Potential, but not there yet

I was really excited about this app and do feel like I can see the vision, but it feels like there are some core features that are missing that should have been part of the first iteration. Like others have mentioned, there’s no way to build daily routines into the task list or sync with your calendar, so it just creates another place to look and requires time every day to go in and build out the list. Also, I love the idea of the focus tracker, but there’s no notification or reminder to complete it and you can’t complete it for previous days.

I would also love to see integration with other apps as the app matures:
-Importing tasks from Apple Reminders (where my partner or Siri will add things to a shared list for me when I remember them while busy) or Outlook (where my work tasks live)
-Integration with Apple Health to pull sleep/water/medication/exercise data that are already tracked and then used to compare with focus tracking trends

Overall, I do think there’s a lot of potential for this app to be very helpful, but until it can be more of a comprehensive way to track things, it will likely be an app that I remember to use periodically.

Thank YOU! We’re so glad you are enjoying FocusGenie :)

if you have adhd, get this app!!!

As an adult with adhd, initiating tasks has been one of the biggest hurdles for me. I downloaded the app and was able to set the timer to very low time intervals that got me out of a serious rut and task paralysis I have been dealing with. For example, I set it to 4 minutes of studying and 2 minutes of rest because it’s such a small task that my brain goes “okay, I can do this.” Then I started increasing the time to get more done. Thank you for this app Dr. Hamdani, and for understanding people with adhd.

Hello - we’re so sorry we haven’t gotten back to you! Please send any inquiries to contact@thefocusgenie.com and we will be sure to assist you!

Good start

Nice graphics and good start. However, frequently freezes, no way to include daily routine on to-do list, and overly simple. Not a game changer. Hoping for additional capabilities.

Response from developer

Hi AnonMouse99, thanks so much for the feedback and for digging the graphics! If you deal with any freezing, make sure to log out of the app and log back in (as this was an isolated issue prior to a previous update). We have a lot more planned for upcoming releases. You can follow @thefocusgenie on Instagram for the most up to date release information.

Love the concept

I love the concept, but I wish the trial period was more than 3 days, or that a free version could be supported by apps. I use so many apps to help me manage day to day life that it really adds up when they all start requiring subscriptions.

All hype, no delivery

Before creating a negative review, I tried to reach the app creators multiple times and multiple ways but have not received a response. First, it’s not a 3 day free trial, as I was charged early on the third day. Second, it’s impossible to figure out the point of the app. It seems to primarily be a poorly functioning to do list. The rest is fluff. The journal prompts seem random. Body doubling to a video on my phone is less appealing than jumping on a free Discord body doubling server.

There has been so much hype surrounding this app. The face of it is a telegenic, media savvy psychiatrist, so publicity has been great. But to me it’s all style and no substance. I’m exhausted from people trying to monetize my ADHD.

Download this app if you have ADHD

The lessons are helpful and I love that they link to research publications.
The to do list is awesome.
The timer is clutch to not getting caught in the time blindness hyperfocus trap.
I often forget to use the focus tracking, but the trends from the times I remember are helpful.
I love this app!

Just needs to fix bugs

Love using the app, just don’t know when I’m able to some days because there have been plenty of bugs. When it works? Amazing.
