  • Orphion is pure genius, Apple is a bully

From Discchord's website post entitled, "Eulogy For Cantor & Orphion":

"...Bastus are some pretty clever developers, and they have been pushing the envelope in terms of what we can do with our shiny iPads…. As with Orphion, when you're playing an instrument on a glass screen you need all the help you can get to make your play expressive…. Then out of the blue, and just after Apple started off their WWDC keynote sucking up to developers for a half-an-hour, they gave... Bastus the call. This casual reversal on what had already been approved will have a chilling effect on the developer community: Don't push the boundaries, or Apple can and will yank your income."

I'm keeping my version 1.5. Straighten up, Apple; the developers make your products stand out.

Haven't used this app? Buy it because it is the kind of music creation tool that will revolutionize your compositions.

  • Apple screwed it

It was one of the most cutting edge midi controller interfaces ever offered on an iPad.
Apple has forced it to be crippled somewhat with the latest release.
If you have it. Keep it the way it is. If you don't have it yet, it's. dry good but was better before apple forced the app to change.
  • New update

I won't be doing that. This is a great app and the new update is like a step backwards.
  • Beautiful Koto-like sounds

The variety of possible sounds makes this app sophisticated enough to be enjoyed by anyone. At the same time it's so easy to generate pleasing music, even my 9 month young daughter could play it and it kept her entertained for some time.
  • Shame On Apple

If the story is correct, Apple told this developer that he has to dumb down the technology in this app, after they approved his app about (7) or so times!? That is just asinine. This app is a truly wonderful music instrument because of its ability to express dynamics and pitch bending techniques. This developer has really pushed ahead and made something unique that I didn't know the iPad could even do. Why Apple, would you punish that? Apps like this are the reason that I bought an iPad for my music making. Punishing developers who help sell your product by offering something unique is not good business, and not advancing what your product is capable of. Apple, at the least, I think you should grandfather clause the capabilities of this app as you've already approved it as is. But, I REALLY think you should reconsider your decisions and tactics if you want to remain #1 in a few years. I have no affiliation, but I am a consumer who is looking for the best products/instruments. Dumbing down the iPad is illogical. I think you're giving away an unnecessary opening for companies like Samsung and Google.

  • Love this little touch music maker!

I absolutely LOVE this touch screen music app. I use it to make my own random sounds to find relaxation...my very own music. Please don't ever take it away! This is my favorite app on my iPad. It is so much fun to make my own unique sounds.

To the creator of ORPHION, I love you...and I told my hubby! You are the 2nd most loved person in my world!

  • Expressive

    Expressive and fun
  • Unique New Instrument

A unique and truly expressive instrument. If I had just one musical app on my iPad this would be it. The online layout sharing system is a joy, as Pavement once said 'the tones are grouped in clusters' and here one can instantly access dozens of wonderful clusters made by talented and inspired Orphion players the world over. Works fantastically as a MIDI controller too. For the price this is amazing value. Now, back to playing it :)

  • Smart, expressive and elegant

You will probably see the "expressive" description in most reviews of Orphion. That may be because it can seem like a rare quality in many pad-based interfaces. It brings a lot of what we love about instruments to a place where we love to work. The ability to create new workspaces in the editor really expands the toolset. You will approach things in different ways. You can rediscover your other instruments with MIDI.
