  • Can’t add any new locations

I usually love love love this app, thank you. But for the past week I have been trying to add a new location and can’t. I have reinstalled the app a couple of times and now cannot add ANY locations including my usual place of residence. I can’t get past the “find your location” screen. Please fix as the app is now unusable.

Hi, we are sorry to hear about your recent experience. We have rectified our location function and you should be able to add in your location details. Please let us know if you continue to have any issues via email at SunSmart.Enquiries@cancervic.org.au.
  • Is there a home widget available?

A good app tracking UV index, but I couldn’t find any home widget for the version I’m using, that would be much more convenient if there is a widget that automatically updates the latest index, and I can make a glance rather than open the app the know the number, thanks developers, need widgets for this app!

  • Inaccurate UV data & Change to overall data sources

Hi, I have installed this App being the new version to your original SunSmart App and I find it is a poor substitute for your original SunSmart App. The new App, version 1.4.1, does not provide accurate UV data. I’m located in QLD and as an example, at the time of writing this feedback your original App confirms the current UV is 7 however on the new App it states the current UV is 4.2. This is a dramatic difference and for some individuals could mean the difference between wearing sunscreen and sun protection and not. My other concern is where the weather data is being sourced from on the App. The data provided on this App is being sourced from ECMFW, World Meteorological Organisation and Arpansa. As a comparison, on the original App, version 3.0.13, the data is local to Australia, being sourced from bureau of meteorology and Australian radiation protection and nuclear safety agency.

Hello and thank you for downloading the app. Could you please email sunsmart.enquiries@cancervic.org.au your location, device and the specific issue you are experiencing so we can investigate with our technical team. The weather source is similar between the old and new app, both Australian sources being the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA). Thank you.
  • Make the actual UV readings bigger and legible!!

Nice to see the app go global but for heavens sake the UV numbers are tiny, and low contrast so on a phone extremely hard to read especially outside in the sun or for older people. Very poor useability and far too much wasted space on the screen. For anyone with more than a passing interest in their exposure the actual reading values are a must. The “use protection” graphic arc dominates but is a pretty dumb indicator as weather conditions change across the day and it bever changes on a day regardless of the weather. Older app far more useable.

  • “Re-apply sunscreen” feature not included in new version

I use this app daily and it’s great, though what I miss most from the previous version are the reminders/notification to reapply sunscreen 2 hours after application. I’d love to see this feature incorporated into the new app so I can fully transition into using just the new version and not both, as I am currently doing to get those reminders. It’s also a great way to remind people that sunscreen must be reapplied to be effective and a once off application in the morning is not sufficient for proper sun protection

  • Squinting

I’ve used the original Sun Smart app for nearly two years & love it. This new version is also great except for the size of the UV readout. It’s TOO SMALL! My dog has Pannus so UV is vital to me & I don’t have my reading glasses with me when out walking or hiking. PLEASE make the UV readout the same size as in the original app.

  • good forecasts & a clear index

the app is fairly simple, with an easy & clear to use interface. the forecast stretches for 4 days in my location. it might forecast a full week in other locations, I guess? but the app lacks a widget - please add an iOS widget.
  • Fahrenheit temperatures?

Just installed the app. I live in the U.S. and cannot find a way to display weather temperatures in Fahrenheit rather than the default Celsius. Checked Settings and elsewhere; there might be a way, but I can't find it. As a former skin cancer patient, I think I can still find the app useful, but I would like not to do all those C to F calculations.

  • Very helpful

Really gives good insight in to the UV ratings and just how high they can be even on overcast or in seemingly conditions where you think that you wouldn’t get burnt.
Very helpful, so get out there and slip, slop, slap, slide and seek shade 👍
  • Wonderful App

Thanks to the Cancer Council in Australia even those of us who live off the coast of Maine, USA have the ability to judge the necessity of wearing sunscreens. It is completely free and it works. I feel that I have been either wearing too much or too little protection over the years. Now there is an app for that!
