Good but...

A good app all in all. The free one is virtually unusable due to the ever present ads. But the upgrade to full is worth it. No NZ products, but once you've used it for a few shops you build up a database of items and it's fairly quick to make a list, especially if you scan items as you chuck the packet or can out.

The interface is a little cluttered and the widgets to add / remove quantities of existing items are too small so you often drill into an item when you just want to add it to the list. However, there is a lot of information too display so this is probably a hard issue to solve.

A link to the supermarket product databases to get prices etc. would make this app truly brilliant.

Really useful app but you do need to have the patience!

This app is Ravin' American and half the brands are unknown but that said, stick with it and use the editing functions, persevere and add your own UK products, edit the existing products and start to build store specific lists and you'll soon see it works really well. On our first shop we scanned every product we could as that automatically adds the product to the master database easily and quickly. However beware. It will not scan own brand goods and only recognises international brands but there was over 70% of our weekly shop in Tescos that it did recognise so that was really helpful.
All in all I am sticking with this app as it is the best of the ones I've tried and coupled with the support on the website, actually does much more than just make shopping lists.
NOTE TO DEVELOPER: could you build into the next upgrade the facility to strike through or cross off the purchased items as this is much more satisfying than ticking a box and many of the other apps on the market seem to offer this. It would be quite useful. Thanks.

Not great in NZ

A little overwhelming in NZ, too much work to add products etc and the product database it ships with is too specific so you have to sift through so many irrelevant products

Great app!

I love this app! It saves time and with my wife and I using it both religiously we are rarely out of things. The online function and immediate updates on the go make it ideal for homemakers.
Only negative point: poor barcode support for products in New Zealand.

Talk about gouging for iPad version

This is quite a good little app but I think the developers are gouging for all they can get by developing a separate app for the iPad that you have to fork over the full purchase price (again) rather than making one version that runs on both the iPhone and iPad. As for the app itself, I've had it for a week and am pretty happy with it. The allocation of items to shops is a bit clumsy as it's easy to add an item and not allocate it to a store. It would be better if after you set up a store and tick 'this store sells everything' that subsequent new items be automatically included as sold by the store (and then require removal if the store doesn't sell it). More integration with recipe and meal planning apps would be good too - but understandably difficult since it requires cooperation with other developers. Even better would be for this app to be enhanced to include recipe and meal planning capability.

Poor support in NZ

My wife and myself bought this app thinking it would make shopping easier. Unfortunately the support for barcodes and database items in New Zealand is not supported. This results in a half hour shopping trip turn into a hour and a half as you enter the items details. The creators could improve the apps use over here by teaming up with the supermarket chains and having their items with up to date prices available for selection.

If you live elsewhere in the world then this app might be for you.

Fantastic

This is one of the best apps I've bought and worth every cent. It's much more appealing for families as I think the share functionality is so useful.
Could do with more barcode support here (Australia), but if you spend a bit of time labelling & matching barcodes manually at the start it becomes a breeze to use. So great to just barcode when you've run out of something than add it to the list and hope hubby gets it right!
I will recommend.

Don't be put off by reports of crashes

It would be a shame if potential users are put off by the reports of crashes - while there is a problem with the update, I have been using the previous version of this app for months with it working flawlessly. It is my lifeline to a succesful shopping trip - but it is also great to use as a list for which scripts I need from the doc and which scripts need filling. So handy.

And the guys/girls are working hard to fix the problem - with good communication to me - I reckon the mark of good support is what people do when there is a problem - these guys are right onto it, they send me friendly emails, and remember that their updates have to thru Apples app approval system - that delays the release of fixes.

So grab this app - you won't be sorry

Flixshop

Really nice wee program! flexible and easy to use - customise it as much as you want! love it

Adequate until 3.0

I've been using this for a few months and it had performed adequately ... until the latest update. Since the update the app no longer runs. It starts "migrating images" and then crashes, leaving me back at the springboard. It's completely useless now. Have been trying to visit the developers website all day and it is not responding. I've lost larger amounts of money before but still not happy about throwing away NZD$10.
