I loved saving my holiday spending money on the card for Turkey. We used it for all shopping and meals out while on holiday. I had over £200 left on the card but in the airport in the way back it was declined in 2 shops and worked in 2 shops? I ended using my own cash and uk bank card

Update- after advice and help it was an issue with the retailer not accepting the card and not the card. There was no wifi in the airport and that never helped me either as wanted to check help options. I am already saving for my next holiday on the card and recommended to my sister who also now has one 👍 safer then carrying cash and very convenient

In relation to the card not working in 2 shops in which you tried, I would recommend ringing card services. The only reason I could think of this not working is that the retailer in which you went into didn't support that specific card. Card services number is 08000560572. Take cash less hassle

This card was meant to make our holiday easier. Instead it made it a stressful holiday. Phoned customer service on the 2nd day of our holiday to say I could log in to my card account to top it up got an advisor who was not very well trained went through the whole process trying to get me logged in and didn’t really know what he was doing. Told me someone from technical support was going to phone me that day to get my card able to top up money. Phone call never happened. Spoke to two advisors on web chat after an hour each said the did know how to sort it and phone customer service again told them I was waiting on a phone call back so they said just to wait.
Got back intouch with a customer service advisor on the phone a couple of days later. Worried if I spent the money in my card and not being able to top up I would run out of money. Advisor told me technical support has 5 days to phone a customer what use is that on a weeks holiday. Eventually got my card working by the Thursday and able to top up. Put in a complaint to the relevant department and was told it wasn’t a serious problem. Being stuck abroad not being able to top up a payment card. Got an apology saying it shouldn’t of happened. And the complaint was now closed.

Card

This is a brilliant card I wouldn’t be without it now. The only problem I find is when I go on to the app it won’t always log you in, I have to wait for a day for it to reload. Other than that I won’t be taking much currency with me any more. What I also love about the card is that I can load follies onto the card when I have extra cash to let go.

CONVENIENT

Most of my travel is to Europe and to have my ready supply of euros on this card is so neat ! Quickly i can track my spending while out of UK and keep this outwith my other cards. “HAYS” often have top up weekends with special rates ,THUMBS UP! And for my needs , the card has so far always been welcomed when I’ve used on my travels from buying spectacles to the automatic payment turnstiles for train travel in Spain.
However i do find it rather “clunky” eg every time i login it suggests it is the first time i have used it ?! And therefore have to re-aquaint & pass their checks, no great problem and i suppose security is a plus ?

Great travel card

I have used my Hayes Travel Card a lot . I find it so easy and with the app you can check your balance regularly, exchange the currency for all your different travel and add on money when needed. I recently came back from Rhodes and have another week away in Tenerife next month. I have still got money on my card and it’s so widely accepted I will just add to my balance each week and by next month I’ll have my spending money . It feels a much safer option

Alright!

Been using Tui Card for years, as it was coming to expiry date, changed to Hays card. Got all set up & was really impressed with the topping up by Apple Pay, none of the faffing about with cards etc. Really easy to use card being contactless, the app is very easy to navigate round. However, day 2 of holidays & it crashed with me! Got my partner to load app into his phone before I deleted it & downloaded it again! This is now getting to be a daily occurrence now, it crashes on both our phones, I downloaded it again last night & just went to check it this morning…crashed again!

First Time User

First time I had a travel card, within 30 hours into my holiday it was stolen along with my phone. Customer line answered at the first ring, within minutes my card was locked and was offered money to be wired to a western union so I wasn’t left stranded! Customer service line is 24 hours, just feel they couldn’t of helped more. Will be using again!

Great app with one bug/issue

The addition of Apple apart to the app came just in time for our holiday and the app has been great for monitoring and reloading our card.

However one bug/issue (and this is not limited to this app) is when scanning a debit card to top up the app won’t use the close camera on my iPhone 15 Pro so you can’t get a clear image. Doesn’t really matter as I can just enter the details manually.

Reasonably easy

Logging on is a nuisance because customer enters name on card, last 4 digits on card, then password as the last thing to enter. Password entered and it wipes out those last 4 card digits and they have to be entered again. Logging on details should be in order so that you don’t have to go back over it and enter details twice. Other than that it isn’t bad, although even the Hays “special” exchange rate is way below the exchange rate if ordering currency on line. Convenience of having the card I suppose

Highly recommend

Very easy to set up and use. Have now transferred euros to another currency after being told in Hays that if the cashier transferred the balance it would cost me, this transaction was easy as anything to complete. If I can do this, then you certainly can, I’m in no way technically minded. You get a running balance from your card and where you’ve spent it
