Plan your trip

TODAY is 1 JUNE. Entered from and to information. Tried selecting a date.

selecting any date past 28 June is not accepted by the app.

Rome2rio and other websites can show train and bus times in the future but this app is VERY LIMITED.!

Does the bare minimum but trash design

The app does it’s job by allowing you to purchase tickets that are actually 24 hours from when you activate it rather than other cities with their “24 hour” tickets ending at 6:00 am. That’s the only positive thing.

When I try to tap in and out of buses, trams, train stations, the reader has so much trouble reading the barcode. Even at 30 cm away, the reader triggers the wallet on the iPhone covering the displayed barcode. And when it doesn’t, it doesn’t read it. On many occasions I’ve needed to have someone who’s working at the train station to let me and my partner past the turn style. Not to mention, we’ve missed multiple trains struggling to get into stations for 5-10 minutes at a time.

The developers of this app need to allow for the ticket to be registered to the wallet app to avoid this as well as make your readers better.

Needs improvement

Glad I bought a paper (72h) ticket given some of the reviews. But just for navigation this app needs a lot of work. The “map” doesn’t even show transit lines. The actual train map is buried. So I can’t see which direction the various (tram) lines are heading and Amsterdam has a very confusing layout. It also doesn’t even show all of the tram stops on the map. Like you can see the Google maps version underlying the interface but there is no “Tram” label to click on to see which trams service that stop. Google maps does a much better job.

NFC causes wallet pop up

When displaying a QR code and you get near the reader, nfc causes the wallet to pop up. Developers can disable this but they haven’t. It makes it almost impossible to scan a code.

GVB app steals your money!

Purchased a 24h unlimited use ticket for €9. Activated the ticket around 15h00. All went well at first. Then around 22h00 I tried using my ticket again and it was gone. Just … evaporated into nothingness.

The GVB app seems to be nothing more than a way to steal your money without actually giving you what you legitimately purchased.

Tracking and scanning

App was fairly easy to obtain the ticket - but scanning through the barriers was a hit and miss - sometimes I was required to go to the barrier next door as the scanner would simply not pick up the QR code
Biggest issue is that one is Required to create an account, but one cannot retrieve an invoice?

Garbage way to do public transit

Frustrating experience….don’t buy through a 3rd party app….they make you visit a service station and wait in the queue to activate the voucher.
Lots of frustrated people waiting here with me.

Ticket deleted

It deleted my 48 hour ticket after 24 hours

Not great!

This app is not very good compared to most other Europe cities. It really works poorly with Apple phones and Apple Pay - every time you try and scan QR code it switches on Apple Pay. Also you can’t buy several of the group or multi use cards at terminals (on paper or chip cards) forcing you to use the bad App.
