  • Text cut off with upgrade

Now they have this banner that appears on top of the flash card and it appears now some of the text is cut off the cards. Particularly letters that have long stokes like p, b, t etc. I'm using iPad Air iOS 10.3.1. Previous version was better. In response to your question - the English text is cut off on most cards.

Hello, you mean the stroke animation is blocked by the top navigation UI bar? We'll take a look and try to fix asap?
  • Getting better and better

With last update app got many new and awesome features. You can not only practice reading but also writing now! Also associating characters with pictures or story is really good idea and helps a lot. Only tiny detail - it would be great if writing practice would allow randomisation of characters - ATM you always start with A an and have to go through all characters to practice WO,N and likes.

That's a great idea about randomising the writing practice! If you are ready to move to next level try our new Kanji app.
  • Very helpful

Within about 2 hours cumulative time over 6 hours, I learnt to recognise basic hiragana characters (the 46 characters). Highly recommend if you have trouble remembering things in the short term as this app has excellent mnemonics, cheesy as they may be.
  • Amazing app, well worth the money.

Well, I downloaded the free version of this app after seeing it recommended on a website, and deciding to give it a try, as other Hiragana apps hadn't worked out for me. The free version was great and in a few minutes I had memorised the whole lite set. But then I wanted more. I thought the £4.99 price tag was high, but I'd paid it for other apps so I have it a go. And within the hour I had learned to read all 46 Hiragana characters. Good, but expensive. That was 4 stars. But this new update adds a cleaner GUI and some great new features, like writing practice and listening practice and words to learn. For £4.99 you can easily learn Hiragana completely and I will be purchasing the katakana version when I have mastered this.

  • Finally... I've learned Hiragana!

I have been trying to learn hiragana for twenty years and never retained more than a few symbols. After two weeks with this product, I know them all. This is because I am a visual learner and really click with the way this app presents the symbols as mnemonics: pictures I can remember. RA looks like a RAbbit, NU like chopsticks with NOOdle and so on. Brilliant!

  • Really helpful app that works!

If you're more of a visual learner then this will work wonders. I used this 2 years ago and I know all the hiragana still. Definitely worth the money, it's fun so it doesn't feel like you're studying :)
  • Amazing

The best app out there for learning Hiragana. After struggling to learn them for several weeks, I downloaded the app and was able to achieve 100% recognition after fifteen minutes! I'd give it six stars if I could.
  • Great for learning quickly

These apps are great for quick recognition of kana. Before this app I spent a while not really getting anywhere, quickly forgetting the hiragana I'd learnt, but these apps really made it stick in my mind quickly.

If I were to request a new feature it would be to include some other optional mnemonics and allow the user to select their favourite/most memorable, as some of the mnemonics in here make less sense than some I've seen else where (for example ni looking like a knee)

I would also like some more elaborate tests and perhaps a game, but this is a brilliant tool for quickly learning kana.

  • A MUST HAVE

This is fantastic, such easy and simple ways to remember the hiragana and it's all brilliantly explained to you! I think it's a must have if you're wanting to learn japanese, especially memorising the characters.
  • Amazing, fun app for visual learners

Hiragana was overwhelming to me as I first started to learn it. I had no idea how I'd keep the characters straight in a way that didn't involve boring, repetitive drills. Then came this app!

I'm amazed at how much I've learned in so little time. I can recognize characters after only a few short hours with these fun pictures. I must be a visual learner, because every time I read or spell hiragana, I picture the Joker, a narwhal, a magician, and so on (you'll see when you download the app! It's hilarious).

This app uses humor, mnemonics, and visual teaching to perfect effect. HIGHLY recommend, 5/5 stars.
