Features removed/poor performance

Unless a feature is broken and causing harm to the app as a whole, why would you remove it with an update? Yes I mean the search function. Because of that, there’s now this giant collection of game guides which are now inaccessible through the app. Also taken away with the recent UI update is the share button. No more sharing links of articles and whatnot.

Regarding the app’s performance, I realize I’m on an iPhone 8+, but I don’t believe choppy framerates should be as plentiful as they are when all I’m doing is scrolling. These phones can play 3D games and then scrolling through articles is taxing? Hurry up and get this app optimized.

Needs some improvement

As much as i love this app a few things that would be greatly appreciated. 1) Allow me to be able to see the articles I have saved without having to sign in into a account 2) since I have a account allow me to get a recovery for forgotten password (yes I have already tired the present one) 3) after reading any article please don’t bring me back to the top of the feed, but leave me exactly where I was at. I know it seems picky but the app is great but these minor set backs will help IGN be one of my main sources for information

Update is terrible

The new update is disappointing for several reasons:
- if you’re reading an article and hit back, it resets you all the way to the top of the list of stories
- no search ability!
- no scores for reviews
- iPad app does not change to landscape view when the iPad is rotated

New App Is Useless

This used to be a useful app to find video game reviews and news until the latest major update. I have used this app for years and this latest update takes away pretty much all of my use cases. It is now no longer possible to filter reviews by type. I am only interested in video game reviews but am now forced to scroll through movies, tv shows, and comic reviews. In addition upon reaching the bottom of a fairly short list the reviews end instead of loading more content. It is also now no longer possible to search for specific games to see a review of an older title. These changes make the app effectively useless and a much worse experience than just using the website.

New update has made app nearly useless

I don’t typically write reviews, especially bad ones, but the IGN app has went from great to useless. Previously I used the IGN app almost daily to look up game guides or specific game news (and more), which I always searched for on the app using the “search” feature. The latest update stripped the app down to nothing but a “News” page, a “Video” page, and a “Profile” page (if you create an account).
The news and video pages can only be scrolled through and refined to basic categories like “games” and “TV.” The search feature has been completely removed. Not only is there no way to search for news or information on a specific topic, there’s also no way to search for a specific article I read a few days ago, other than endlessly scrolling.
Articles can still be added to favorites and viewed from the profile page, but I don’t want to favorite every article I read just for the small chance I might want to reference it later - I want to be able to search for it if I need to.
I genuinely hope IGN listens to their users and releases an update soon that brings back the search feature. Search options are such a basic and necessary feature for any news-type app, and IGN’s app is quite a downgrade without it.

No Search?

Where did the search function go? Why on earth would it go? Who let it go? They should be let go

This app is now utterly useless

Useless update

What a useless update to app. I’ve been using this for years and now you’ve made it pretty much worthless. You ha e removed the search function, you have removed the wiki guides and walkthrough guides for games. Now all I can do is scroll through 100,000 reviews of games without being to search a specific title. What was once a great app and also my go to for wiki guides, reviews and walkthroughs is now resigned consigned to bin with the occasional look to see if you’ve added these features back again.

If I forced to use the website for wikis, specific searches and walkthroughs then I’ll just choose another site.

Useless app on my iPhone 8

I don’t know if it’s just with older phones like mine, but this app is utterly pointless now, which is a shame because I like IGN’s content.

Scrolling for more than a few entries starts to slow the phone down and the phone gets hot, and if I go in to read a story, when I press back I am taken back to the very top of the list of news stories and then have to scroll down to where I was again, rather than remembering where I was in the list.

Update removes all useful features

I had some "checklist" wiki pages bookmarked and used the app to use them, but this update removes bookmarks and even searches, replacing them with a generic video browser reminiscent of walled garden apps for children circa 2012. Even the settings page is broken, after you disable autoplay how do you make the settings page disappear? Where's the close button? Eventually I figured out after force quitting and relaunching that it saved my settings. Version 6 is dreadful.

Looks nice but performance/functionality is poor

I’ve been following IGN for well over a decade at this point but its so sad to see they still cannot produce a good app experience.

1. Navigation is clunky. Effectively you have just 2-3 endless scroll news feeds which are a pain to filter.
2. Video playback hardly works. Rotating into full screen stutters and clunks like an app made in 2009. Playback controls are dreadful.
3. Finding content is impossible. Go try and find a video review for a specific game. Unless it was published in the last hour, good luck finding it! In fact, I couldn’t even find the video review for a game, despite being on the written review of THAT game. Absolute madness.

At this point, just give me an app that looks and functions the exact same as the website and be done with it. These ‘apps’ are a deterrent from the great content you produce.
