After taking a quick level test, the app suggested me the reading materials to my level. The texts are engaging and I want to move on to the next level soon! Great idea. Great app, but way too expensive. After your initial 3-day trial you’re required to subscribe and given two options to pay: $19.99/month (first month is $14.99) or $239.88 a year! (first year is $167.99). That’s more than membership to TTMIK’s website!! I would be willing to pay $4.99/month at most for this service. $2.99/month would be more appropriate. I guess they figure people will read all the stories and then cancel? If that’s the case, how about offering a lifetime membership? $24.99 one-time fee would be good.Show lessCptFeeny

This app is exactly what I was looking for to improve listening and reading…. BUT I won’t be subscribing unless the price comes way down. I don’t even spend this much for Netflix! I’ve been a Premium subscriber to TTMIK for a long time. I agree with another reviewer that there should be a heavily discounted option for people already committed to a Premium subscription. I’m so stoked TTMIK has a story app! I’ve tried using other apps and honestly anything TTMIK does I just love so I’m glad this is in option.
1)BUT I agree with the other review-I wish there was a way to at least select other words for vocab rather than just the bold. I noticed needing to know a few not-bold words but I was unable to save them.
2) I wish grammar would also be included
3) English translations maybe as the final final step, just so I can check my comprehension. I know I can do this w the quiz but I like to make sure I’m totally understanding it.Show lessseaweedsur

I’ve been learning Korean with TTMIK since April and it’s been great. One of the most important factors is that TTMIK website offers an amazing value: hundreds of lessons, high-quality content, really low price.
This app offers hundreds of texts to read, all of the texts are voiced over by Korean native speakers, the quality is truly amazing. After each segment of a text, you’ll have to complete a quick comprehension quiz. You can also learn important vocabulary while reading and then refresh newly-learned words in a separate section. I’ve found it to be a lot more effective and fun than vocabulary flash cards.
The issue with this app is that it is really expensive. In the US, a yearly subscription is $170 when on sale, and it adds up to TTMIK Premium subscription. If you really think about it, there’s no point to buy a yearly subscription—especially if you’re an advanced learner. You can literally get two months for about $40 and read all the texts in the app in that time. Also, while other apps for language learning offer at least seven days to try out their premium features, this app offers only three days.
If you’re a beginner, it can be really hard to use this app without TTMIK Premium because the grammar you encounter in texts is the grammar you are supposed to have learned via TTMIK. That’s why you’ll probably have to get both subscriptions, which is really expensive.

This will be a 5-star app soon, I think. The content is absolutely perfect. It’s interesting and challenging without being disheartening, and fills a real void missing for Korean graded readers. The audiobook quality is top notch, with voices that bring the stories to life. It’s definitely more interesting/engaging than most reading materials for beginners. I like that there are percentages/certificates that act like achievements, so it also has that fun ~app~ vibe without being too gamified. The focus is definitely on learning.
So far, I really only have three complaints:
1. I like the bolded word feature, but there were other words I didn’t know and it would be nice if I could copy those into Naver dictionary
2. I wish the flash cards had some kind of spaced repetition system. 3 times is, in my opinion, not enough to memorize, especially with context provided (which really does make memorization easier! Mad kudos)
3. As others have mentioned, the price. There’s a lot of content for sure, but only so much someone could reasonably do a day. It’s a very pricy subscription and I’m not sure I’ll be able to subscribe on top of my TTMIK web subscription.
I’m glad there’s a trial so I can think about this some more, but I do wish it were a little less expensive. I’m very willing to pay for a good service, but I think a lot of us are on tight budgets these days.

I see a lot of potential for this app and the main features are there!
But the app is still in its infancy and needs a lot of refinement. The user experience needs a lot of refining. Just one small example... the reading test in the beginning has no progress bar so I have no idea how long it'll take me since there's no expected finish time.
Love the fact that the voices are not AI (or at least they don't sounds like it)
Love the stacked books layout for navigation! Very original and shows your progress at one glance.
Not a fan of the directions layer pages. No the most intuitive thing as you have to press the skip button on the bottom.
Anyways.. i could go on and on. If I were to guess y'all are using a web designer to do mobile UI/UX design and I think these little details lower the user's psyche over time!
But the concept itself is super useful :)

I have been a TTMIK subscriber since 2020. I found out about this app through YouTube this morning and downloaded it. I was excited to see how it would supplement my learning. The stories are challenging. I agree with Mgwy review. I found the same issue with the review quiz. After being notified that I had one more word, it just kept getting stuck on that word. I would have to exit the app and then come back to it. The price is a bit much I think.Show lessChaBooChan
