  • Not as fair as PC eXtreem Gammon

I suppose there’s a reason the PC app costs 6x as much. You can learn to be a better player with this, but the suggested moves nearly never work out. Probably because of the favorable dice rolls this app gets afterwards. Watch this: if the computer player offers the doubling cube, it will nearly ALWAYS get a double on the next dice roll. Either it “peeked” at the roll first, or influenced it.

  • Excellent trainer

I’ve had a lot of fun with this app, and have improved over the last couple weeks of having it. I’ll re-rate 5 stars if the fix the glitch that doesn’t let you see the dice roll on most forced moves (sometimes you see the dice, hence my thinking it’s a glitch). Doesn’t effect game play much, but when you’re stuck on the bar or bearing off, it’s a little annoying to see a bunch of moves happen with no visible dice. At any rate, I highly recommend it, excellent back end, if not a little rough on the user end.

  • It’s great....but

Nice display, but that’s it. Has a unique algorithm that favors the computer. It withholds doubles till the end of the game almost 80% of the time. Unfortunately, the player finally gets doubles when on the bar or unable to play them. It’s really quite laughable to see this over and over! Lol I have never purchased a game that cheats more and more the higher player level you choose to play against. The programmer of this game who increases the cheating levels of play to make you believe the opponent is better than you is not a very good programmer. It would have been better to increase the opponents skill level. A big waste of 10 bucks.

  • Inconsistent

Standard opening moves are sometimes accepted, sometimes labeled as errors. I lost track of the times I followed XG’s advice to leave blots that seemed needlessly risky to me and then got gammoned (or backgammoned) when taking all of its recommendations in tutor mode.

Now I can’t even delete & reinstall. Learn to program folks.

  • Rigged

I had high hopes for this app but sadly it has failed most miserably. It is set to win no matter the odds of that win. Massive doubles when baring off, exact rolls needed to come in from the bar, leaving stones wide open that cannot be hit. The list goes on… I have played extensively on a real board with precision dice so I know what turns up on real dice. This doesn’t come close. I paid too much for this app for this to be the case. Fix it.

  • Unusable since upgrading to iOS 15.1

Ever since I installed iOS 15.1 on my iPhone 12 the program has become unusable. When the dice are rolled there is a noticeable delay in the animation and you may not even see the bot’s movements until after the play is over. Something funky has occurred or perhaps XG Mobile is incompatible with iOS 13.

  • Buggy with new iOS

This app was great until the latest iOS(15) came out. Now it doesn’t show you the roll of the dice if you’re blocked from getting off the bar. It just moves on to the next roll so there’s no way of seeing what was missed. And the dice now seem to freeze briefly mid-roll. None of this occurred before the iOS upgrade, but iOS15 has been out for 6 weeks, plenty of time for the developers to fix it.

  • Meh to the algorithm but you learn

Imagine being a great dice roller playing the best dice roller in the world however someone else rolls YOUR dice. So you have to play that. Ha! For real.

Tough to beat for that reason however the hint tool and showing alt moves is cool and can certainly advance your skills.

Ultimately you have to take it 1:1 with a real person. This app has a shelf life.

  • Good Game

I love the warnings and hints! The manual dice option is fantastic if you need to convince yourself the computer is not cheating. Once I’ve unpinned the menu, I must tap the edge of the board next to the cube, or the replay button, depending on which side of the board the menu is configured to appear, to bring it back. It takes a few attempts at first.

  • Best Backgammon App, but Buggy!

This is by far in a way the best backgammon app in the marketplace. The tutor functionality will make you a better player.

Having said that, with the latest update to iOS 15, the app has become very buggy. Slow to respond to actions and will skip through moves. Please help fix!
