way around technology. It wasn’t hard to download the original app, input the serial number as a password, update the firmware, shut down the grill, turn it back on, wait two minutes, install the prime app, connect to the grill with the serial number password, updatethe firmware again, turn off the grill, turn it back on, wait two minutes, connect the app to the grill with the wifi, then set up the server mode… honestly it wasn’t hard, but it’s completely mental. It felt like I was a bell technician installing a satellite dish for a client in 1995. Completely ridiculous. There should be a much simpler way to complete this process, because I can certainly tell why so many people are getting incredibly frustrated with setting up the app. As easy as it was to do, it is just as easy to miss a step and the instructions are anything but clear.

App abandoned

Does not even connect to update. How disappointing.

Cant connect

Purchased the Prime Ledge almost two months ago, mainly because of the promised ability to monitor my smoking with an app. So far I can’t connect to the grill. I’ve been in touch with support twice and sent two emails, but unfortunately all I was able to do was update my firmware via the old App to v2.3. I have been told an iOS update is around the corner, though haven't seen anything.

I think the app can be better

I think there should be a "lid sensor" option. I don't want the smoker to pump in pellets when I open the lid to pull out food or to check bark. There should be a option to delay 5-7mins to wait for the temp to stabilize.

I dont know if I'm on the most recent firmware. The app always says update. I'm on the GMG Trek Prime. I also think firmware logs should be available online rather than through the app only.

Switch from Legacy app to Prime app

My Legacy was steady but I wanted to see if there was any benefit moving to the Prime app. I wanted to see how the temp monitor feature worked. At first I thought it was great but got disappointed when I increased the temperature. I started at 225° and the set temperature and the grill temperature look great when I increased the temperature to 400° the set temperature went to 0° but the grill temperature did proceed to 400°. I then increase the temperature to 500° and the set temperature remained add zero on the graph, but the temperature did increase on the grill to 500 and the line looks steady. The other thing I noticed when you set up the Wi-Fi it creates a profile and when you set up the server it creates another profile. GMG should create a video on how to use the Prime app.

About to switch to a Yoder

Have had my Jim Bowie Prime for about 2 years, and the legacy app was pretty terrible.

The new app is terrible in new ways I could not imagine, like it keeps saying Probe 1 is disconnected over and over.

Anyhow, the grill itself has just about every part replaced under warranty, and both the grill and app are…let me put this nicely…very unreliable.

When you have over $150 worth of meat on the line, the last thing you need is for the grill to fail (or the app not tell you something has failed). You not only lose money, but can’t provide a meal for a large group of people counting on you.

Seriously looking at a Yoder or some other brand of smoker so I can dump this thing back to Costco.
