So poor!

This is the worst of all online apps I use and has been for years.
Not just their online app but the bank website as well.
I think it’s time to explore other options.

Very simple

Love the simplicity and the apps ability to do most of the basic stuff other banks have. What this app really need to improve on the one thing that other review before me have been saying, which is an instant push notification feature from the app. We should get an alert on all activity we have in our bank accounts. I understand this can be done through “notification setting” on the webpage but, even then, I have not been able to get it to sms or email me anything. The web page froze every time I tried to make this particular change; when the page doesn’t freeze it doesn’t saved my changes instead. But either way, I am not talking sms or email notification, I would love an instant push notification from the app itself to alert me of all transaction in my account whether it’s payment made by my physical debit card or digital wallet or scheduled transfer or payment made online or direct debit or some unknown third party that are suspicious. I want to be able to keep track of all my out going and incoming. I understand it can’t be “instant” due to various factors, e.g. internet connection etc, but knowing where my money is at all time gives that piece of mine.

Needs to do more

Overall pretty happy with how the app works it’s a good simple layout and easy to use. However other banks have a lot more functions in their app, the one thing I’d really like to do is edit my payments and ongoing bpays. This is a function on the webpage so why not the app? I don’t like using the webpage I have trouble logging in every time I use it and I should be able to do everything in the app.

I’ve read a few of the latest reviews and they all seem to be saying the same thing works great but a bit basic. I’m not fussed on the push notifications thing so please make that something that can be turned off, I know when I spend money I don’t need to be told I have as well.

It’s ok but still needs some work

Very clean and straightforward app, for the most part does everything you need, however just some feedback…

You should be able to reorder your accounts on the accounts screen, I would like my main account to be at the top not at the bottom (Main account was opened last) and it would be nice to turn off the vault if that’s not a feature you want to use.

It needs push notifications from the App itself,
SMS notifications sometimes come through hours late and sometimes not at all especially when travelling so it would be nice to get these from the app itself.

The app itself is cropped badly on iPhone with the camera notch up top in the way and cuts off some of the app, Hard to close the side menu as the X button is sitting up with the battery icon. The swipe home button on the bottom interferes with the app buttons on the bottom, The accounts/pay/cards buttons needs to sit a little higher. It doesn’t feel very polished and reading other reviews seems to be a common complaint, other apps don’t seem to have this issue.

Fix all these and it would be a great straightforward easy to use app!

The app works great

As of Feb 2024, this app does what it needs to do and works fine for mobile banking. It could have more functionality to compete with other banking apps (commbank, nab, etc), but there’s nothing wrong with it and you can do everything you need to do (transfer, pay, etc). Their feature that lets you hide your savings from yourself is helpful, too. Not sure why there’s so many one star reviews!

app is saying i changed my password when i havent

hi, idk what to do because its saying i have changed my password when i know i haven’t, its not letting me reset it by the website, i called the number and they’re asking for a 4digit tax thing? idk where to find that 4 digit number ):

😡OK but missing many basic features

Just ok with only a few basic features & missing many other features that are standard on most other banking apps.

😡Major password security concerns. Very basic app but could be much more helpful if we could create a nickname (alias) for accounts & Pay Someone Payees to more easily identify & remember accounts. Easy to add new payments but cannot edit or delete Existing scheduled payments. Please copy what the ANZ Bank app does- it’s much better. Finally the ability to temporarily Lock a credit card where it may be lost or stolen would provide extra security & peace of mind - especially as this now seems a basic feature on many other banking apps. GSB ignores most customer feedback & does little to improve this app as many comments & suggestions for most basic features have been requested for over 12 months with little action!

It’s functional enough…

It’s not a bad app. It has a pleasant interface and it’s easy to use. However, iCloud AutoFill password doesn’t seem to work with it (doesn’t AutoFill my password) so I either have to login to password keychain or just put the password in myself. The only problem I have had with this is this app and the Great Southern Bank website login. Also, the app seems fair basic - not as many options or functions such as being able to edit scheduled transfers etc. It’s even more tedious having to login to the website (which is not user friendly, does not let you use AutoFill, and doesn’t have a mobile-friendly interface) just to manage your bank accounts. PLEASE make it easier and faster to sign in to internet banking and to the app. It gets really frustrating having to login all the time - especially when you’re at the checkout and need to transfer money.

Bugged on iPhone 14 Pro

At the moment, the app is basically bugged on iPhone 14 Pro and presumably, Pro max. Screen contents get cut off at the top *and* the bottom. The home slider overlaps the navigation bar, and often, the control centre icons and dynamic island cut off not only visual objects but also controls, like the Close button on the left side menu. Almost immediately I had an instance where the menu didn’t close after switching to another screen, and I couldn’t figure out how to properly tap the Close button. It doesn’t particularly make sense because top cutoff is common on the 14 Pro, but not to such a frustrating extent, and cutoff on the bottom makes no sense as there was zero change to the dimensions of the bottom of the phone. I can confirm that neither of these are an issue on my partner’s iPhone 13 Pro. Aside from that, the ability to share/airdrop account details and freely add and save payees without having to send money to them, unlike the ANZ app, is a pretty strong draw. Would recommend the ability to go back by swiping from the left, and open the menu by doing so, too.

Fails frequently

Can’t add payee without it saying oops! I often have to try multiple times. Previously it did not save them but now it does.

It wouldn’t let me do app transfers of payments. I had to delete and reinstall. And they still failed so they had to change me on the help desk to email confirmation as texts didn’t arrive. This suddenly just happened one day and the tech team couldn’t fix it either.

Today I’ve tried 7 times to transfer money from one account to another to actually pay for a purchase and it won’t let me get past confirm. Once out of 7 times it said oops! The other times you’d press the button and nothing happened.

Really sick of basic things like accessing my money and transfers being so stressful and hard. Honestly looking at taking all my accounts to another bank right now. Today I was just lucky that I don’t bank only with GSB otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to pay my family without coming home and using a laptop (I hope that works!)
