Scans are not processing correctly

I saw this app advertised a month or two back and I was curious to try it out against Evernote or Expensify. I initially like the scan feature and it’s ability to cut and make make clean copies of the receipts or documents I was scanning. However after a few times I started to notice inconsistencies and errors. Several of my scanned documents were scanning blurry, and automatically coming up with the wrong business name, date, etc. A scan for let’s say Starbucks Coffee would display as “spectrum” with a bogus date. So I found myself having to manually adjust the error. Additionally the scans were coming out blurry for documents or not always auto cropping on large receipts. Additionally the app doesn’t appear to save this info to the cloud so I’m concerned my info won’t back up and be saved if I lose my phone. Additionally it would be nice to have a way to sun group receipts or categories based on store/practitioner/topic/etc. rather than by year. I also find that the document size for scanning is difficult to collect when trying to take photos. The emailing of receipts and not stop email confirmations and having to manually enter in the info for the receipts is also annoying. Apple app receipts were not scanning as the vendor and only appearing as apple. Super annoying.

Otherwise I like the app and hope they can make some improvements to make this more function-able.

Organized

That’s what I’m hoping to gain is some organization to my life. It’s easy to use and it’s wonderful not folding receipts in my purse only to have to many and I get overwhelmed and throw them away only to promise to be better next time! So far I’m very happy with SimplyWise.

App is great, pricing scheme not so much

So far I've done the week trial and have enjoyed the app and how it mostly works. I think I've only had one receipt that didn't populate the info but I think that was because it was an old and faded one. The email function has worked decently as well, just have to remember to get the right email.

The few things that I didn't like, and the reason why I'm only giving it 4 stars are: 1) the app doesn't seem to always save the settings. I think I've gone through the "set up account" thing like 4 times and it's still coming up. 2) the pricing scheme. In the app there's two choices, base and business. Simple enough, right? Well you'd think so but if you look in your subscriptions or even in the app on the app store, there's at least 8 different options, with no explanation about what they do. If they're old options, they probably shouldn't be shown let alone be able to pick them.

Other than that, the app is great.

To be transparent, those other prices are these other prices on the list are a "relic" of our old pricing models, which we have "grandfathered" our early users into. AMAZING finance tracker!!!

I got this thinking it could be a bust but it turned out to be AMAZING. It scans receipts, cards, documents, bills, inputs all the information automatically, tells you whether you have a return deadline on a receipt and can add it to your calendar! It’s incredible! I highly recommend it!

Love the features, but the dollar amount on individual items keeps turning up way wrong

I thought this app was so cool, especially because you could select individual items within receipts and move them to different folders or categories. For example if I bought home goods and personal items, I could select the personal items to go in that folder and the home goods to go in a separate folder. That is amazing. However, the whole concept is ruined because the scanner doesn’t input the amounts of those items correctly. The amount as a whole is correct but it kept getting WAY off when it came to each item within a receipt. Deleted my subscription right away. If they can fix that issue within the app it would be well worth the 24 dollars a year

Needs improvement

I’ve had this app for a couple weeks now and have probably scanned 25 receipts. I have had to go in and manually correct amounts on almost every receipt. If the receipts are very short, it isn’t as much of an issue but sometimes they are very long and I’m only able to have the line items automatically show up for the first image, then it appears I have to manually enter the remaining items. Very tedious and time consuming. If this is what I need to do, I’m just going to cancel and resume my boring excel spreadsheets.

Easy & saves time

This app is so user friendly. I have very little time and travel frequently. I no longer have to keep track of reciepts or important forms as everything is here. I keep track of my expenses, tax write offs, and can email myself the information as needed. They also provide free webinars for how best to use the app!

Excellent!!!

This app does more than you’d expect and with their latest upgrade it’s super fast. The fact you can make your own folders, parse receipts into different folders and the great resolution of the images is fantastic. Also it’ll remind you when your window to return or exchange items is coming to an end - if that’s important to you. Could be very handy!!!

Where have you been all my life?

I’m going to sound dramatic but this is true… I’ve been looking for an app like this for SO long! I’ve tried so many other apps but they didn’t have the features I needed. I resigned myself to buying a receipt scanner, which is not cheap, and even that didn’t work as well as this little app does. I have to admit that I cringed at the yearly fee but I got to test it out for free for one week and saw how well it works. The fee boils down to about $2/mo AND allows me to get rid of receipt clutter and organize my receipts (and other documents like prescriptions, etc) digitally. It looks like the app creators are pretty responsive as well, if I ever have any issues. I can’t ask for anything more (well, “free” would be nice, but what can ya do?)

Easy scanning, logging and exporting all in one!

This has been a huge timesaver to address piles of receipts by providing a solution to not only import expenses easily and correctly but also itemize for exporting. Categorization of expenses makes the export easy to navigate. SimplyWise team has provided excellent support for questions and updates and shown to devote time and effort for continuous improvement from its users. 5+ stars!
