App and tablet are fairly useless

Not sure why this company can’t figure out to make a useful app that can run the sauna remotely. The videos explaining how to “update time manually” to “fix” the issue no longer works and tells me that no thought was put into actually fixing the app but Sunlighten still likes to flaunt the “app”.
Pretty useless for such an expensive piece of equipment. I hope I don’t start to have issues with the actual sauna because getting actual help is a nightmare.

App tablet and support

Wow, this is pretty pathetic. I’m struggling with the tablet shutting off all the time as well as chromo lights just flicker red. I called for support and had to buy new lights and they sent a backup cable for the tablet with no instructions. Not to mention a $31 shipping fee for products to fix THEIR design flaws.

I decided to sit in my sauna today to see if it could stay on long enough to at least get semi warm and started reading the reviews to see this is a widespread issue.

Sunlighten, when you say an update is coming this summer, what year? The reviews don’t say. Is that an upgrade to the tablet, app or both? Count me in!!!!

Also interesting to see developers mainly replay to the five star reviews.

Is Sunlighten a viable long term business? If so, put some of your profit margins into technology. This is a little ridiculous.

ABSOLUTE TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

I was so looking forward to owning one of these saunas and wanted to love it so badly but after struggling with it for few years now I hate it. I am absolutely totally disappointed in this purchase and wish that I had never made it in the first place. The tablet (user interface) and app are absolute garbage. And now I have begun having problems with the heating elements so even the hardware is proving unreliable in the long term. I wish there was a central website that we could list all of our problems so that future buyers could beware. i’m especially disgusted with Dave Asprey because my Sauna purchase began with his high recommendation. I have come to realize that he must be getting something for his referrals. I hope this review helps anybody considering future purchase as I wish that I had seen all of these negative reviews before I bought mine. I would like to list in detail the issues with the tablet and user interface and app and hardware, but this review is already too long and it would take me several pages to list all of the issues that I have with this Sauna.

Good to have the App, BUT unstable

It is good to have an app, but I find that it is erratic connecting to the Sauna. I am within range, and sometimes standing next to the Sauna. Everything is on and working well incl WiFi.
Often I set a timer for the sauna and I find it to work <50%. The sauna is on and active. The app doesn’t connect with the Sauna.
I hope the next update will fix the connection issues.

Is there a trick to it?

Love my sauna but the technology is very antiquated. I have asked for a more updated tablet to no avail. The app always tells me my sauna is offline?! Totally defeats the purpose of the app if I have to go wake up the tablet in order to control it remotely. While customer service has been very kind, nothing has been done to better the experience. Please replace the tablets and make the app able to connect remotely. Please please please

Great sauna, terrible app and tablet

They obviously installed the cheapest possible tablet they could find the program on the tablet, constantly restarts so you lose connectivity via the app. I have asked if there is a tablet upgrade and there is not. I am willing to pay for a higher end faster tablet to improve the experience but no such luck figuring out the scheduling app takes a PhD in computer science thank God, I’m highly technical, but that’s only when the app can stay connectedto the sauna, please hire a real tech team

None of the issues in the review

No problem staying connected to the sauna. Did put another router upstairs closer to the sauna. Had a question about the lights and they called me back in just a couple hours on a Saturday!

I would give it 0 if I could

I click get started and it won't let me enter information to create a log in. It just tells me they can't find the details. It has a separate 'already a member' log in. Totally useless app.

entirely useless app

First let me start by saying that I’m only writing this review because the app itself doesn’t have a feature for reporting bugs etc. There is a “Submit a Support Request” button, however all that does is lead to a website that automatically reloads to the main Sunlighten website for my country. When I’m already in your app - I’d like to be able to just fill out a field and press send. You already know who it is coming from as I have to be logged in to use the app.

The issues I have. I am sitting in my sauna, which is connected to the internet via wifi. My phone is on the same wifi network. I have my account logged in within the Sauna and within the Sunlighten app on my phone. Under My Sauna in the app, Current Sauna always displays as red. I’ve tried quitting the app, turning the sauna off and on again, all that stuff, still red. No clue why.

I think, I’ll see if I can add a program to my schedule. Let’s see, 1h preheat, set, ok. Under My Sauna, Today’s Schedule, the program is there, good. I go to the Schedule tab at the bottom, click today’s date, “You have no programs scheduled for today”. Really? Two tabs seem to disagree.

There’s another frustration I have about the way the Sauna makes it difficult to know what time it is going to start. When adding something to the schedule, and setting max preheat time of 60min, on the calendar page where you select the Starting Time, which defaults to an hour from now, one would assume if I selected “Starting Time” one hour from now, having set preheat to one hour, that the sauna would start preheating right away and be ready in an hour. But no, the Starting Time is the preheat starting time - which I don’t care about. I don’t care to know when it starts preheating, all I care is when I can go in for my session. When the saved session displays, it shows a time range that displays the start and end times - but not of my session - just of the preheat start to sauna end. Again, please make this more logical. Maybe don’t even display the time the preheat starts, just make it happen.

Also, this might be controversial - but with all the gadgetry in the sauna, and fluctuating temperatures at different times of day, the preheat time needs to be adjusted. Obviously. But are you telling me my sauna is dumber than my rice cooker, which can intelligently preheat my rice to be ready at a certain time? Can’t you do the same with the sauna? Eg I want to start a session at midday, let the sauna decide when to start preheating to bring it up to full temperature…..

Worst App & Tech EVER

Our sauna is awesome but the app and accompanying tablet are absolute GARBAGE. Literally the worst app and tablet experience I’ve ever encountered in all areas of technology. My biggest regret is going with an MPulse sauna that has the jankiest tablet (and app) because the tech is in perpetual limp mode. Sunlighten is impossible to connect with and when you do, they say they’re sending a replacement but they never do. The next step is the Better Business Bureau because this company is not living up to their end of a $9,000 deal 3 months in. I could not be less impressed with this company. The “scheduling” feature on the app is a joke as it doesn’t work, even if you’re sitting in your sauna, not to mention on the way home or something. I wish I’d known about the poor technology and customer service of this company because I would’ve definitely made a different choice in selecting a sauna.
