No regrets and worth the money

I’ve been feeling growing concern around climate change and a problem with the landfills filling up. I believe that if more people were conscious of their waste and take steps to attempt to reduce it, our earth could be a better place for future generations. I hope that services like Ridwell continue to provide transparency and grow in their capacity to serve more areas so other communities can be involved with more thoughtfully disposing of their waste.

Best thing since sliced bread

I first heard of Ridwell when I was visiting my brother in Portland and asked about the cute white and red box outside his front door. When he explained what they did with was on board, but I just had to wait a couple of years before they started in the Bay Area. I have it for a few months now and love it! I try not to purchase things in plastic but it is nearly impossible these days and it makes me feel so much better that they are able to take it and give it to organizations that will be able to reuse/recycle it.

The other items they can also take such as batteries and lightbulbs are also really helpful.

I’m so grateful of this company and what they are doing!

Grateful for Ridwell

As I am enjoying my much less cluttered home, I have Ridwell to thank. The Service who’s smooth handling process started my recycling desires of reusing materials. If they can, they do and that works! I think going further in so many more areas will be a rewarding accomplishment. I do wish there was a more personal level of communications. Also that the Featured category was more opened and varied. Again, I appreciate your service and vision.

Ineffective customer support

Love the concept, love that they work with local partnerships, love being able to do better with what is leaving my home.

Dislike that pickups have been missed, dislike that they will not prorate skipping a week (like when I’m out of town), dislike that the way they have dealt with mistakes is to offer “beyond the bin credit” which I don’t need to use.

REALLY dislike that despite my emailing their help line each time, and their reassurances that things will change, today my bin lid was left open again after pickup. This is the 4th time. This has in the past led to all manner of water, detritus and critters getting into the bin, and moldy wet bags, depending on the weather. Two weeks in a row now this has happened. Sometimes it’s the little things that make you wonder how good the company is at the big things.

Love Ridwell!

Love, Love, Love Ridwell! When I first learned about Ridwell, boy was I shocked about how much stuff that we put into our waste management recycle bins, that DOES NOT GET RECYCLED, it goes into our landfills ! It makes me feel so good to be able to keep most of what I use on a daily basis out of our landfills. And it’s a lot! The fact that they also work with your particular county’s community/charitable organizations is an added bonus. Keep up the good work, Ridwell!

Amazing service, so easy

I had been meaning to sign up for Ridwell for a while and I’ve been thrilled with entire experience. The app makes everything so easy to figure out - what’s accepted, when they pickup, account changes.

This saves me hours of trying to figure out which organizations take the various recyclables. Not to mention the drive time I’m saving now that someone comes straight to my door.

I love seeing how many pounds of waste I’ve saved from the landfill and keep sharing this service with everyone I know.

No pickup twice in a row; notified saying they did

Review update: Ridwell failed to pick up twice in a row now, which is a month. I basically paid my monthly fee for them to do absolutely nothing. This most recent failure, they sent me a text that they picked up when they actually didn’t. Did they think I wouldn’t notice that they lied? lol. I responded to their text saying there was no pickup and asked them to clarify their text. No response. I kept waiting and no one ever came to pick up. I sent an email and am pending a response. If I don’t receive a reasonable explanation for this absolutely terrible and unreliable service, I’m cancelling cause why would I keep paying them for a service that they are not providing? Huge disappointment in Ridwell and how they have treated me.

I’m so impressed!

Ridwell has come up with a model for reducing, reusing, recycling that is genius and I only wish I had started up with them a long time ago.
Our household tries in many ways to reduce, reuse, and find options for recycling items that inevitably make it into our lives. I have spent many hours trying to find ways to recycle the items that don’t go into a curbside bin only to hit dead ends on some things and the other things that I found could be recycled I have spent a lot of time and fuel on the road to get them to a place that will and can take them.

Ridwell has a network of many different companies and groups that DO accept hard to recycle things like plastic caps and bread tabs, alkaline batteries and styrofoam! And so much more.

Ridwell has a really great, user friendly, app that explains where each type of item ends up going. It also explains when my pick ups are and any pertinent information for “featured items “ (another thing I love).

Ridwell has attention to detail. Their small brochure tells me it is printed with vegetable ink 100% post consumer paper, letting me know I can safely compost it.

We are very grateful you are there to help us to fulfill our responsibility for the bits and pieces of wasteful packaging we end up with, even though we try to practice sustainable purchasing.
The onus of responsibility, for all the unnecessary waste, truly is the corporate manufactures and their care-thee-not attitude and the Plastics and Packaging lobbyists.

Unhappy Service Resolved For Now

I have only used Ridwell about 3 months and so far they have not picked up as scheduled 2 times. So here I sit with all this stuff and the reply is “so sorry, unhappily no one can pick up Until Your next scheduled day”, which is 2 weeks away. I was offered a $4 credit as I will have “excess” in my next pick up. I asked for a credit equal to 1/2 my monthly fee as they did not pick up 1/2 of my stuff. So what is the problem? I have no answers but am quite unhappy with the service.
UPDATE: I canceled my account with Ridwell, but did receive a message that a supervisor had been notified of my complaint. I wrote back that I would reinstate my account if someone came to pick up my stuff. That supervisor personally came to my home and retrieved the items that were missed earlier that day. I was told the driver was elderly and sometimes got confused with addresses. I did reactivate my account, I have empathy for the driver, however the issue has to be fixed going forward as this is a paid for service and I expect service to be performed. I also noted that one more miss will result in permanent cancelation if my account. But the supervisor took control and performed above expectation.
