  • Great Puzzle

I do the daily Mini puzzle regularly and like that I can usually solve it in 2 to 12 minutes. I especially like that if I miss a day, I can earn back my streak.

Impressed that it accepts alternate solutions and has a large dictionary.

This is one of the few puzzles I try to do every day.

    Thanks!

  • Has some quirks, but I do love it

I have over 700 days playing this game so, obviously, I do enjoy it. However, there is a quirk I wish it would fix. When I have completed a word correctly, and am filling out other squares, I don’t think the program should allow a letter to be inputted in a section where the word is already the correct word. I find it frustrating to think I know the next word only to find that the program has stuck letters where I didn’t want it and now I have to go back and correct what it has done. That’s my major complaint. Otherwise, I do love it, and believe that paying to be able to play the extra games is worth it.

  • Great word game

Fun word game. Love keeping my streaks.

It'd be great to have an option to turn off some of the graphic effects though as sometimes it drains a lot of battery. Doing my three knot words for the day used 29% of my battery today, which seems excessive. Perhaps it is my iPhone X showing its age, but I really don't need to have fancy gfx in my word app all the time.

  • overengineered to be tricksy

They did some updates on freezing issues. it's still slow. it should be better than this *** Now it's crashing on iPadOS 17.3.1. IT'S STILL SLOW. WHAT ARE THE SLOW MENUS DOING - MINING BITCOIN IN THE BACKGROUND? WHY IS THE MENU INTERFACE STILL SO SLOW? What did you do, write it in Electron? the app is laggy and slow and freezes on an ipad air 3, especially the menus. it's a simple puzzle game. what is it doing? **** Dark mode at night is a joke. flash teal, then back to black? CHODE and REGES are in? AX and SEXY are disallowed? really? UPDATE 3: TRUES ? UPDATE 2: SOMEWHATS ? ISMS ? really? dictionary and plurals are broken. UPDATE: surprisingly, I've stuck with it, though the American language grates. Today, the daily classic and mini had FLIED and AMIDS as words. FLIED is, I think, some baseball specific term, but AMIDS? really? More attention needs to be paid to word choice, selecting from words common across multiple variants of English. Daily wordle player here. I tried to like this, got through the ten free puzzles easily sans hints, did a bunch of dailies. but this won't have staying power in its ever more convoluted puzzles. and the slow grid animation landscape behind the playing area makes me queasy. [option now added to disable it, but it defaults to on] Rather like Zach Gage's ReallyBadChess, this is smart, fairly polished ,well executed for what it is... but somehow empty and ultimately unfulfilling. Oh, and I have to subscribe to see previous puzzles I've completed? that's nickel and diming, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

  • My fave

Honestly love this game. I grew up enjoying scrabble and helping my granny with crossword puzzles, so this game feels like home.
I appreciate the free version has no ads.
  • Uninstall & reinstall if it won’t stop crashing

A few months ago, I left a three star review for this (excellent) game because it would constantly crash, often when I’d just completed a puzzle.

I finally uninstalled in frustration, but decided to try a clean install. That was at least a month ago & I haven’t had a crash since.

For the dev: the difference seems to be that I had a ton of games completed in the “archive” in my old install, and that history was lost when I uninstalled. My guess is that you’re iterating over the entire history to calculate the best times, etc. and with enough history you either time out or hit a memory limit. Pre-aggregating would likely help a lot here. I’d also suggest writing a test case with a few hundred history entries to see if you can reproduce the crashes. Thanks for a great game, btw.

  • Short sharp and shiny

The daily minis are a fresh take on crosswords. Great user interface too. Very intuitive
  • Love this game!

I love this game and have been playing it daily for basically two years now. If you like crosswords but struggle with the cryptic clues, check this game out! Basically, anything by Zach Gage is guaranteed to twist your expectations in a fun new way, and I eagerly await every release.

Also, the share function that creates a gif of my progress (or struggle) is hilarious and even better to share when it’s awful than when it’s great. 😅

I’ve got a couple of small quality of life improvements I’d like to see, but will still gladly play for years to come!
Loading puzzles seems to take a while, and randomly stall for a moment early in the first puzzle.
I’d like a way to migrate my progress to Knotwords+ so that I can get the hidden achievements without starting over
Some of the puzzle book categories get very repetitive, like the flower and clothing and transportation categories. However, I love the short words and vowel puzzles and wish there were more.
When browsing the archive, I’d love a button that takes you instantly to your newest incomplete puzzle, so I don’t have to scroll past 36 months of finished puzzles to find the next one.

  • Disappointing

Having been a subscriber for two years, have a 650+ day streak in all three daily games, I’m sad but I’ve had to cancel my subscription. It’s unplayable, actually painful to use now. The app randomly crashes, most annoyingly when saving a completed puzzle, which then needs to be completed a second time. I’ve had the same puzzle crash more than three times.

I tried filing a support request but it was ignored.

Crying shame as I actually really enjoyed this game.

  • Interface needs work

Why oh why do the letters fly all over the place when trying to enter letters in a straight line? Same thing when deleting. And on the larger puzzles moving the screen around when zoomed in would be easier if a long press allowed you to drag the screen. Surprisingly unrefined.
