  • Could be fun in the future, but needs work first

I like the original TerraGenesis quite a lot, but I’ll likely stop playing this game until it is a little more developed. The UI buttons on mobil are often too small to click correctly. It’s unclear from the research descriptions what the result of the research will be and how it will be helpful. My biggest issue is with the random negative events which need to be balanced much better. I have twice had random events happen to my command center in the first 10 minutes which made the city unplayable. There is a big difference between a challenging game and an arbitrarily unplayable one and Landfall hasn’t hit the right balance yet.

  • Another death?

So far the game is nicely put together. For anyone who enjoys the process and idea of colonizing another planet definitely give it a go!

My only gripe is concerning the Engineers. I assume that to be selected to go to another planet and be responsible for maintaining the population’s survival the individuals should have a bit more sense than to make choices that lead to their death. Every time there is any type of incident, an engineer, or in the case of a mining shuttle, FIVE, end up dead.

I’ve met a lot of engineers and aside from when they’re in school, they’re pretty incident averse; part of the whole “engineering” thing.

Could you either reduce how many engineers/scientists/workers are required for each thing or please give them more resilience?

I understand that being on Mars is going to be rife with risk, but seriously, launching a rocket every time somebody dies (which happens a lot), is ridiculously inefficient.

Other than that wee issue, top marks. Well done on another stellar product! (see what I did there? 😄😉).

  • There needs to be difficulty settings.

It’s fun, until it’s simply too stressful. There are too many calamities far too frequently for this to be fun, especially for a game that just launched and has no help section in game. To wit, my base is now doomed because as a beginner, i placed my landing pad beside the ore refinery. The refinery is broken, there is no repair module left, and I can’t build one at this stage. The landing pad is powerless, and I can’t reasonably expect the shipment to return safely once I finally do have the resources to buy a repair module because there is no landing bay working.

And can’t build a new one because I don't have the steel.

Too many calamities. Going to sleep it off and see if I can try again in the morning, but if you want a suggestion, difficulty settings.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your review! This game is a city-builder survival simulator, which is perhaps more like Frostpunk or Surviving Mars. It is not supposed to be very peaceful. But I will absolutely look at the balancing to see if there is anything I need to address. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
  • Don't play it's not worth your time

Play this game for better part of the day and I had to restart three times because every time you think you're getting somewhereA building breaks or another settlement steal something the only way you can play this game is if you pay I already wasted £10 on this game in the end I had to delete it because it will drain your money and doesn't end up being fun at all terrible game do not play !!!!

  • It seems good

I’ve played and likes their other game, simply named “Terragenesis,” so I might be biased, but I just finished the tutorial, and this seems fun, you do have a premium currency, and buildings do take time, but I can understand that, because they aren’t a big company and need money too, and it actually seems like a resource management game, that has interesting building and obtaining of resources, like how you need to make crops into food, or refine ore into different materials, and how you can set when your people will stop mining and such by setting a minimum amount of ore you want at any one time, which I like. I recommend trying and playing this game.

  • Good game

I really like this game. I get why there are random events, but it just doesn’t seem that realistic that the fatality rate is so high on a space station and things get stolen all the time. It’s a space station, where the thieves going to go? And why can they just steal so much stuff?
  • So promising but hard to figure out what to do

The game started with a tutorial that led you through some things step by step. From there you’re left to your own to build.. which I found really fun until the credits started drying up with no way to make more..

There needs to be some way, in game, that I can click on the credits and press a ? Or something that gives me clues on how I can make credits, or click on a product I want the factory to make and you can request more information on the infrastructure needed to make those items in your factory.

It’s just very hard to work out and unplayable after about 30mins. I can’t figure out how to play the game which is frustrating. There needs to be perpetual help not just a tutorial.

  • Awesome game

This looks like something a larger publisher might have created. BUT…this is an indie games company. The games looks great and has some nice touches, away form the standard grid square placement of buildings etc. only just started playing but first sight is great. And option to buy it would be nice without the micro transactions, but the games seems playable without purchases. Would love to see this on apple arcade.

  • Amazing

This game may be new, but it is absolutely wonderful. Although I wish we could have played through initial development, it was still fun to watch the progress and chat to other excited players through the discord.
  • Excellent Game, I’m already addicted

So. I’ve only been playing this game for about 20 minutes, and I already love it. It doesn’t force you to set a building in a specific spot on the map, and not only that you have a huge build area. Also, the cross connectors between buildings is massively important to me because I like variation. I won’t lie TerraGenesis was a difficult game to get a planet right. But this makes up for the challenging game you guys had before! Put me on the planet, and let me do it hands on, that’s what I love. And I will continue playing this game. TAKE MY MONEY!!!
