  • Easy to use and SO convenient

I just started using this incredibly efficient ap to sort and view all my favorite recipes. The ability to add right from all my favorite recipe sites is great. No more searching through my Notes folder and texts from friends. There is a place to add notes or comments from me but I wish reviews of a recipe could be placed at the top. Since I share this with friends and family I would appreciate comments front and center.
Everything I’ve added has been with my phone. It’s just that easy.
  • So happy to have found this app!

Clean interface (which is really important for me to actually WANT to use any app), plenty of features that I actually use, import/enter recipes in multiple ways, I love the scaling (though I do wish it could scale down from cups to tablespoons), intuitive, works great with my neurodivergent brain, 100% recommend!

And I would always rather support somebody who put a lot of time and effort into their product instead of some established brand that’s trying to make more money by expanding into apps and don’t put enough effort into their product.

  • The best app for recipe management around

Paprika kept deleting recipes, cutting them off, and had several versions. Umami is a perfect alternative. You can scan, upload from the web, edit easily, and sort into smaller books. I do wish you could link say three recipes into a themed meal- like say an appetizer, meat, and sauce that go well together- for example a Christmas Eve Dinner within Mom’s Recipe Book. Honestly that’s nitpicky because the app is intuitive and visually pleasing and I could barely think of anything missing. Told all my friends to get it so I could share recipes too. The ability to add notes is amazing

  • Only Paid Option Available Now

I do like this app, but I would’ve liked to know before downloading that it was actually a paid app with a tiny window to trial the app’s features. No upload capability without paid services, which would’ve been fine had not all of the app reviews mentioned how amazing it was that this app was free 😅

Wish the trial period could’ve been longer bc I don’t use recipe apps everyday, so the trial period closed before I got to try it much.

Hi, thank you for your review. Umami’s App Store page discusses the 30-day free trial and lists the three types of subscriptions: monthly, annual and lifetime. You can always view and export your recipes, even without a subscription. -Jeff
  • Well done

Wonderful app. Need to edit my previous review to say I spoke too soon, and it does prevent the screen from locking while cooking. Although I’d prefer if prevented locking whenever the app is open, not just after pressing start cooking. That’s a small nit pic though, overall a delight to use.
  • Well done

Really well done app with all the features you want and none that you don’t.

Unfortunately there is one very important feature for me that it appears to be lacking…which is the disabling of screen auto lock at the app level. Having to constantly unlock your phone while bouncing between cooking and referencing recipe is a huge annoyance. Nytimes cooking has this feature, and it’s a big reason why I mostly use their app. This isn’t something users can set at the app level, only globally, but hopefully developers can! Otherwise wonderful app.

Thanks for your review! If you tap "Start cooking" when you're on a recipe, this should prevent the screen from auto-locking.
  • Perfect recipe+cooking app

Clean and simple design; easy to sort and organize recipes; easy to switch between directions and ingredients; effective import options for bringing in new recipes. Even more functionality that I haven’t tried yet, but given what I’ve used so far, I’d assume it’s great too. Everything I need from a recipe app!

  • Everything I’ve been Looking For

I’ve been wanting to digitize my families recipe books (which are more like multiple 6 inch binders), and this app has been the first one I’ve tried to actually have every feature I need. Easy to use and share, a reasonable price, plus the inclusion of grocery lists and meal plans. Super glad I gave this a try, and I’ll probably get some of my family members to get it as well. Thank you!
  • Impressed

I heard about this app on a Reddit post asking about the best cookbook apps. The developer recommended this one, while also admitting he’s the developer and his own bias. I’m honestly very impressed with the quality of the app. Definitely felt it was worth the $20 for lifetime premium.
