Far less useful and consistent than it should be.
For the price I paid for this setup, this app should be better. I get very inconsistent alerts, the feeds are choppy, the notifications don’t refresh when a new alert comes in. Sometimes I lose the motion alert completely. There should be an alert snooze feature that’s easy to access. Ring has a much much better app with nicer user interface. While the images are sharp, they are not as wide angled as I am used to in home security systems.
I would give this a 5 if it had wider angles, and if the set up and feature instructions were more complete and clearer. Customer service was very helpful, but you do have to wait a few days so be patient.Show lessLeia L
Excellent and Secure app
This is a great app for defender security systems. It always alerts you in the zones marked for alarm, informs you of traffic in the alarm zone, and it even detects critters.
Best of all, you can always see what’s going on on your property from anywhere using authorized mobile devices like iPhone’s/iPad’s.
Finally, for the defender products with POE, you never have to climb ladders again to replace battery’s, you occasionally have to wipe the camera lenses to get rid of spider webs. Great product with great app.Show lessSulehK
Horrible App & Service - Cameras Do NOT Record Audio!
If you wanted a security camera to record video and audio this isn’t it. Why even make a security camera that doesn’t record audio? Useless app & cameras.Downloadapp

App could be so much better. It’s basic at best. No landscape mode on iPhone 14 Pro Max. Cannot use full screen on iPad Pro. Poor overall app UI. Cannot see or differentiate when motion or person detection has occurred on the timeline. App is just overall clunky. Disappointed that this app shuts down/times-out on devices. The company tech support says it’s designed to do this to prevent extensive data usage and screen burn. But this isn’t a necessary feature as today’s devices have Settings that can be set to automatically close the device after a period of time. Also, I have never had screen burn on my iPhone or iPads. Today’s devices do not do that like the old-timey electronics were susceptible to having happen.
Please update the app to have it stay on !
We use our iPhones and iPads as mobile monitors in our workshop and the app is useless to our needs if it shuts down by itself or requires being touched frequently to keep it “active”. We work with machines and have to focus on our work, but when our door alarm goes off, we need to be able to see who walked in. Only to find out that the app shut down and we cannot see who came in!! App works picture quality is horrible
Live picture quality is not even close to 4k in the app, I wouldn’t even say it’s 720. The pic in the app is very grainy with tons of shadowing. I set my sub stream to the highest quality and the images are still horrible .They app live stream leaves a lot to be desired. I upgraded from a 600TVL system that was 10 years old and it’s live stream wasn’t much worse than this. I have 2k wireless cameras that have incredible quality on their apps, defender really needs to update this app to fix the picture quality!Show lessMike 940
