Love this app
I love this app! It's feature to add your own names to your list is great and it had a wide range of diverse names . Not only does it give the origins and meanings but it also gives you every origin of each name so if it originated in several places it shows you what the name means from those regions. My favorite part of this app is the map while I'm in origins searching for names all I have to do is turn my phone sideways and a map pops up with the origins tagged on it accordingly . I rate this a four star only because like anything else I find a few errors in the map like Phoenician names are tagged in the map in Phoenix Arizona rotfl! It's actually a collection of city states at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, in what is now known as modern day lebanon. I'm not going to have a kid ANY time soon but I like to look into the future! Anyway this app is sooo beat! I LOVE IT! The only thing is I cant pronounce any of the names that I like and if I pronounce them wrong then it probably wit mean the same thing. I also cant search the names I already like because they are already in the app but i cant add then to favorites because I would have to find them. Tip: it would be totally helpful and cool if there would be a pronunciator in the app! Find a way to include it and do an upload. Would be so much more helpful.Show lessPurplemonster123

We are having some trouble narrowing a name down for our baby but this app is helping. I like that the popularity records go all the way back to the 1800s. A few of the names I've searched for weren't in the app, but being able to add in names I know from other sources makes this a great way to organize the options we like all in one place. Navigating the app is easy enough. The search engine is great; there are several ways of searching for names. I also like that I don't have to be connected to the Internet or be signed in for anything to use it. Overall a perfectly serviceable app for the task.Show lessBestpolicygirl
Forces review
I want to use the "genie" feature of the app, and the app won't let me until I have reviewed it. You'd think the app developers would know we would all complain about this and it would drop the otherwise high rating it would likely receive, but that's what they've decided to do.
This is the only baby name app I have tried, but I think I might go to the library or a bookstore for name help, as a book I saw yesterday looked much more organized for those of us who are struggling to find a name. As someone else said, you can't view related names, for example.
I do like that baby name popularity by year is easily viewable. I'm avoiding trendy names from the recent past.Show lessJudge373

This app is like a Google search for a name. It gives a lot of information. The part I found valuable was the various spellings. The downside is it doesn't tell you which version is original and which version the spelling was changed as it was translated to a different language. For instance, if you were looking an original bible name first written in Hebrew, you may pick a version spelled as it was in Greek not Hebrew as it was translate from Hebrew to Latin to Greek to English. Be careful. I have known a few people who say & think they have a name of a certain history and it turns out it is misspelled if that's history they were going for.Show lessGavriel70

Better then most
Like others I haven't fully used this app and I'm giving this rating to access the rest of the features. That being said, this baby name app is better then others I've tried. It has several features that I really like. I like that it tells me the meanings of the names. I also like that I can save a list of my favorites and rate them and whatnot. The only thing I wish it had was more of a name idea generator. But honestly I haven't found a baby name app that does that. I am secretly hoping that the 'Genie' function that we get for rating this app will possibly be something like this.Show lessPeriwinkle98
