No Dark Mode
Blinding white app on a dark phone. 😣
Cool but is it dead
I loved checking in before but then Facebook did check in’s and well you get to see cool places and it’s a bit like yelp Facebook Twitter and well I wish it would all just combine
Save yourself a lot of time and stress and do not use this when you got to Japan
Used it 4 times in Japan then deleted it. The information on Foursquare was incomplete or incorrect. It displays restaurant names in Japanese cymbals so we got lost every time we tripped to use it. It also says certain restaurants close 30’mins after they actually close. Foursquare caused us loads of stress and wasted our time away.

Response from developer
Hi there, please reach out to us on support@foursquare.com and we will be able to further assist you.
Can’t add tips?
Recently updated & now can’t provide tips? When it goes to adding comments the app crashed. Disappointed, please fix.
Fully Broken
This app doesn’t even get as far as an account login/sign up. It’s immediately “oops something went wrong” followed by a blank screen with a loading animation that never goes away.
I submitted a bug report but the process to do so was so cumbersome and unclear, I’m not sure if my bug report was even captured. This problem persists through using WiFi and cellular data and after re-installing the app from scratch.
I’m a software engineer and this is pretty terrible guys. I was ready to replace Yelp with this because I’m simply tired of Yelp, but that’s not possible if the extent of your app’s functionality is an error message and a blank loading screen.

That did not work
I downloaded the program three times with the same results. The program starts and then a popup appears stating “Oops something went wrong” then a red circle starts rotating. The last time I tried to run the program when red circle started I placed the phone down on the table and checked it after one hour still circling then at two then three hours with the same thing going on. I then checked before going to bed still circling, got up in the morning and closed and removed the program as a lost cause. I’m now going to try something else to use with my Garmin RV780 for our travels.

A must have
Excellent app for people who are fussy and always on the move you can find any type of cuisine around the world and see what experience others have had before spending your hard earned money !!!
A shadow of former glory...
Up until about a week ago I always considered Foursquare a more functional & aesthetically pleasing alternative to Yelp, however, that ship has sailed with the removal of the “Expertise” system.
Removal of the “Expertise” system did a handful of really detrimental things: removing the ability to easily know if a user was reliable, removing a great organizational system for your tips, & removing a fun sense of progression. This update really killed Foursquare for me, & that’s with it already lingering behind Yelp in terms of users & current data.
TLDR: Foursquare lost a lot of functionality in a recent update. It’s not worthwhile & you should focus your energy & time on Yelp.

Used to be good
Used to prefer this over the Yelp app, but it’s now fallen behind. The core design is still nice, but new venues show up on Yelp much sooner than they do in Foursquare (if at all). To make matters worse, the app has been throwing errors for some time when trying to add a venue manually, or edit a venue to make suggestions (such as when a venue has closed permanently, to add hours, a location, etc).
These errors were reported to the Foursquare team almost five months ago and have still not been addressed. It really does feel like Foursquare’s pivot has left the original app on life support.

All the tips are not visible!
I even sent an email to your support a very detailed description of the problem with screenshots but still no fix yet:
On the tips tab, when I click "All Tips", not all of the tips are visible but just exactly 20 of them. for example there are 500 tips for a restaurant, but the app shows me only 20 of them. But interestingly when I click one of the tags, e. g. "hamburger" which is let's say 150 times repeated among the tips all 150 of them are shown. And when I write a review for that venue then all of the 500 reviews become suddenly all visible to me. So unless I write a review for a venue I can only see first 20 the reviews even if it has hundreds of reviews.
I have this issue with foursquare from the very start please fix this.
update march 19: still no fix.
