Incredibly Useless Customer Service

I have recently started selling on Depop and was having a great experience until I had the unfortunate problem of having to contact customer support. I wanted to change my shipping option from Depop shipping to start arranging my own, the problem was the other option had suddenly disappeared! I asked them why this was the case and they told me “Some users can only use Depop Shipping labels as their shipping method.” I asked if them how it is decided who gets the option to use their own arranged shipping or not? Do you have to meet a certain sale metric? Does it get taken away if you’ve previously proved you’re not getting orders out in a timely manner with their own arranged shipping? They responded with “As mentioned, we only offer Depop Shipping labels through USPS. Some users are only able to use Depop Shipping as their method of shipment.” So they didn’t answer my questions first of all. Second of all using your own arranged shipping is the ONLY way you can offer free shipping to your customers. Everyone would rather pay for an item and get free shipping that’s obvious. So they’ve taken that option for some shops and not for others by what? Complete chance? Then they refuse to elaborate on it? They’ve side stepped my questions if not flat out ignored them at times and been nothing but a complete pain to try to communicate with. Some of THE WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced so just hope you don’t have to deal with them!

EDIT: they updated the app and the notifications and offers and messages are all in one spot and I HATE it, it’s impossible to find messages because you get like 20 notifications a day just from receiving offers. Please change it back to SEPERATE TABS for messages, offers, and other notifications.

i have used depop for years and i love how it gives me so much access to a range of second hand clothing, and to new designers that make their own stuff. I like how they reinforce the “pay through the app” as it prevents scamming, and they have removed drop-shipping accounts. I’ve only had to open two disputes ever, one as a seller one as a buyer and both were sorted out with efficiency and were fair, which i’m very thankful of depop for. I also love how i can sell my own clothes. My biggest problem is that when i save an item that im thinking about purchasing, and then someone else buys it, it comes up as sold BUT the listings description itself has been removed so i can’t take key words from the description like the brand or anything from the original listing to search for something similar 🤦🏼‍♀️

From both a seller and a buyer

i hate the new update. the dms section is now the offer section. absolutely no way to find chats from my own buyers unless i go to the purchase and click to message from there. i no longer even use the dms section because it is overrun with offers. offers should stay separate and if you're gonna let sellers send offers automatically en masse, there should be a way to bulk decline offers. SELLERS! Stop using depop's default shipping option. it is WAY cheaper to go through pirateship or some other bulk shipping label processor. You can price shipping to the exact price for each. so buyers are willing to pay more for the item itself. stop undercutting your sales. theres very few items where depop shipping saves you any money. jeans and heavy items for example. Ive been using pirateship for years because as a seller and buyer $8 shipping on a lightweight item is ridiculous. shipping prices are insanity imo. I actually like depops decision to get rid of seller fees and pass it onto the buyer. Someone has to pay the fee unfortunately. but the prices, selection, and quality of items now seems to be a lot better. It attracts more sellers as they can make more and buyers have better options. I also like the offer option a lot. it def adds urgency to the buying process so stuff isnt just sitting in carts. I like that they've kept everything simple. in the wake of every app wanting to be tiktok, its nice that this app is still just a selling app.

This company has no loyalty to sellers

I have been on Depop for almost a decade now and have been a seller for about 5/6 years on Depop. I had almost 300 items sold and averaged a 5 star rating. My account was just banned due to hate speech. I posted a Washington Redskins shirt and they clarified it as hate speech. The hate speech I am referring to is the title “Washington Redskins”, yes you read that right. My so called hate speech was the name of a football team. My so called hate speech has 280+ active listings on Depop. Someone literally posted an item with the same keywords after my listing was taken down. I’ve sent multiple appeals and emails which never resolved my issue. They wouldn’t even hear me out and everytime I would talk to someone it would be a different person that had no idea of my situation. They constantly sent automated messages and never looked through my evidence. How would I know that that was hate speech when it’s been allowed 280+ times before and after my listing. To go as far as banning my account from one minor mistake after being on the platform for years is disheartening. They didn’t even give me a warning, they just closed my account. They have no loyalty to their sellers and have no support for their sellers. They have some of the worst customer service I have ever come across. It’s a shame because I really did enjoy my time on the app and the app in general. They have been banning honest sellers more frequently, please beware.

Account got suspended

The app itself is great however their customer support is the worst I have ever witnessed. After being an active seller for three years they took down many of my listings, all for very far fetched reasons before suspending my account. After sending my appeals the responses were all automated as they dismissed all the evidence that I had to say whatever reasons they had to suspend me was all a very inconvenient error. Now I’ve lost all the 200 active listings, five star reviews and 100 lovely customers without reason and only bots to appeal to.

UPDATE:
After writing this review, a developer reached out sending me a link to re-appeal the decision. Upon doing so, a new person took over my case and was able to remove the review. I am very appreciative and will continue to do business on Depop. I will keep my original comment down below in case anyone may find themselves in a similar situation.

I’ve been an active seller on Depop for about two years. For the most part I’ve had good experiences until recently. I sold a pair of shoes, advertised as a size 6 to a buyer. The buyer rated me a 1 star because the shoes were too big & she compared them to a European size despite me never listing them as so. She also made some petty comments confirming that she knew she was in the wrong. Regardless I reported this to Depop as this was a clear unfair review. The buyer also reached out to me ADMITTING it was her fault and she was not interested in a dispute because she “donated” the shoes. Depop told me they will not remove the review because the buyer is refusing to open a dispute. Despite all the evidence I submitted, I kept getting the same bot response. So for that reason I made the choice to leave depop and sell somewhere else. Absolutely ridiculous but whatever, Depop would rather lose $$$ than help their sellers.

Yall are dramatic

I saw a review about not liking the “offer” option since the buyer doesn’t have to buy the item after submitting an offer. As a seller and a buyer, this is such a great option. I am able to bargain with customers and if they choose to not buy the item oh well we move on and as a buyer i love it because it shows me how low someone is willing to go on an item, if someone has an over priced item (very common on this app) and won’t go lower with offers then im obviously not going to purchase it. If it bothers you so much maybe this isn’t the business for you cause that’s ridiculous.

As for my actual review of the app, I think the amount of fees is beyond ridiculous. It was nice when the fees were taken off of the seller but now as a buyer I have to pay a large amount of fees. Another thing is the shipping prices are way too high. I use the depop shipping which should honestly have more options or just lower prices as it is not that expensive to ship most items. Of course I could always make my own prices but I don’t quite understand that yet so for now i’m stuck with depops options. I have also had multiple encounters with people just not shipping my item. This should be something depop cracks down on, if an account has multiple reports of this behavior they should immediately be banned. Other than that it’s a good app.

i truly do love the app but quite frequently it will just stop working and won’t let me search for items, upload photos in listings, save/like listings etc. (and I know it’s not an issue with my wifi/service because it’s only depop that does this) every update I think it’ll fix the functionality but it never does ☹️

My Depop Experience

I found out about this app through an ad and downloaded it looking for more clothes to wear. At first, it was great and was easily one of my best apps. I bought mutiple pieces of clothes off this app and in which I was happy with. As time went on I saw scammers listing other people's clothes or it was a bot account with negative feedback. I started selling on the app myself and was starting to grow my account very quick. At month 7, I had 280+ sold and 75+ reviews positive reviews. I always had a problem with customer service like being call a racial slur and customer service doing nothing, people taking screenshots of my items listed and listing it on their account acting as if it was their item, and my biggest problem was when this month I got banned from depop for listing a "counterfeit" item. I got no warning when I could of just removed the item and never relisted it again. I had no idea it was a fake item and even applied for an appeal asking to be unbanned as I had no idea, the item was fake. Every time I asked for more info I asked what policy did I breach? In which they responded "One of our policies." I would reply to the email over and over asking for more info but they just shut me down and said," This will be our last email, as there is not much needed back and forth." Now I have a rack of clothing that still needs to be sold and I don't know what to do with it. Customer service is really rude and I'm disappointed with the app Depop. 👍

Holding my money

I have been using this app for a little over a month now, at first everything was great - I was getting paid fast - and it was good. Like a week after I got the app they falsely suspended my account for a couple of days and did not give me a reason - just that they had made a mistake. I had no way to communicate to anyone who had bought my items or get into my account until they finally unsuspended me. Anyways I have sold like almost $300 worth of items this month and was expecting my payout two weeks ago. Everyday it says it is due to arrive in my bank account the day after, then it keeps changing to the next day and pushing it back. I don’t understand why because it used to work just fine. I have submitted requests about this a couple of times but I just get the pre-made responses back. Today I went onto the app and it wouldn’t even load. I know it’s not my internet and it said “Something went wrong check your internet and if your still having problems contact us”. Well I try to contact depop and they don’t get back to me. I don’t know what to do at this point, They are holding $300 in my account that I can’t even get into and their customer service is not good so whenever ( if ever ) I get my money that they owe me I will be deleting this app because for me to have only had it for a month there sure are a ton of issues with it.
