Very good, room for improvement

Very nice so far. I hope you plan to evolve it. Some suggestions: 1) Make multiple sorts available w/o going to preferences. After selecting a file ("Books"), get a screen that lets you select the first sort column ("Authors", "Genre", etc.). This might even be the first N lines of your current list instead of a dedicated screen. Besides being generally nice organizationally, this would help with long field values keeping you from seeing the other data, as with the band, "The Presidents of the United States of America". 2) Hierarchies. Rather than seeing ALL my albums sorted by artist (for example), I want just a list of artists, where I can then click one to get the album names. The next level would not include the data from that column. 3) Marketing: Your app is better than some dedicated Book and CD library apps. You should add some text to your description to cover these usages and get more search hits. ("book", "CD", "library", "collections", collectors", etc.) 4) Some of the settings could be per-file. That's a long list, but the app IS well done and I'm glad I bought it.

Great App

This is one of the handiest apps I have on my iPhone. (and I have a lot of apps!) It loaded my collection list amazingly fast and allows me to search for or find individual records in seconds. Being able to group my collection alphabetically and jump to any letter instantly is fantastic! My only recommedation is to allow for reverse sorts on fields. My collection is also numbered sequentially and getting to the end of the sorted-by-number list, where the new additions are, takes a lot of scrolling. Other than that, this app is perfect and is a must-have!

Useful, well-designed and very well documented CSV viewer

I wanted to be able to take my references with me when in libraries or second hand bookshops so that I knew what I had already and didn't buy duplicates! I would have loved to have had an automatically sync'd database on the iPhone, but that's not possible yet (Sep '08). This app provides a very easy and straightforward solution: export the data, import it onto the iPhone and then read it. It is a snapshot of the data, but it means I've got access to my data on the go very easily. And it's easy to update. It was easy to dump out data from my bibliographic database into a comma-separated text file. It was a little less easy to get the file into CSV Touch. This was not a problem with the application, but with my use of it. The accessible help files made me realise my error very quickly and showed me how to do what I needed step-by-step. When I had a question, the developer responded very quickly and gave a helpful (and friendly) response. Updating the data is simple from within the app. One reviewer has mentioned things he'd like the app to do. I think that would take a lot of development work. This app seems solid after a few week's use: it does what it says elegantly and flexibly.

Fatal flaw: no ~ (tilde) key on keyboard!

This application looks great, except that I can't get any of my files into my iPhone. All the web pages I can upload files to have a tilde in the URL; this character is not supported on the keyboard, and so I cannot access get my files off the web! Also, it would be fantastic if this application would be able to access files uploaded in different ways onto the iPhone, such as via email or by applications such as Air Sharing.

Great!!

Had a little database that I used for a .net search app. I wanted this app local so I wouldn't have to turn on the computer just to find one record. This app does just that and it's easy to update the Csv file.

Excellent!

Easy to use, prompt support & improving with each update. Saving one last star for a future update to polish the graphics.

Excellent

Works perfectly. I loaded my entire DVD collection and had no problems at all with 1800 records, 15 fields each. I use DVDProfiler on my PC to cataloging DVDs with the CSVExport plugin, and the export worked perfectly. Ozymandias' web site offers a lot of help, and if that isn't enough, email customer service was very fast and professional (I hadn't completely read how to import via MobileMe iDisk). Would highly recommend to anyone who can use it, and the price of $1.99 is very reasonable. Thanks for making this, it has saved me a whole bunch of time.

CSV is great!

Cool way of adding a list of information. I have about 6 lists on the iPhone and it's works great! Would like to have ability to add/edit data on the iPhone but I haven't found anything that does this yet. Thanks for a great little app at a very good price!

Useful but needs improvement

I was delighted when this app showed up as it is and will be very useful. It is also very frustrating to use as it is a real pain to upload files initially and try as I might, I got error after error when importing perfectly good csv or txt files. Then once they're readable it would be nice to be able to rename them ... But there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.

It would also be useful to be able to edit data on the iphone, then sync it with the original on my iDisk, or on my Mac, but again that doesn't seem to be possible (1Password does this very well and completely painlessly in the blink of an eye so it must be possible).

The bottom line: This is a good idea that needs some work to make it universally useful.

Have data, will travel

Ever since I've owned an iPhone, it's frustrated me that I couldn't see my data in a useable format on the device. Now I can! Love the way you can keep it up-to-date, via an FTP site or a Mobile Me public folder
