  • Optional $499 Hardware Not included.

Kind of useless without the optional hardware needed to use the app. Little misleading to say the least. You have to visit their site to buy the tools needed to make the app functional beyond the demo mode it's locked in.

Nice app, but a little expensive on the hardware side.

Here is a quote from the first line in iTunes. See Description Section: "ACCESSORY REQUIRED FOR FULL FUNCTIONALITY AND TO EXIT DEMO MODE". Caps were not added for this response. It's listed like that in the description. But you're right about one thing: a tool is required to transform your phone into a wi-fi spectrum analyzer.
  • Why a demo?

If I want an app, I want to use not see a picture of a demo.

    Developer Response

You're so close! Now you just need the WiPry 5x hardware. Unfortunately, your phone is not also a wifi spectrum analyzer. In order for that to happen, consider: Oscium's WiPry 5x.
  • DEMO ONLY

    Developer Response

The app requires hardware in order to operate, as is stated in the description. Would love to be able to give you the tools you need to solve all things wireless. But, alas, that requires hardware. Consider WiPry 5x. It unlocks all the awesome of this app.
  • Pretty useless

Pretty without some mythical hardware. On my MacBook WIFI Scanner is very useful and does not require extra hardware. What gives?

    Developer Response

For your iPhone to become a Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer, hardware is required and Oscium provides it. Some host devices will allow you to re-purpose your network card (to view limited things like SSID's, for example). But for your device, Oscium offers not just SSID visibility but the ability to visualize all wireless activity (including microwave ovens, cordless phones, ZigBee, etc). This tool is quite powerful but it does require hardware. And it's not mythical. It exists in time and space. Come into the light and you will see: WiPry 5x.
  • Demo only

Demo only. Not sure why it can't use the ipad's own antenna, like other similar apps.

    Developer Response

Good question. And the answer is: just because. What is even more awesome is that there is a way to transform your iPad into a full fledged Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer. Oscium uses an external network card (because that's the way of things) to gather SSID's. And we also capture all other transmissions as well (non-802.11). Non-802.11 transmissions wreak havoc on your Wi-Fi network. Take a wireless security camera, for example. It can obliterate your Wi-Fi and you'll never know it without a spectrum analyzer. But you are right: without WiPry 5x, it's not possible to do much. You can always try Apple's AirPort Utility. It's free and has some visibility. Otherwise, you'll need some kind of external hardware (like what we offer).
  • Great Product

Works great , I have the 2.4 and 5 version of the hardware that is required to be used with this app. I use it for both scanning Zigbee and WiFi freq.. I have used other products but I like this one best.

    Developer Response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! And thank you for the five star review.
  • Hardware

Where do you find the hardware, and how much does it cost?

I can't rate until I see it work, but it seems promising.

    Developer Response

All good questions. WiPry 5x can be purchased at oscium.com. It's $499.97 and there is no software licensing fee.
  • Only a demo... Cannot know if it's real

This is a demo only but only purely an illustration. In this form it measures nothing and doesn't show anything real world so I don't whether or not the thing works. Also, I have no intention of paying money to find out whether or not it's really functional.

    Developer Response

The app is only functional with hardware. And yes the hardware is only available for purchase. All RF transmissions in both 2.4 & 5 GHz is visible but again only with hardware. The free software is only to demonstrate how the tool would work in the real world.
  • Don't even know what this app is for..

I was looking for an app on my iPhone to show access points and such for my wifi router at home and tried this. Turns out it does nothing but a fake demo mode unless you buy or have some kind of accessory. Who knows what it is but it makes this app useless without it I guess.
  • Only Demo

Unless you pay and get extra part you got nothing. If you ready to pay there are much better tools.
