  • Perfect!

This game has beautiful and fun graphics, but might put off people who have to have color. The main tones in the whole game are black, grey, some white, and dark blue.
The goal is to get your little eyeball critter to the light using the landscape and little rope arms while collecting all the little star lights.
It might just be me (I think weird things are cute) but I find my little eyeball critter to be adorable, especially when it does its weird giggle or gets angry with me.
Another bonus is that the music is so relaxing and fun for me. However, I have been told that it is annoying to those who hear it but aren't playing the game.
This game is challenging but not too hard! So it won't make you rip out your hair.
For some people, the ipod or iphone will be too cramped to fully enjoy this game, but it is still amazing!
Overall, this app is worth the money and perfect for almost all ages I think.

  • Beautiful

Almost everything here is derivative (most notably Cut the Rope, but also some obvious influences from Limbo, World of Goo and Bumpy Road), but it's absolutely perfectly done.

Incredible aesthetics, a perfect soundtrack, and a spot on difficulty level makes this a pretty wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

  • AWSOME

This game is easily in the top 5 iPad games. The music is so relaxing, at times you get frustrated with it but the music calms you down. Lots of games seem to have "New levels coming soon", but they never appear, which doesn't surprise me as you have already paid. Today I checked my updates in the app store and 20 new levels for this were available so I felt compelled to write a review.

Have other games from Chillingo (Rinth Island & iBomber Defence) this is easily the best

  • Very Nice. YESSSSSS, an Update!

I like this a LOT for a few reasons. The graphics are cool, that's for sure. I really like this design style even though it's kind of a rip off of World of Goo. So far I have played through the first world and although the controls are not perfect, it's a great idea for a game. Very well done. The music score is also quite nice, very relaxing. I don't know why people say this game is depressing, I think it's cheerful (even though it's mostly dark colors). I would (and already have recommended this game to my friends). I don't know what it's like on the iphone but I can imagine it to be less fun that the ipad, just because of the screen.

    Edit: May 2nd 2012

I'm really happy there is an update for this game. It's been a long time coming. This is one of my favorite games on the ipad, it's really creative. I'll update again after I beat the new levels.

pros: original, fun, and challenging. a unique combination of spacial puzzle and movement coordination required. the physical model with aspects of gravity, inertia and elasticity are well done. I like the array of different gadgets and the teleports especially. the music is cool.
cons: I suppose it's hard to rank each level but once you master the bungies and cannons, the levels don't seem to get more difficult as you progress.
suggestion: having two or three 'eyes' to get through each level, where you can only attach one at a time to a bungie would make for an interesting puzzle enhancement. maybe also make use of gravity sensors on iPhone/iPod to create force to initiate movement.

  • I fell in love twice

First I played the game, & I immediately fell in love with the character, the music, the art, & the game play. It is surrealism at its best: absolutely touching, heart-breaking, beautifully loving, & tragically bittersweet- rolled into one package.

Then I watched the opening scene on my iPhone. & I found that the game was inspired by the Little Prince. I fell in love all over again. The Little Prince is a semi-philosophical children's book that is unparalleled in message and beauty. Quite like this game.

    Buy it; Now.

  • Funky

Refreshingly different. Can't wait for more levels. Make it harder!
  • Just brilliant

It's like everyone says, smooth graphics, excellent puzzles and great soundtrack. Rock on...
  • A touching game

Contre Jour is the kind of game, or app for that matter, that you want to have as a show-off piece when trying to convince someone to get one (or make them jealous of yours). It is the perfect marriage of intuitive touch mechanics, music, and puzzle design, not to mention a Noir-ish pallet and simplified art scheme that makes the game feel nostalgic while maintaining that wow discovery factor that some of us old timers may remember when playing Myst for the first time. A++++++! Thanks Chillingo.

  • Contre jour

Really like this game. Had it a day and find it really compelling and addictive. Initially easy to get 3 stars across each level on chapter 1. But by chapter 2, things are getting quite tough and can only get 1 or 2 stars. I don't like games that make you jump through too many hoops though as a casual fun experience starts to get frustrating. So my only criticism is that by Chapter 2 Level 4 the Teleporters have started to become frustrating and a bit unfair. Will persevere though as visually and sound wise it's a top little game with some craftily designed puzzles to get your head around.
