Solid podcast player

Pocket Casts was one of the best podcast apps out there for many years. It still functions very well for power users as well as less frequent listeners. PC is among the best podcast catchers because it offers several logical organizational structures for staying on top of subscriptions. The first being the Home view with a grid of show art—this can be sorted by release date, or custom set by users, and setting podcasts into “folders” let you group by whatever criteria you like. Tapping a show icon brings you to the episode list. There are additionally filter views, in which users can view new releases by episode, view downloaded or partially listened to episodes, and filters can be added to include various shows by whatever topic or criteria users wish to help them dive into episodes (filters are especially useful to power users who may subscribe to hundreds of podcasts). Notifications can be set on a show by show basis. The subscriptions for this app are pricy, but the free version accomplishes most of what’s needed for a podcast player. Apple Podcasts now has full searchable live transcripts of all podcasts, basically the only thing missing from Pocket Casts.

The Podcast App Everyone Should Try

I switched from another app 3 weeks ago and have no regrets.

It allows you to customize everything from the podcasts screen to the buttons on the now-playing screen, from the theme to even the app icon (there are a bunch of different icons for free). It has a clean interface, is updated frequently, and takes feature requests via their forum. It supports episode artwork (not just artwork embedded in the audio file, which not all podcasts do, but other players are limited to), transcripts, and chapters. You can also add your own custom files (without one of the paid plans) to listen to in the app (audiobooks, etc.). There are even more cool features you can read about in the description and on their website.

Even if you already have a podcast player you use and like, I really encourage you to try Pocket Casts out.

Pod player

Can’t go wrong with this one😎

Favourite podcast app but new clip share feature sucks

Still my one and only podcast app but the clip share that came with v7.72 just sucks. Let me disable it. It adds an extra step to sharing podcasts with friends and is just annoying

Best podcast app that I used

Have tried may other app and still prefer pocket casts.

Great for listening to podcasts exactly how you want

Pocketcasts is always the app I recommend for podcasts because it is so full featured and customisable, so as to offer any user what they need. A standout for me is the syncing between apps and the web client.

They recently changed the name of my “Lifetime Membership” to “Pocketcasts Champion”. So I imagine they’re laying the groundwork to make me start paying.

Longtime User. Best App I Use.

I’ve been using this app for so many years. Hands down my favorite app on my phone. You owe it to yourself to give this app a try if you frequently listen to podcasts. It’s easy to use and the presentation of all its features is so well made. At the time of this review, my stats page on the app says that I have listened to 361 days and 16 hours of podcasting since downloading the app. And I don’t see myself stopping.

I think it’s worth mentioning that I originally bought this app when it was a one time purchase. When they transitioned to a new subscription model, I was very nervous that the developers would require a subscription from people like me, but they honored that purchase and continue to do so. That is the type of company worth supporting. The web app is also incredibly great and easy to use, I use it when gaming on my PC and it syncs up flawlessly with my phone app. I love this app and will continue using it every day like I have been for many years.

There's no better podcast app...I've tried them all

I'm one of those people that heavily researches before making a purchase - I'm driven by the fear of having buyers remorse. With that said, my research and testing let me to Pocket Casts. I've used it for years and it continues to be the best feature rich yet simple podcast player. Awesome.

Functional & intuitive

I’ve been using Pockets Casts for 5-6 years. Podcasts make up 80% of my listening throughout the day, so I tried so many different platforms when I switched from Apple Podcasts. To this day, Pocket Casts remains the best podcast app, hands down. The UI is intuitive, aesthetically pleasing & it feels as though it knows exactly what I want, and allows me to do it. Thanks PC team!

Reliable & Cross Platform

I tried many podcasts players, but this is the one that stuck. It looks good, plays and syncs reliably, gets updated frequently and works both on the Mac and iOS, while syncing play states. Great app.
