  • Stunning game, a few bugs though

Had previously written a damning review saying it had more bugs than starship troopers.. but feel the need to re post. This game is a minor miracle and deserve serious credit. I have been playing mechwarrior for 15 years on pc and other devices and this game is a dream..just a few bug fixed and would be perfect (don't these developers have £2.99 and an iPad to test it !!?)..

Support these developers, its best game on my iPad by a mile if you like the genre..

Come on devs sort out the silly embarrassing bug in the mech bay and the odd crash and make some expansion packs and you will have a masterpiece you can be proud of.

Pull your finger out devs please..

  • Mech commander

I love mech warrior and mech commander games so when this came on the market had to buy it. It's a great game and would have given it 5 stars if it didn't crash all the time and have to restart the same level over and over. Am playing on a ipad2 so don't know why it keeps crashing. Please fix the bugs ty

Great game, but do not buy until they get the constant issue of freezing/crashing fixed
  • Could be the best game on IOS

What a sweet game! The UI is fantastic, AI and pathfinding are working great, the biggest issue now is game crashes, I have an IPad 2 and I'm not sure if it is the game or my iPad but at least once a level I crash! Sooooo frustrating! Everyone should buy this game, it's fantastic! And if we all buy a copy they'll have the funding to fix the little things and make it even better!

  • Great potential, poor execution.

I wanted so much to like this game. I've been a fan of the battle tech/mechwarrior universe for over 20 years. Unfortunately this game just doesn't deliver. All the technical issues aside, the game just isn't that fun. The primary draw, giant walking tanks, just falls so short. The overhead view leaves the mechs looking like cheap plastic matchbox cars, and the terrain is so spartan it's laughable. They seem to have put more effort into the cheesy voice acting than any other aspect of the game.

With that out of the way, I also need to address the technical issues. The primary one being that the game crashes so frequently as to make any but the shortest missions impossible.

I would also rail on the lack of polish, but it's clear they're still months away from working on that.

If they had waited a couple more months to release the game may have been passable, but as it is it's not even playable.

This is a sad attempt to cash in on a great franchise without working for it.

  • Waiting for stability

As of right now the game has an enormous amount of potential with its storyline (Which is very rich in references to the Battletech storyline making it awesome for any Battletech fan!) The developer stands to make a good amount of money off of this app and its content if they could only get the app working. Can't play past the 4th mission or so without crashes and lock ups. Waited a long time for the app to be released and looked very much forward to it, sorry to say that I am severely disappointed and dissatisfied. Hope that you can get it fixed soon! Seems as though you released the game too soon and without the proper testing. After a solid all around fix for the crashes, a better AI, more balance (as of now I can just mow the entire map over with a lance of assault mechs on just about every mission) and being able to actually sit down and play the game without being frustrated or board I will be more than happy to come back and give a 5 star positive rating.

  • Long time fan of Battletech

I bought this game as a long time fan. I loved the Mech Commander game in the 2000's. Although I see the similarities, this game seems poorly executed. Not only does the game consistently freeze, but the game is lacking several traditional innovations of previous RTS games. I would have loved to see some actual role playing or multiplayer elements. The iPad is so good bringing board games to life that I hoped that this game would revitalize Battletech to the touchscreen. Alas, I am out $10 and disappointed. If your not a fan you will regret this purchase.

  • MechCommander Lite + Bugs

It wants to be MechCommander so so so bad. Some nice cut scenes. Ok voice acting (except for the transport driver, ouch) and some nice BattleTech Universe stuff. Problems include: Some ugly maps. As in ugly art. Pathfinding is wonky at times with AI unresponsive to your orders. Mech repair/salvage seems totally broken. You can repair your Mechs, but you can't pilot them again. Salvage/Repair/Resource management is half implemented and looks like it was disabled partially at release. Difficulty seems kind of easy too. Why make a big deal about pilot assignment to a mission when you never have control over who is available. None of my pilots were ever killed or wounded and were available for every mission, and I was always limited to just a lance of Mechs, so why go through the headache of pilot assignment on every mission? There are signs of bigger ideas, but it looks like the developer just didn't tie it all together.
Favorite bug: On first playthrough, go to the final mission and failed it on first try (due to mech selection). Final cinema was unlocked in the Media section even though I haven't finished the game.

Diehard BattleTech & MechWarrior fans may want it, but may ultimately be disappointed in the final game. Casual gamers might like it as a Lite Strategy game. It is the best portable BT/MW game, but since it's only competition is a MechAssault game for the DS, that's not saying much.

  • Good gameplay, interesting missions but graphics is meh

I played Crescent Hawk's Revenge about 20 years ago on my (then) super fast 286 and thought it was the bees knees, so was bit disappointed that 2 decades later the graphics hasnt changed much! Gameplay is OK, the voice acting's pretty good, the missions are interesting, but as mentioned the graphics are .... a bit retro (in a bad way)

Dont get me wrong, I'm not expecting Infinity Blade class graphics, but this looks pretty mediocre.

    Update 10/16/12

I initially gave it a three with the hope that the stability issues will be fixed. After two patches nothing has improved, so it's a giant ONE from me. I'd like my money back if I could. This is the worst paid game experience I've ever had.
