Not as good anymore

I’ve used Calm for years, mostly to help me fall asleep. The sleep stories and soundscapes are amazing and they have terrific narrators who never fail to help me switch off.
But lately there have been too many changes to the app layout making it more difficult to find the content I use. Some other content I like, such as remixed popular music has been removed - which is also disappointing.
And on the whole I now feel, Calm is not so much providing various wellness tools for whatever each person may need - but instead focused now on getting people addicted to make Calm a daily habit by counting streaks and highlighting a wellness score based on which elements of the app I haven’t used. This is annoying.
The lifetime special now being offered, where you can subscribe for life for half price, makes me worried there will be no commitment to new content and standards are set to decline further.

Sleep is so important 😴

Sleeping is so important if you have a hard time sleeping then calm for you calm gives you relaxing stories calming music for example the heart of Dublin is one of my favourites and I can’t sleep without sleep story I’ve had it for so many years. I mean it’s so cool and like I sleep so so so so so well.😎 super super super great she can’t fall asleep or if you have trouble and as even a little baby music if you have like a younger child that music is so calming and help me fall asleep when I was little I really really really, really really this if you’re gonna find any sleep place calm is for you. Please buy it, it’s super give it a five star rating because it’s the best time I had a hard time sleeping. My mum just told me to listen to the sleep story and it totally worked. I think that if I ever got a crazy kind of like almost addiction to it I literally can’t sleep without it. I just love it and I really really really recommend it so please buy it and ask your parents. It’s the best sleeping story🥳🥳🥳🥳

It's not accessbile for disabled users

Hello, I really like the content on your app and it has really helped me to develop my practice. However, because of the issues described in the title, I probably will no longer subscribe to Calm next year. I am deaf, and use captions to understand the content. While I can watch the videos with captions, the biggest barrier I am facing is that not all videos have captions available. Additionally, some of the captions that are available are not accurate or are poorly timed, which makes it difficult to follow along. Accessible apps need to have accurate and well-timed captions for all video content. I would love to resubscribe once you have resolved these issues. It's also crucial that instructions for techniques, such as the box breathing technique, are provided in text format alongside any visual or auditory guidance. A better way to accomplish this might be to provide a clear visual countdown or a text-based guide. I am happy to speak to a developer more about my feedback and suggestions for how to resolve these issues. I believe that especially since healthcare providers are starting to recommend your service to their users, many of them who use Medicaid and Medicare and are disabled, the app absolutely should be more accessible. Thank you for your timely consideration and I look forward to working with you in making the meditation community more inclusive.

PLEASE add a repeat button for sleep stories!

I downloaded this app because I struggle to sleep. I cannot get my mind to stop racing without something to “distract” it and having the many wonderful sleep stories with soothing narrators is a GODSEND that I immediately got a Premium subscription when my free trial ended. I pretty much exclusively use this app for the sleep stories because that is what is most effective for me. However, I find myself jolting awake when the sleep stories end and that is not ideal after 30-40 minutes. To combat this I started using the playlists exclusively but those are still only a few hours long, none anywhere nears 8 hours. PLEASE add a repeat button to the sleep stories so they can play on loop, or even allow the ability for us to create our own playlists out of our favorite stories! I would love that so much. Because Calm is no longer serving my needs in helping me stay asleep I have found myself using it less and less and have opted for the app “Slumber: calm stories & sleep” because they DO have a repeat button on their stories, as well as a whole category of long stories that last for 3+ hours. The subscription is also considerably cheaper. If this isn’t a feature added to Calm soon I will sadly have to cancel my subscription.

The Best App

I used Calm a few years ago ‘just to see what it was like’. I liked it a great deal and found the sleep stories really helped me get a restful sleep. Then Covid came and I turned more and more to the app and started to discover what it really had to offer. I had already paid for Premium and now had access to exercises and breathing techniques. During Covid I did several sessions of the the exercises every day which gave me structure and kept me busy and fitter. I then started listening to the meditations and found that they too were invaluable in calming me and generally helping me get through the day. I have never looked back. I love getting those little reminders each day, the daily ‘reset’. I share them with my daughter who is going through a tricky time. All in all I think it is terrific value for money and has certainly helped me over the years. Long may it continue. With grateful thanks to all at Calm. You are literally a life saver.

Add more stories to the kids

Why aren’t you adding stories to the kids section? I’m a single mother and my kids have a terrible case of insomnia. I always see you adding stories to the adults but why not the kids this makes bedtime a struggle to the point where I can’t sleep until they sleep just I can’t even like I see you uploading three times a week to the adult but never the kids they only get the single story once a month maybe not even maybe once every three months I’m just so sick of it. Please make my life easier. Just add more like it’s not that hard maybe if it is it’s certainly not hotter than the adult so I don’t know why you can’t do it, but you certainly should just please take my comment into consideration. It’s even a chance that you’ll see this, but I just want you to know. that kids are depending on you. i’m not hating on the app. I think it’s a great app. My kids used to fall asleep to it until we ran into this problem. That’s why I wrote you two stars. I was going to write you one but you generally are good and if you see this comment, you should have the heart to change your ways.

The pros and cons about Calm.

Calm is a good service to help people sleep, calm down or express their feelings about something instead of keeping it bottled up. I enjoy calms sleep story’s but I wish they had more on Asia as I enjoyed the sleep story about Chinese New Year. The range of sleep story’s is wide. One of my favourite things about calm is that and can do daily check-ins as sometimes nobody’s their to check in on me personally. One thing I dislike is how addictive the check in streak is and I get overwhelmed when I miss a day. As a person with extreme anxiety and terrible sleep and emotion habits I find this app very useful. One thing if recommend to fix is when you use all the icons on top for the daily check in is that you can’t see your writing. I’d also recommend a larger Halloween collection for holidays like holi maybe. Thanks for reading if you got this far!

Calm review

This app has been life changing to the point where I now have the technique to acknowledge and appreciate thoughts processes that are leading to panic moments before the actual attacks and after the novelty period at the beginning where I felt dependent on the daily calm’s with Tamara which I then wasn’t following her advice and going through the motions became a bit counterproductive and pointless! That said I still have to listen to them from time to time just for the inspiration words at the end of the session! For me, the most changing thing is the ways you teach yourself to rest with the afternoon meditation naps and most of all, the methods I’ve learned from assistance for falling asleep easily after suffering insomnia for 2 decades, this is truly life changing experience and have only had 2 full nights without any sleep in the 3 years I’ve had this app which without doubt, the game changer of my 42 years on God’s earth!
I live in Yorkshire in England where were notorious for being very tight with our money but this has had such an impact on my mental wellbeing I’d pay 10 times the amount of a years subscription!
God bless your calm app! Xx

Simply brilliant

I decided to purchase premium about 2 months ago, and have absolutely NO regrets. I listen to the daily Jay every morning on my way to work, as well as other talks/meditation as I need them. The notifications are a fantastic reminder to breathe, and focus on what is important - really makes you think. Best app ever!

Calm sleep stories very helpful to me

I suffer from severe anxiety and depression and often cannot sleep. Just hearing a pleasant voice at night has been a lifesaver for me. I choose stories that have a gentle, caring theme and the voice of the person reading the story is very important to me as that is what I need.
The white noise etc does not work for me, and most of the meditations but I choose what is soothing for me. It’s important to find someone who is reading the story or the meditation that has a calm, gentle voice.
I would like to hear some more, very gentle, calming music and perhaps something that plays for a long time, because I tend to wake up as soon as it’s finished. I think I will be a lifelong member of calm as it has been a lifesaver for me for several years. Good job guys.
