It’s fun

I used to play Pitch years ago, but we didn’t play it exactly how it’s played here. There are no directions to really tell us how to play it. Used to be when we would count up our points at the end, that the Ace king queen and ten were high points and the jack was worth the highest points. However, we used to play the Trump was always a Spade. The players would always try to get the jack of spades because that was the most valuable card. You could get it with an ace king or queen of spades, but the jack was worth more points in the end.

Your method of playing with spades always being trump is interesting. We have not seen that variation yet. This is one element that makes the Pitch games fun: the large variety of rule options. We are continuing to add new options and will consider the spades alway trump option. Enjoy!

Ads Galore

This is arguably the best pitch game in the App Store. It used to just be one ad per march, which was fine, but you get an ad after every hand or two. Even though you can skip after 5 seconds, it’s super annoying and throws off the flow of the game. Otherwise it would be a five-star rating from me.
They will never revert back to less ads. Apps never do. They get a taste of the money and don’t turn back. I’d rather pay a buck or two for the game and not have to deal with the ads at all.

Thank you for your review. We are working to improve the ad-based experience. The ad frequency should be based no time, so you should be able to play several hands between ads. We will check into this. We offer an in-app purchase to remove ads if you prefer.

Great Variations

I like the ability to set this up the way we play pitch. One exception, can a rule be added for following, if trump is led, must play trump. We play with off suits but once you are out of trump and trump is led you are out.

AI definitely needs some work. Bidding was too aggressive but when I lowered that the AI was not good. Playing a king on the opponents ace when they had other cards to play was a frequent issue.

Glad to hear you are enjoying NeuralPlay Pitch. Thank you for your review. Thank you for the rule suggestion. Currently, if trump is led, must play trump, is the default rule. However, we will have to add the "you are out of the play when you are out of trump rule". We will add this to our list. We are working on AI improvements. The AI on level 3 is rule-based, it has human designed rules so it should play more like you expect. If it does not, let us know at support@neuralplay.com, this will help us improve the rules. Levels 4+ use a Monte Carlo Simulation to estimate the best plays. This AI method does play better than level 3 overall, but it does make some odd plays. We are working on improvements here too.

AI is overconfident and needlessly aggressive

When you set the game to easy mode, it doesn’t give you better cards. It just makes the AI stupider. I’ve had hands where I have won three points on someone else’s bid.

Also, it seems like there is always going to be one player destined to win from the first hand. That player will receive amazing cards all game long and win going away. There are not enough close games.

Thank you for your review. The deals are not biased to any seat for any level. With more play, the luck should balance out. Level 3 is a pretty good quality play for starting. The AI is quite aggressive in the bidding, you may want to reduce the aggressiveness of the AI in settings. For the most challenging games, we suggest level 6 with the default settings for the AI bidding aggressiveness.

Great app but the longer you use/play this app over time the more adds you encounter. Also, your partner starts making poor choices when bidding & hand playing that gets worse over the time/days you play.

Great pitch app!

Been using this app for two weeks.
The custom settings allow all the rules and preferences I need.
The only issue that I’ve experienced so far and I’m not sure if it is a problem with the Pitch app but the Royal Match app advertisement plays audio in the background.

This is the BEST online pitch game available, and I’ve played/tried them ALL being a “pitch lover”. The customization features are the best as is the statistics reporting. Very limited and quick adds. So if you’re a pitch lover, try this one out, you’ll never go back. My thanks goes out to the designers & developers!

Fun until…

I really liked this pitch app; until… I realized that it was not scoring correctly and it makes bad plays for the other players. I started noticing that many times when I made my bid; it would incorrectly show that I went up. Also, it would have other players lead with a 2 of trump when they had non scoring trump in their hand. Many plays that most players would not make. Please fix it and make it fun again.

Thank you for your review. We are not aware of scoring issues. The settings may be confused. Please try Main Screen - Menu - Reset to get back to our default settings. If you find again, please send us a screenshot of the Menu - Play Log to support@neuralplay.com and will work on a fix. We are continuing to make AI improvements. When you see a bad play, if possible, please send us a screenshot of the Play Log and we will work on a fix.

The Best????

I really enjoy playing pitch however, where I live not many people have heard of the game. So I rely on these apps. Yours had been the best. Now I have discovered a big flaw in the program , it doesn’t like to lose. I have changed the settings. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it but it still is the same.. When east or west has the bid each of them will have 3-4 trump in hand.., when my partner has trump I have none. My partner bids 3 consistently and loses 80% of those bids. Lastly when I am left with the bid I will not have any face cards in my hand at least 75% of the time… I am not a hard loser I’m still playing and I will win a game or two. I have learned to only bid when you have an ace because your opponent has it ! I only want to let you know what I think I have noticed about your game… I have played others and I will stick with yours.. I was hoping you could make it a little more fair Thanks Norm
I am still having the same issue with your game… you took the time and responded to me and said that it was all random… however I don’t really believe it
I will admit that I make mistakes and I am not a perfect player…. But the constant three bids by my partner and I can see that he doesn’t even have three trump in his hand is wrong… and that is definitely on you

Glad to hear you are enjoying NeuralPlay Pitch. Thank you for your review. The deals are not biased to any seat. It is just luck. We play on levels 1 and 2 for a relaxing game. Levels 4+ use an advanced Monte Carlo Simulation AI. Roughly, this deals many hands of the unknown cards and plays them to the end, trying each legal play (or bid). The best legal play on average is chosen. This results in some good plays on the higher levels. And of course a few bad ones too. We are continuing to work on improvements and have made some recently. Please check out our recent update.

Not the game I grew up with; not available.

Has lots of errors. Choices of rules not easy to set. I want old rules: high, low, jacks, jokers, game, owner of low gets point. No discarding. How do I get this? And what kind of rules say you don't have to follow suit! Several times I have won a point only to have it given to the other team. I'm 80 and I have had knowledge of this game since I was nine. It's fun with you, but different and strange.

We are working on ways to make this easier to set up you favorite version. You should be able to get to your rules by using the Custom Rules settings. Then from the Main Screen, dial the rules spinner to the bottom to choose "Custom" and start a new game. Please email us at support@neuralplay.com for additional help.
