New printer setup a nightmare and can’t print two pages on one sheet

Just bought a new printer after my last one gave up after 10 years. The setup was not straightforward and felt like a very convoluted process. Once it was all done, I discovered that I could not print two pages of A4 from a PDF document on a single sheet as there was no layout change option through the app and I could no longer print directly from my IOS mobile like I did with my old printer. The virtual assistant suggested printing as photos, that didn’t seem to work after going through the hassle of saving the PDF pages as photos on my phone. When I tried to remove the printer from my HP account, it all went wrong. It’s a simple ask to be able to print a number of pages on a single piece of paper or print a document as a booklet, especially if I’m trying to be green and save paper instead of printing everything in the original size when I don’t need it. If I can’t do that, I will be returning the printer, cancelling my HP ink subscription for my old one and will buy from another company as this feels like an absolute joke. Calling at app Smart when it won’t give me any advanced printing options is a real stretch. Complete waste of time, money and patience at this point.

HP Smart app Makes a Difference!

The tasks that I can do at home now pretty much makes a difference in my sanity. I have so many documents and paperwork that need to be faxed, copied, scanned and communicated in general business procedures daily.

Before I retired I was allowed to stay after work and take care of a lot of these tasks with the full permission of my boss and company. They were very pleased with my job performance and were very glad to help me get some of these personal tasks out of the way without having to drive to town and Go to an office store to complete necessary personal business.
It was helpful beyond words, but once I retired, I still had the personal business to take care of and it wasn't so much a business but taking care of some very disabled and sick family members with all the paperwork involved dealing with hospitals and insurance companies etc.
When I spent hours in the office at home with simply a little HP printer/scanner, my computer and cell phone, I just do everything from home using the smart app. Otherwise I would be having to drive 20 minutes without a lot of traffic one way every day and with traffic you could almost double it plus the time and money in the store.
I just faxed six pages and a cover sheet to an insurance company a few minutes ago from my phone. I have so much to do and I just saved myself three hours easy by being able to do it here.
Obviously I'm a happy customer!

NEVER BUYING HP AGAIN

The new printer I bought 3 years ago was designed to be set up with their instant ink plan. Which was all fine and great for the first month. However as soon as I took my printer off a wired connection and moved it to wireless I never received another ink delivery. I called to remedy the situation and was told that the internet had to be hooked to it for them to diagnose whether new ink is needed. For 3 years I put up with buying my own ink and paper even though I had their combined plan. I lost my job so they received their last payment in January. I have bought ink 4 different times now thinking it was bad cartridges. When come to find out it was actually HP that put a hold on any printing abilities that might brand new basically printer was able to do. I contacted the Customer Support again only to find out that my printer will never work unless set up on their HP instant ink, but the instant ink won’t work unless it’s hardwired to the router and my router is in my kitchen when I tried to talk to customer service they Blue said there’s nothing they can do unless I hook back up with instant ink and the three years of buying ink even though they could see that I was paying for ink I wasn’t getting there’s nothing they could do about it. I will never buy another HP printer or computer, and would suggest the same to each and everyone of you

Scanning multiple documents

The previous system was better when scanning multiple documents because Auto Batch sometimes only wants to scan a small part of the page instead of the whole page which you could trim down if desired.
Otherwise I love your app it’s very useful and recommend it to others.

Why

Either the app is too stupid or I am, because I couldn’t figure out how to scan a document directly using the printer, so I tried the app. It tried to only print out an attached note, duh what? I put the whole document with the note attached because I want a copy of the note as I received it so I went back and moving the dots managed to include the a whole as I presented it to the scanner. It printed out a copy of the note and a copy of the note including the document as I wanted. The whole document as presented great… the copy of the color note attached as a separate document was a waste of ink and kinda an annoyance since, if I actually wanted a copy of the note by itself. I could have placed it on the glass by itself. If you insist on using the app alone to monitor which inks I’m actually using. Yes, I’m using HP inks… Then you could at least make the app allow simplicity without printing out whole pages of what I don’t need. After it printed out both I went back to figure out what happened. Saw that it showed two pages. Okay, now I now know why, but there was no way to select only the page I wanted, because it only gave me a choice of starting over or cancelling when I tried to select the unnecessary page to make it go away.

Don’t buy printer!

Don’t buy the printer because the software is terrible. Airprint (as advertised) dies not work natively on Apple - instead you need to send the documents to this HP Smart App, which needs you to keep the phone screen open whilst printer is printing. I sit here and watch my screen for long times whilst the printer foes it’s thing and wait for each page to print! Also same for Windows 10 and Windows 11 - bad software and drivers!!!

dreadful company

HP company is one of the worst I have ever encountered with respect to printers. I would never ever ever buy another HP and I would actively recommend against it to anybody who asked. The fact that they can stop me scanning and printing when I already own the ink when my credit card expired (the standard periodic update) is beyond belief. It took amount of time to establish What the problem was and if they determined to be so idiotically mean they should’ve made this process easy. Dreadful experience. this is made because there are a whole range of similar experiences and I’ve just given one example

Easiest and smartest way to print from all devices, even your mobile

This printer made our life easier. Easy to use, with an intuitive app. Couldn’t be more smart. Thanks

Nice

Very perfect home/ office printer I ever bought

Slow and noisy

Sounds like it’s grinding and takes forever to print
It ignores all my presets and sets it up all wrong
Every time
Wish it would print the actual documents I send and stop resetting my presets ….
I’m the editor…. Not you, printer

So not happy

Hate this printer ….
