Description of Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second step of verification when you sign in. This means that in addition to your password, you'll also need to enter a code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone. The verification code can be generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone, even if you don't have a network or cellular connection. • Sync your Authenticator codes to your Google Account and across your devices. This way, you can always access them even if you lose your phone. • Set up your Authenticator accounts automatically with a QR code. This is quick and easy, and it helps to ensure that your codes are set up correctly. • Support for multiple accounts. You can use the Authenticator app to manage multiple accounts, so you don't have to switch between apps every time you need to sign in. • Support for time-based and counter-based code generation. You can choose the type of code generation that best suits your needs. • Transfer accounts between devices with a QR code. This is a convenient way to move your accounts to a new device. Reviews of Google Authenticator

  • Was great until it changed

I never write reviews on the app store. Ever. However this app almost completely screwed me over today. I’ve had this as my authenticator for years, everything was working fine. I never had any issues with it ever. That was until I had to log out of one of my accounts and log back in, that’s when I saw a message that said “we have changed” and I didn’t even have time to read the message, but next thing I know, I have no clue how to use the app and now I’m locked out of every single account I put under the app. This should not happen. Companies should not hold this power to randomly change everything out of nowhere and block you out of everything. This is not right, and this is a perfect example of it.
  • What a lifesaver! Everyone needs this!

Boy was I stunned when I learned that not everyone in the world uses an authenticator app. I use three! But my favorite by far has got to be Google Authenticator! This app has it all… Simply tap on the number that changes every 60 seconds for your particular site or service (that supports using this form of two factor authentication) and it copies it for you so that all you have to do is go to that login page, tap, wait a second for the paste option to pop up, and paste it in. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. As always, the great folks at Alphabet (parent company to Google) have made things as simple as possible, because they started off with the motto “do no harm“ and they live by those words to this very day. Thanks, everyone at Alphabet. I’ll never forget how hard you all worked to make our lives easier during lockdown and in the time we’ve been dealing with Covid since. 😘
  • Beware! Can and probably will lock you out of everything

I followed everything correctly and it still doesn’t work it locked me out of many things permanently there is no recover option and google is full of useless people who don’t help you with anything” go ask the community” is the answer or how about paying people a wage to actually fix problems people have. 5 stars is for how incompetent this app is beware following their instructions given will sometimes not transfer your info to a cloud backup making it so if you have a horrible incident happen. Like your home burning down and losing everything there is no way for you to recover your stuff from google authentication app great job! You have helped ruin my life even more
