I think I wrote a review when I first got this app because I was so impressed. I can’t find it, so just in case I didn’t, I want to do another review now that I have used this app for many months.
This app is very impressive. I work for a software company and I know how important the user experience is. This app has everything that I can think of that I need in a recipe management tool and it is intuitive and extremely easy to use. I am a home cook, so perhaps if you use this for more commercial ventures you could think of improvements. It does everything I need and then some extremely well.
Thanks to the developer that came up with this app! I like to cook, but this has increased my desire to cook and to try new recipes. It is so easy to capture any recipe I find that I have a lot more in my repertoire.

Thank you very much for your review! -JeffI am so furious, I have been using this app for about two months. I wouldn’t say I love the app but it met the minimum requirement of allowing my sisters and I to share recipes with each other in a relatively easy and accessible way. All the sudden, as of today, we’re getting a pop up to pay for a subscription to continue to use it. There was no mention of a subscription when we signed up or that we would eventually need one to continue to use the app. We thought, maybe we reached the maximum number of “free” recipes. So we deleted some… NOPE! Now our recipes are deleted AND we can’t add more because it’s requiring a subscription. THANKS A LOT. Maybe warn your users you’re switching to a subscription to continue to use your app. All of us are so furious, we will no longer be using the app and will find a new (and hopefully better) way to share recipes with each other.

After your free trial expires, you need a subscription to continue using the app. This information is included in Umami's App Store page and the website's FAQ. I love being able to import recipes from any source, even scanning a piece of paper, and adding it to my recipe book. And the feature where you can add ingredients to your grocery list in the app from the recipes is amazing. It even groups it by what section of the store each item should be in. We bought the family plan for life after 1 week of using it.

The absolute best for easy upload, not having to scroll forever to get down to the recipe or have multiple apps open to save, automatically catalogs, helpful tagging, saves nutritional info, and is so easily searchable. Love the meal plan and grocery list feature and it’s perfect for sharing planning with a partner. Makes it so much easier to save new recipes to keep things fresh, too! 10/10🤩🤩

Thank you so much for the review! -JeffI love all of the features that this app has to offer, importing and creating recipes is quick, easily accessible, and streamlined so you don’t miss a step. The UI is clean and synonymous with IOS, which is something I appreciate for no reason at all. The grocery list is great, it’s easy to edit item categories and other information. I have no negative things to say about this app, all features are great, only requests for additional features in hopes of it becoming a better app.
- I would love if there was a general ‘Calendar’ instead of only a meal plan “calendar”. The meal plan feature is extremely useful but a general Calendar that incorporates all of the meal plan features would be the most useful.
- More customization with cookbooks! Cover photos, index pages, maybe side bar subcategories? The ability to tag recipes is great! But a cleaner cookbook page would make finding recipes a little easier!

Although I own Paprika, I intend to buy Unami once my trial ends. Two features I’d love (or haven’t found) is the ability to rate recipes. At the moment I’m using separate lists (5 stars, 4 stars, Yuck…). When I’m adding meals to my menu, I’d like to be able to see what days are empty. This view exists when I’m in “Meals” but not when adding. Everything else seems perfect so far.
I happen to see a comment on a Reddit post about this app. I’ve been through so many recipe apps in the past, I finally had resorted to just keeping recipes in my notes.
I love the ease I can import recipes from websites, I love being able to enter my own recipes and I love being able to meal plan & create my grocery list in one place. Thank you so much for this app!!

The ease in importing recipes, making meals plans from those recipes and then making grocery lists from those meal plans so amazing. An Android version of the app is in the works! -JeffI’ve used Paprika for years, and only found out about this app when a family member shared their cookbook with me. Love that you can have multiple members on the same subscription, and the UI is much more modern and pleasing to the eye than some of the other apps out there.
Super easy to transition from Paprika to Umami, and I’m loving everyone about this app so far. Both web import and scanning of physical recipes have worked seamlessly.
Some wishlist items:
1. Ability to see from the recipe view all the times it was used in a meal plan (i.e. cross linking from recipe -> meal plan, currently only available in the other direction)
2. Alternate view of recipes that’s less of a grid format but allows more information to show about each recipe without having to click in (eg tags)
3. Embedding TikTok/Instagram recipe videos from links
But those are truly just wishlist items, app is already very functional as is.

I have a million bookmarks on my phone that has been stopping me from switching my phone browser from safari, so I’ve been moving all my recipes over to this app. And the process has been fun to look at all the recipes I’ve collected in such a great and clean interface. I love that I’m able to just buy this outright instead of having to pay each month. The tagging system makes me so happy. The only one thing I see that could make this better (if I haven’t overlooked that I can already do this) is adding a new tag and then being able to go through and quickly select recipes to add to the tag instead of having to open each recipe and add it. Thank you so much for creating this amazing app 💕 I’m so excited to be able to have all my recipes in one place!
