Very frustrating due to poor coding of the app.

Just downloaded this app. It took almost an hour with “Caravan and Motorhome Club Helpdesk support” to get this app working. Part of the process was to delete and re-install the app. Finally got it working, but with a default password which the support team gave me. But it did work! Only thing left to do now was to reset my password to something unique. I did my password reset, and I was back to square one! But at least I knew what to do this time (I had quit helpdesk support by now). So I deleted the app again, re-instated, and logged in using my new password. All is working fine again. IT Support Team you need to fix this! I suspect whenever anyone changes their password they will experience the same problems. To be specific about what this problem is, when I clicked the Digital Membership Card on the bottom right hand side of the app it didn’t show me my membership card, but told me to “Renew my Membership”. Please fix it.

Absolutely Useless.

This needs to go back to the beginning and start again from scratch. How on earth was this released at all? All the issues have been listed by others so I won’t repeat them, but here is one of mine. You have to give the d.o.b of all adults (why?!?!), but ok let’s do that thing. Oh… you cannot enter a d.o.b, Instead a calendar appears. My wife is in her sixties. To enter the date I have to do the back button on the calendar one month at a time! That is over 700 clicks. Make an error and you have to start again. For ***** sake who wrote this? Have our fees paid someone? I give up……

I have had a response from the “developer”. Explaining that the need to capture our d.o.b. Really? How about a simple drop down menu with age groups. Not really the point anyway. Everything else ignored. I cancelled membership after that ridiculous programme which made all caravaners look like fools. I am pretty close again. This club treats its members with real disrespect.

Hi Bedevalley thank you for your review. In order to provide the appropriate price for each stay we ask to capture the date of birth for each guest. We are reviewing this process in order to simplify it for members.

Absolutely useless app

The app is awful. Yes you can search by map or site name but the area search does not always work. It brings up random places. If your chosen site is booked it tries to offer nearby sites - more than often somewhere in Europe!!. The app constantly logs you out. It’s the most clunky frustrating app and no amount of instructional videos will help as it’s not fit for purpose. Yes we have booked sites in there but it’s such a lengthy process I have never complained about an app before but this one and the website booking process is truly awful. Late availability search was so useful. Please add this on ASAP
CAMC replied to my comment to say that I could check late availability and advised me to put in the location and dates I wanted. It just displayed all the campsites in that area of which most were not available for my dates. I wish CAMC would just accept the app is just not working in the way they say it is and quickly work on suitable upgrades. It’s better to accept its failure rather than assume the end user is not using it correctly.

Hello BertEbb, thank you for your review. The new system allows you to view late availability in both a list and on a map. Simply enter a location, the dates which you’re interested in press search.. Additionally in the future we are considering reintroducing the previous 'Late Availability' calendar which you may have been familiar with.

First time app reviewer. 0 stars is required

Never have I felt the need to review an app nor have I ever considered reviewing an app. This app is an absolute joke, it must be the most awkward, notchy, long winded and confusing app I have ever used. We are members and renewed last month, now it’s saying where not members. Tried booking today, after 30 mins of crashes and freeze page situations I find availability when I wanted, great I think, so I try to book, crashed, back to beginning, the dates I wanted not available no longer. Clicked off the date and back on and now it’s available. Try to book with debit card, crash!! Start again, now the date I wanted is now full but does not say full. My mrs looks on her phone, 20 mins later she finds it, and available again, so we book, won’t accept our membership log in details, pay the extra amount just due to sheer frustration as by now we have been an hour trying to book. I can honestly say if you took my blood pressure after using this app it would be raised. It’s like and April fools app that’s set out to fool you and annoy you. I will give this app one more chance in a few months, if nothings changed their is no way I’ll be using it and going through that process to book. Sort it for your own sakes!!

Not a patch on the old system

Late availability search is completely useless. The old version was easy to use and you could see all available sites across the country. New version shows sites in alphabetical order, when you then click on a site in the list you find it isn’t even available on the dates that you required. I’ve emailed the CAMC about this problem.
Also be careful when booking as there seems to be a glitch on the payment page. People are unticking the box that allows CAMC to take full payment from their account prior to arrival at the site but as the page refreshes it is automatically re ticking the box and people are having money taken out of their account unexpectedly. I’m not going to renew my membership.

A massive backwards step

The old app was okay, at least it worked. You could check availability and prices easily, even if it was a little clunky. I had my list of favourite sites, now I have nothing. We thought that being a member meant we could change our plans, now a deposit is needed. There seems little point in being a member anymore, particularly as the prices have gone up so much. The FB comments on the new system seem to echo the disappointment of many people.

Update 3rd Nov 2022

All the generic replies about updates, the version log suggests differently, considering how poor the app is. Things may have changed, but I am no longer making bookings.

In addition it now says I need to renew my membership, where my membership card should be. So what was the direct debit payment you took from me in August?

This debacle has certainly opened our eyes, instead of just searching and booking Club sites, we are now looking forward to trying other independent sites.

I do feel sorry for CL sites, according to comments on the Facebook page, their bookings have reduced, we will attempt to support them instead of main club sites ….. Assuming of course I can prove I am a member, at your request, I changed to an electronic version of the card.

Totally unusable App

This has to be one of the worst Apps ever! Not usable on an iPhone. When trying to use the map to locate sites you have to zoom in to look at areas where there is more than one site, whilst doing that the screen locks. When you finally try to view a site you see basic details, no prices. Once on a site there is no way of going back to view other sites without starting again. When you find a site you can’t even click on a contact number to call as the App shows an error that you’re not connected to the internet!! This is an absolutely retrograde step from the previous Site App. What’s the point of showing club sites are full when you might be looking for dates in the future that are not. The App really hasn’t been thought through from a user experience perspective for the purpose of trying to find sites to book as a basic requirement. Hate to think what CAMC have paid for developers to produce this.

Disappointing new app

I wanted to look at availability this weekend so thought I’d try the new app. I spent ages trying to find out where I type in the area I want to visit and then realised I have to look on the map. I’d rather have the facility to search by name as we used to be able to. Then a lot were showing as full but what dates are they full on ? Is it just today or some other arbitrary date ? It would be good if we could put the dates in that we are looking for earlier in the process.
Update - the app developer replied to me to let me know that I can search for an area and add dates - by clicking the UK Sites Tab - so that makes it better. The only thing I’m now missing is being able to add a mileage range from the place I’ve entered.

Looking at the map you will see a tab for 'UK Sites' at the top left corner, click on this tab and you will be able to add dates or search for a specific location/campsite. So clunky!

Sort it out - tried booking a second site - didn’t carry my rig information forward and was unable to fill in details ————/——-Ok here’s some more helpful feedback - I am able to book sites, however …1. Too much of the map is obscured by click boxes especially when a site is selected Not sure POIs are a useful option ………..2. Site are often shown on the map as ‘full’ but zoom in and the price comes up(really don’t need the price information on the map) It would be helpful to show if site is closed …….3 If grass pitches are not available (because weather) don’t offer that option on the booking page. …….4 Put the site name on list of ‘My Bookings’ ……….5 payment due date (for me) is showing 7 July 2025 ….

Grim!!

What an awfully clunky slow and unintuitive app!! Nevertheless a great bedfellow for the glacially slow CAMC server. It’s taken days for this app to actually recognise that we are members and display our membership cards. I had to revert to using the website to make some bookings, but even that has been “hobbled” after the new booking system rollout. When in the app and viewing future bookings you can only see WHERE you’re going by navigating further into the view menu, and stumbling across (eventually) that the central 1cm (about 12% of the screen height) is actually scrollable and contains more relevant information. Clearly this offering has been cobbled together by someone on a youth opportunity scheme, and whoever “signed off” on it in East Grinstead is actively considering how he or she can explain the waste of members subscriptions, and the length of time involved to roll it out!!
