  • Notifications not working for months now

Love this app but notifications have not been working for months now. I have it set up to notify at a certain time and when protection is required. Neither work. I have to manually go into the app to find out when protection is required. Please fix this. That was a great feature.

    Developer Response

Hi, thank you for your patience. Our development team are currently investigating why the notifications have stopped sending on your device. We are confident that a solution will be implemented shortly. In the meantime, we recommend checking the app to understand when sun protection is required
  • UV Wrong

I have just deleted the app and got the Willy Weather app instead. For the last month at least this app has consistently given the wrong UV index. I found myself having to constantly check it against other websites. Last night it was saying UV was 9.3 at 5:30 at night and also saying that sun protection was no longer needed after 5:30. I checked elsewhere and UV was at 3. Waste of time having this if it doesn’t achieve it’s only purpose.

  • Great app, Wrong data!

IF THE DATA WASN’T WRONG! I’d give this app 5 stars. Have used it for years. Have just discovered that Springwood NSW (and Faulconbridge, Linden & possibly others) is one hour different to nearby suburbs Blaxland and Lawson. I cover up religiously during the sun protection times and have just discovered that I’ve been unknowingly exposing myself to UV for one hour each day. I really hope this error can be fixed quickly.

  • Good but could be better

I just downloaded the app and I like the live UV index and ability to have different locations. However I’m constantly checking whether the current UV index is low, medium or high range etc. by clicking into the about UV info under more to determine where the ranking sits (I’ve got a bad memory eventually I’ll remember!). But instead I think this should be prominent on the front screen with matching colours highlighting the current UV category so it’s easy to know at a glance and I can make decisions on sun protection/activities etc.

  • Notifications not working

UV alert notifications are not working, and haven’t been for at least a month. Have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, and changing alert settings with nothing working. On an iPhone 8, and app notifications are allowed in settings
  • UV Index is WRONG!

29 Oct 2023: 10:20am in Qld, typical hot sunny day here, the Live Index is quoting UV index is 2.2!!! That is actually unsafe. App says data is collected from Brisbane, which is almost 2hrs from here. Very unsafe!

ETA 10 Nov 2023: Thanks for suggesting I email you, except that I already did with all the info you listed below as well as screen shots in October, and you haven’t replied. Seems lots of people are having this issue with your app being inaccurate and all you can say is “please email us”

Hi Natelle. Thank you for your feedback and we would like to investigate this location issue further. As a first step, we can recommend removing and re-adding your location. If that does not resolve your issue, please email sunsmart.enquiries@cancervic.org.au with your location, the device you are using and a description of the issue you are experiencing, so that we can investigate this issue further with our technical team.
  • Great idea making this global

Can’t have been easy getting data from so many locations around the world, awesome work!
  • Thanks for this great app!

This free app is fantastic! Save your skin and protect yourself. Thanks for the awesome work on this app!
  • Widgets

This app is good and easy to use but I think a widget would make it easier to see the information without the need to open the app, such as when to use sun protection
  • Life-saving information here

As a skin cancer survivor, I’m acutely aware of the dangers associated with the sun. I don’t want anyone else to sit across from their surgeon and be told that they have melanoma and need invasive surgery. The solution is simple, and it’s in everyone’s hands: get the UVI on your phone. This app is easy to use, global in reach (I have used it in Canada, Europe and the Mediterranean) and, free. Did I mention that it’s free? Excellent work by the team that made it happen. Highly recommended. PK
