Reviews of Gyft

  • Only for NEWER cards

I can only use this app to scan cards that have a barcode on them. I have a ton of older cards that I seem to never have with me when I’m out. I should hope that even older gift cards are still worth the money spent on them!?! In older versions of Gyft, you could add these older cards by typing in the card number (in lieu of scanning a barcode). That feature is no longer available.

I have bought several hundreds of dollars worth of cards through Gyft over the years as phones keep getting smarter and handling more data. There are many other free apps that give rewards for purchases through their app. If Gyft claims to give any rewards, I have never gotten any.

I am not a fan of using apps that charge a monthly fee for the rest of your life! Therefore, Gyft seemed to be a great fit. Sadly, there are just no features offered.

I’m just looking for a great app that can handle my huge stash of gift cards, allow me to have a cashier scan them on my phone and have a secure place to store loyalty cards and possibly ID cards as well. I am happy to pay a one time charge for these services. I do not want to be stuck in a recurring charge for life, though. Sorry to report that Gyft is just not adequate.
  • Worst customer service

Some cards purchased through Gfyt are not working at the selected merchants, when this issue is reported to Gyft they tell you to contact the merchant
Then when you contact the merchant they tell you the cards are not active and to go back to Gyft
I have spent six days back-and-forth with Gyft support and each time. My email gets roted into a new support person who tells me how to redeem my card not solving the actual problem that was convey to them, which is the card is not active , so they keep your money and keep you bouncing back-and-forth to 15 different support reps and then tell you to contact the store and the store tells you to contact Gfyt .

As a sidenote, they make it very difficult to get a Support request out to them , when you’re on their website seeking how to contact support, the link posted goes to a failed URL and there’s no phone number that you can call.
  • Impossible to use

Got a digital gift card from a friend via email. Said I had to download the app to redeem it. Downloaded the app, then clicked on the link in the email to redeem. Just sent me to a login page, where I logged in and then… nothing. Also tried the “upload gift card” function in the app, but there’s no place for me to enter the card # and PIN— just an endless scrolling list of supported merchants, which doesn’t include the one my gift card is for.

Will I ever actually be able to claim this gift? Did my friend just hand his money over to a random third party with no way for me to redeem it? Who knows! Maybe Gyft, Inc. will use the money they effectively stole from me/my friend and pay for a real developer. In the meantime, I guess I’m out of luck.
