  • Update the app ffs

Poor effort not updating the app during the ios13 beta period, which is a long as beta, come on guys.
    DOES NOT WORK WITH IOS13
  • Saved my life

Goodness me what is wrong with some people! Excellent bit of kit and free! My AV is hidden in a cupboard in my home cinema. The wireless controller works a treat. Denon kit is robus and excellent value. Thanks for sorting out a difficult solution
  • Not good enough

Apps not been updated for three years, this is unacceptable. Crashes when you open the app.
  • Doesn’t work

Good thing it’s free. Doesn’t even see my Amp, Says my IP is incorrect & I can’t be bothered resetting my phone or unplugging my Amp every time I want to use it. Really LAME
Only gets 1 star cause I have to
  • Terrible connectivity

May 2019 Update: The receiver does not keep the hard wire connection configured. This keeps you from using the app.

April 2019 Update: I have figured out what is causing so much difficulty with the app. When the receiver gets a firmware update (which I just got another one that was able to confirm this) it forgets the wired network connection. Further, it takes some effort to get it recognized again. The steps required are under network settings go to Information (unless Connection is actually available). After it completed the scan check to see if Connection (one menu back) option is now available. If not then scan again. When it is you go to the connection type and change to wired (my receiver wants to go to wireless by default). It may complain that the cable is not connected, just tell it to scan for the wired again until it finds it. When done, the app can actually work!

Used the star rating to 3 now. The fact that the receiver does not keep the configuration is a problem that should not exist.

When it works it is pretty good. The problem is that much of the time it does not connect to the receiver. It isn't consistent about it either.

What is also concerning is that Denon does not recognize past purchases and is building apps for new products while putting prior products at a lower priority. Denon, stop building different apps for different years of receivers and start using a common architecture and standard.

Update: several versions later and Denon still can't find its own receivers, the foundation of what the app should do. Even with a dedicated IP there is no success which tells me the receiver is likely the issue.

Update 20181225: I will never buy another Denon. The app is useless as it can never find the receiver. That is fine if you continue to use the old style of IR remote, but it is about to be 2019. If Denon was thinking that this was an obsolescence act, all it does is make me interested in the competition. My other receiver is a 2 year “older” unit who’s app works flawlessly.

  • App Crashing

App crashes on startup constantly. Needs to be updated.
  • Rubbish Denon

This app is utter junk for my AVR-X1000. It does not even work now. Going to recommend everyone I know against buying Denon. They obviously care very little about supporting their customers post sale. Shame on you Denon.
  • Fails to work

At first the app seemed to recognise my Denon Receiver but during an update on the receiver itself the app deleted my denon device name and it never reappeared. I tried deleting and reinstalling but to no avail. I can see why people rate this app so poorly. Going through the motions trying to get this app to work will drive you demented. Save your breath and stress levels by not working with this app. It’ll bring you nothing but misery.

  • Working well after f/w update

I had given up on this as app as it had never worked on my new iPad, it just would not connect to my AVR 2313. However, the AVR had a f/w update yesterday and now all is sweetness and light. I can use all functions and stream from my PC. Excellent!
  • Stopped working mysteriously

App worked fine before the latest update. Now, the app attempts to open, then force quits to the home screen of my up to day iPhone XS. Puzzlingly, the app shows as active as a background process, showing up as expected when app switching. When attempting to switch to it however, it will disappear.

Attempted an uninstall/reboot/reinstall and upon successfully opening the app, it won’t detect my networked and static IP’d receiver. Pitiful and sad.
Used to be mostly functional, if a little slow, but it’s 2019 now and customers EXPECT correctly implemented integration with their devices. There’s simply no excuse for this. That’s what you get with a third party dev, I suppose. Denon needs to step this app thing up as the world is moving quickly toward app integration rather than juggling remotes for functionality.
