Unable to disable subtitles?
I have downloaded the app for my AppleTV and the live stream portion of the app has subtitles enabled by default. For the life of me, I haven’t found the setting to disable them.
That’s the only thing that prevents me from using the app regularly.Majb1963
NHK Has Wrecked a Good App
Update Sept 2022. App will no longer play any content, live or on demand. “Cannot access…blah blah blah”. Prior to the update mid Nov 2019, the Broadcast schedule for the day could easily be accessed, recent programs were a simple swipe away, as were all programs. There were collections of programs around topics, such as Green tea. Now, you can’t even tell what live program you are watching, let alone what comes on in the next few hours. Japanese Audio?!
How come the audios are not in Japanese? 😅😅😅
I downloaded this app to practice my JP listening but hey it doesn’t have JP audio 🤣🤣🤣mkyoro
Subtitles
Love this network however, after downloading it on my new Apple TV there is NO way to turn off the subtitles, which are annoying and lag like you wouldn't believe! I can appreciate the fact that subs are provided, but update the app on Apple TV please to allow your viewers the option to turn them off!Show lesswhat does this do

What a great news service and always has interesting specials to keep reminding you of how much variety there is in the world! I never paid my NHK fees while living in Japan (I accidentally answered the door once and my Japanese girlfriend told them I was a tourist lol), so this being a free service internationally is really a treat.Show lessrunnerrowe
No features
The only big complaint is that is missing many of the basic video app 101 functions: you can’t save or bookmark videos. You can’t make an account, so even if you could, say, make a playlist on your phone app it wouldn’t then be accessible in your AppleTV app. It’s just kind of as rudimentary a video app as one could possibly make. It plays videos, that’s it.

This app needs to be updated asap
Glitches: read more text box - don’t click it or you’ll be stuck there - no way to leave that box.
New Apple TV remote: cannot easily forward through the video being played like skipping half way… I figured I had to make a circular motion with the new remote around the outer circle to show the menu for skipping through the video.
These are very small bugs but have a huge impact on the amazing content on this app. Please fix!!! It’s ruining what could be an incredible experience 🙏Show lessModa17
Not enough Japanese host

Improve Stream Quality
The quality of the streams on the iPhone and Apple TV app are pretty lackluster compared to the 1080p links NHK provides. It would be a much better experience if we could pick the quality or have it automatically selected based on network speed.AnasElYousfi
