  • Stop Taking Away My Bluetooth!!!

Sometimes we just want lyrics and that doesn’t require your app to override my Bluetooth to listen to my external phone speakers in order to figure out what song I’m listening too. So if you could give us the option to toggle between typing in our music selection or having your app listen in to what songs are floating around, that would be sublime. Seriously... I listen to gangsta rap at work and if I want lyrics without sharing my music with my quiet office, I should be allowed to!!!! Frustrating.

  • UI update!!!!!

    Hi SoundHound Team,

The UI needs and update, the orange and brown esthetic is ugly, and your music player should be more basic, just have it as a bar along the bottom of the screen. You definitely have the most powerful music recognition app but now it’s time to bring it into 2019.

Also try simplifying the app overall.

  • HIJACKS my TIDAL STREAM

Why did I just delete this App after using it for 10 years??

Started using this app when it was free. It was such a clean interface with no advertisements, unlike Sh.....m which had too many ads to be useful. I even paid ($9.95, I think, twice because of an iTunes/Apple ID screwup). During the last 2 years, SoundHound has deteriorated to the point I am about to uninstall it.

I like Pre-Listening, because quite often (like during TV shows - E.G., “The Imposters,” there is only 15-20 seconds of music before the song is gone. I love building my Discoveries List from anywhere I hear music I might want to purchase (or now, stream from TIDAL.

My current issue is that when streaming TIDAL to any of my Yamaha AV Receivers (mainly the RX-A3080) using Apple’s AirPlay, when I launch SoundHound, it immediately STOPS my stream and begins playing on my iPhone. If I launch SoundHound while streaming from TIDAL, it is because I want to check lyrics — and that is all. To stop my listening experience and shunt the sound back to my iPhone is UNACCEPTABLE.

I will now start a search to find something which works like SoundHound used to work - for the user, NOT for the bean-counters!

  • Used to be great but now Shazam

I loved this so much I bought it but now it has become second to Shazam. Consistently doesn’t recognize songs when Shazam gets it the very first time. No matter how many times you repeat the search, it consistently fails when Shazam gets it.
  • Gone downhill

I have been using this app since it was first released back in the day. I liked this over all other app because it was clean UI, fast load, fast music detection and no nonsense app. However, recently with every update it has gone sluggish and doesn’t even detect any music. I tried this app 5 times yesterday on a Billy Joel’s song (She’s Always A Woman) and all 5 times it failed to detect the song. Siri (Shaham) detected it within few seconds.

  • Better than Shazam, no contest

No clue why Shazam is so popular. Sound hound is better by far. UI is better, detection is better, etc.

Not sure if the infinite app is still $2.99, but if it still is then it’s an absolute steal. Shazam requires an expensive subscription, this app is a single payment and it’s absurdly underpriced for some reason.

  • 👎No longer works.

Been using SoundHound for YEARS! The fact that SoundHound could identify lesser known music like obscure Jazz standards and contemporary BlueGrass made it a standout app. Enjoyed it so much I bought the Infinity version 6-7 years ago. Used it to identify hundreds of songs in that time.

But now SoundHound no longer works. Wasn’t working with iOS 10, so I finally up updated my 6S to iOS 12, but still doesn’t work. Just says “No Music Heard.” Decided to double check to see if it was a hardware problem and downloaded Shazam and tested them side by side and NOPE, it’s not a hardware issue, Shazam identified 10 out of 10 songs, SoundHound just says “No Music Heard.”

  • I agree with Donald-t

The old gray mare just ain’t what she used to be.
This app used to deploy instantly and now even with new equipment it’s like waiting for a snail to cross the road.
A small snail and if your not sitting on top of a cell tower delivering LTE you are simply wasting your efforts by the time it deploys and stops telling you your not connected to the internet the song is gone. While using it in the wilds of the northwest where my carriers signal is still not the best it used to pull an I.D. Of something but no more I guess all developers think you have a cable connection in cell phone land and have started building for stay at home users. And the success rate has disappeared to next to nothing and it used to identify the most obscure music you could find. I have heard there are other music identification apps out there and I think I’m going to see what they are like. After many years of great music identified found and corralled with Soundhounds help I have reached the end of my patience to many backwards function losing updates and to many you are not connected to the internet messages I am gone now how do I take my history with me?

  • This app rocks!

They keep finding ways to make this app better. The app uploads the sound bite while it's listening. In about 20 seconds, I have the song title, artist, album, etc. SoundHound usually finds the information. And lyrics are usually provided for pop songs.
  • What happened to landscape mode?

UPDATE (November 20, 2018): What happened to landscape mode? I don’t like using Soundhound in portrait mode at all. Especially on an iPad. Please put the feature back. I’m docking the app 1 star but will dock more if landscape mode but will consider docking more if the doesn’t rotate at a later date.

(Old Review) I was hesitant at updating to the current version with all the negative reviews but I backed up my iPad 2 (iOS 5.1.1) and also kept a copy of the SoundHound version 5.0 app stored as a backup and updated the app.

I can say, with a pleasure, that it still recognizes songs that are popular and those are less. There are songs that are not going to be recognized because they are not yet added to SoundHound's database. You can submit those to the support team. It's not a 100% guarantee that you're going to find out a song that's obscure.
