Great, but limited in certain ways
Love the content, Japanese learning programs, shows, news. I really wish there was a way to save, subscribe, and go to our favorite shows.
It’s difficult to find and remember each show we like, making it a hassle and annoyance to continue watching.
I also wish there was less voice-overs and they are sometimes difficult to understand, and even difficult because of how corny it is to listen to. This would also help with the large population of people that watch NHK (folks learning Japanese).Show lessChristian2004thing
Used to be better…
I used to watch NHK on my Apple TV all the time. Recently I re-download the app and realized most channels are now streamed in English or any other language besides Japanese. Originally I downloaded the app to improve my Japanese and I wish they would bring back the ability to watch in full Japanese again.Show lessSupa Puppy

I’ve had this app for over 5 years now. I watch around 3 shows weekly. I couldn’t be happier with it. A multifaceted experience of Japanese culture, in English (spoken and subtitles). Some of the most informative and thoughtful programming anywhere. The on-demand program list is regularly updated. My preferred shows are Design Talks Plus, Japanology Plus, 72 Hours, Cycling Around Japan and Hometown Stories. My absolute favorite is Somewhere Street. The player is simple but always reliable. It includes skip forward and back and screen-in-screen. Please continue this high quality and valuable service! The inspiration and insight it provides is deeply appreciated.Show lessD Fuss
No Japanese language setting

One of the relaxing yet captivating broadcast.
Their dedicated app makes it easy to watch so much of their content without ads. For me this channel is a quick daily visit to Japan.

No longer watchable on old iPads
I watch nhk daily. I am very disappointed that I can no longer watch it on my old iPad. I get the “update” notification, but cannot update to new version. So frustrating, as I love many nhk programmes esp the documentaries and newsThuston san

A mixed bag
I was glad to find this app on the iTunes App Store for both Apple TV & iPhone, but was a bit disappointed to discover that although the picture quality is significantly-better than it is provided by Spectrum cable on one of their channels, unfortunately the Apple TV app doesn’t support fast-forward or rewinding using the Apple TV remote (the pause, volume buttons and mute functions as expected).
Worse, exiting the program stream means the user has to start over from the beginning of the stream (it doesn’t remember where you exited the stream); this makes it impractical to use.
Out of curiosity, I downloaded the iPhone app, and although it supports Chromecast in app (& iPhone app allows fast-forwarding and rewinding), the video quality is significantly worse than when watching with the Apple TV app.
And although the iPhone iOS app supports Chromecast (which I have on my TV), surprisingly it doesn’t offer or support Airplay (which obviously is the preferred choice for Apple TV).
The NHK app strikes me as a good app, but as if the developers lost interest in Apple support, so they failed to add even basic features to make it useable.Show lessFeefer2
Amazing window to Japan!
This is an amazing app!! As a Japanese language learner, I spend hours looking at these resources. I especially like the program of news with easy stories. I learn a lot watching these and they’re very interesting because they discuss Japanese culture and events. I am working my way through the documentaries, which have all been excellent. I also downloaded the app to my Apple TV, and it works really well. Thank you for an amazing app!Show lessdrraghnall
Good content. Bad interface.
Great content available but the interface really lets it down.
Can’t fast forward or rewind on Apple TV. Can’t pause using controls on AirPods.
It would also really benefit from remembering which episodes of shows have been watched so you can easily find new content.Coins or Notes
